I somehow broke the wire on the microphone that comes with the 1912.

I purchased a DM-a405 micrphone from ebay. I meant to get a DM-A409.

Will this microphone still work?
^^

Sorry, but no, as it is not properly calibrated to work with the 1912. Give your local BB/Magnolia a call and see if they have a spare one laying around that they can give you.

It may be able to be repaired if there is still at least a little bit of both conductor wires on both of the pieces such that the wires can be twisted and soldered together, a quick cheap job at any TV repair shop.

I currently have an Integra 8.8 140 watts per channel avr. I am thinking of replacing it with Dennon 3312ci because the replacement for 4311 is too far away and I need a new receiver for my new 65' Panasonic VT30 3d tv and I like the idea of air play in the new receivers. Will I be loosing a lot of oomph by going down to a 125 watts per channel receiver from a 140 watts per channel one?

Hi all,

I'm very interested in getting 3312 (or 3311) but want to know if either of these support gapless playback of FLAC files? Not many receivers do and could be limited by the software/firmware.

I'm hoping it does as this is fairly important for me as I want to stream lossless audio (or via the network connection).

Does apple lossless play gapless? I'd expect it to when using the dock?

Also both models have USB on the front however this was listed as a new feature - any difference in how they operate?

Thanks in advance,

Does anybody know if the 891 is a good unit to buy I've seen it for dirt cheap

Well I tried changing / tweaking any relevant settings to no avail. So I installed an ATI Radeon HD 6450 replacing the onboard ATI Radeon HD 4200 and that did the trick.

Hi all:
I would like to purchase an Appletv and control the receiver (non airplay Denon receiver ie 991) with my Iphone the same way it's possible to control the receiver with built-in Airplay. If I read the 2112 manual correctly, it's possible to have the receiver in network standby and turn it on in another room and stream from my Iphone to zone 2. Does anyone know if this is possible?

The 2112 and 991 are both network avr and can be controlled via a web interface/denon app. However, you would need the AirPlay update to stream direct from a iphone. Networking streaming is possible as long as either unit is connected to your network.

I have finally decided to return my 891 for a 2112.

Thank you JDSmoothie and batpig. You guys are an invaluable resource of information! I am glad you guys are here assisting us!

Anyone get a good deal on the 2112?
Question with the 2112ci. This is my first denon. And I'm totally confused. How do I get volume through my tv if I choose not use the home theater speakers? My wife just want sound through the tv when she watches it. Why doesn't the remote control my tv volume. And I can't seem to get the sound set up correctly. It's either too loud or too low. Someone please help. I used the mic already to calibrate the speakers

I gotta good deal. Check EBay. Got one brand new from a authorized seller for well under $500
post #493 of 17928
What authorized sellers are on eBay? I don't know which ones (of those that are there) are?

Does the 3312ci provide video signal to both HDMI outs simultaneously? I have a 3311ci that doesn't.

Thanks, Patrick
^^
Yes, the 3312CI is able to pass video through both HDMI outputs at the same time limited to the lowest common resolution for them both.

The 8.8 is a beast at 50+lbs and uses much more heftier amps then does the 3312CI, although unless you are using 4&#937 speakers or very inefficient speakers or are in a very large room, you should be fine with the 3312CI.

If you are asking if adding the ATV to the 911 offers the same capability as a 2112CI alone, the answer is yes, although the ATV is the better way to go as it not only allows the streaming of audio, but video as well AND also allows you to stream to Zone 2 with another source playing in the main zone (the Denon Airplay models require Airplay in the main zone as well as Zone 2).

In order to pass video/audio to the TV while the AVR is in Standby, you must first be using an HDMI source. Then set the setting (p. 89) to "ON" as well as set the to the HDMI jack # that you have the cable/sat box plugged in to. If you want the Denon remote to control your TV volume while in HDMI pass through mode, you will need to register your TV with the remote (p. 106) as the default setting is for a Sony TV. Sound fluctuations while watching TV can generally be tamed by setting the Dyn Vol setting (p. 82) to "Evening" as the default is "OFF." The Dyn Vol and Dyn EQ settings are adjustable only after running AUTO SETUP.

Just set up my 2112. Very happy was more difficult to set up then I thought but finally accomplished. Word of warning if you are using analog inputs do not use hdmi inputs with the same name. Denon in my opinion should label their inputs by number only. Now I ran the audyssey test tone set up. When I go to calculate. The denon automatically runs calculate and store. the storing seems to bypass my ability to see aussyssey's results. In the manual an elsewhere calculate and store where 2 seperate steps. My reciever will not do one without the other. after several attempts I just ran audyssey in its entirity. I was then able to veiw results over the speaker parameters settings. The end result was fine but can any one tell me how to calculate without storing.
^^
You are correct in that when using the HDMI default labeled input name (e.g BD, without assigning it to another name) and the analog RCA input with the same name (eg. BD), the HDMI audio input will take priority. In order to get the analog audio with the HDMI video you would change the INPUT MODE setting to "Analog."

Regarding the Calculate/Check/Store steps, are you saying there is no "Check" display after the Calculate step completes?
Correct after selecting calculate only. It forwards to a screen and calculates then stores the calculation automatically. It then asks if I want to activate volume control and then it says I can continue with source set up. It never gives the opportunity to check the results before or after calculation. I can only see what I believe are the results in the speaker parameters menu.
I would suggest you reset the microprocessor (p. 129) and do the AUTO SETUP procedure again.

Hey JD what is considered a "large" room? I have a 24'L x 13'W room with 7' 1/2" ceilings and want to make sure the 3312 is up to the task?

I don't think I was clear in my first post. What I want to do is use my iphone outside on the patio to turn on the receiver and access the ATV and stream to Zone 2. Would I need to have the Airplay upgrade on the the 991 receiver to do it? Further, would I be able to control everything with my iphone?

Large is a bit subjective, however, your room is likely on the upper end of medium. It also of course depends on the actual layout of the 5.1/7.1 speaker setup.

No ... you were clear. Any Denon model with networking (eg. 991 or 2112CI) will allow you to use the Web Control feature to control the AVR with your iphone using the free Denon REMOTE app which can be downloaded from iTunes website (although other apps can be used as well like DenONOFF). iTunes also has a Remote app that the iphone can use to control the ATV as well. So bottom line .. no you do not need the Airplay firmware upgrade to the 991 when using the ATV.

I answered this before. You can do everything minus stream from the controlling iPod to the AVR with the web GUI and denon app sans AirPlay.

The highlighted part is a bit confusing. The AirPlay "update" is NOT required if an Airplay device (eg. ATV, Airport Exress) is connected to the AVR.
