Has anyone had a replacement that fixed this problem permanently?

Set HDMI control to OFF, unplug the receicer for a minute then it should be fine.

Yes the 1712 has the more advanced Audyssey MultEQ XT for superior audio fidelity.

If you haven't already check out pg.1, post 1 for all the features of the 12 series Denon avrs including the 1712 and the 1912.

Denon had me reset mine three times, it will bring it back temporally, then I took the unit back and picked up a new one and I have the same issue again. I'm waiting for an answer from denon on what to do next

So I recent setup my new 2112 with the def tech PM 800 package in our living room. I ran the audessey setup and love the way movies sound, the bass shakes the floor and it feels like I'm in the action, Super8 train scene was awesome! The issue is that when we turn on the radio or ipod or other music source the sound is nice and crisp but seems to be lacking the deep bass that movie creates. Could someone let me know what I need to do to change this so that i can turn our living room into a rocking dance party (when needed)!!! Thanks

Thanks, this is not encouraging... I performed a microprocesser reset according to the instructions in the manual and set everything up all over again. Seems to be working now, but for how long?

I had to go in and set the front speakers to small and the crossover to 80Hz. I also set up the subwoofer to SW+Fronts. Now I seem to get good base and the SW plays when the system is receiving a stereo signal. Prior to those changes the SW didn't seem to come on at all with a stereo signal.

Ok I talked the tech support at denon today and they said they are receiving calls on this issues but the have no idea what's causing it. He said he would contact me if he found out any information about a fix. I have till the 24 to retrun this unit so I guess I will wait it out and see what happens.

Note that setting all speakers to SMALL with minimum of 80hz crossover is recommended immediately after running AUTO SETUP (regardless of whether the Denon sets them to LARGE).

Note that if you use the Web Control feature (p. 68) to SAVE the config.dat file to a PC then you simply have to reLOAD it after doing a reset rather than having to do the AUTO SETUP and manually restore all config settings. Although this cannot be done on the 1912, it can be on the "CI" models.

If the button is on a Harmony One, that would do it. There's a thread that tells you all about it. It's reasonably priced and works great. Check it out.

+1 for Harmony. Using a Harmony for all HT components including my 2112CI. Super easy setup using computer, easy to use for the whole family, you will wonder how you ever lived without one.

I have an avr 1912 and have done the audyssey set up, etc. Of late the subwoofer make a loud rumbling sound when a movie hits a very bass heavy scene. I don't think it's a grounding issue or a blown cone (thought it could be) b/c it's not a constant hum but rather a deep bass rumbling that kind of shakes the floor/wall.

I'm wondering what the back of the subwoofer settings are supposed to be (there are knobs for XOVER, LEVEL and PHASE) or if I can tinker with them to reduce the rumbling.

I also tried to fiddle with the channel settings--- originally the subwoofer was set at 0 db (this is where Audyssey set it) but I moved it down to -3 db. It kind of helped, but not 100%

Any thoughts/help/tweaks? I'm hoping not to have to do a full reset/re-run of Audyssey

Thanks

Read Batpigs world and Jdsmoothie Audyssey setup there is a link on the bottom of any of their post and pay attention to the base management segment. It does sound though that it may be a blown sub.

I tried to scan through as many pages to find this question that I could. I'm sure it's been asked before, but I couldn't find it.

I have the 3312, and I'd like to be able to select alternate sources just for audio. For instance I'd like to play PS3 through Game 1 HDMI, yet play music from the iPod/USB port or from phonograph. Is this possible?

no, not possible with HDMI sources. FYI this is the fifth question in my FAQ: http://batpigworld.com/fadq.html

Hello all, I have the AVR-2112CI and I am having an issue getting my sub to respond to any music played through my receiver. It plays fine during TV shows, video games and movies but as soon as I play some music through Airplay or my Squeeze Box I get no low frequency response out of it. I have tried all the music settings I could see, but I only get bass through my Left and Right front speakers. Is there a setting that I am missing?

set your speakers to small and the xover to at least 80hz... don't use sub+fronts...

Thank you for the reply ccotenj, I am at work at the moment but I will double check when i get home. But I know for certain the speakers are set to small and the cross over should be fine, what is the dont use subs+fronts advice? Is that on option on the receiver or are you saying I shouldnt use my subs and fronts at the same time to listen to music?

thanks

Need some help/guidance here. I have the 1912 and the older xBox 360 that doesn't have HDMI. So, I have hooked the xBox up to the Denon using the Component inputs and the sound via digital input. I have HDMI going out of the Denon to my TV (MIT 65737) and am getting just blue screen. I read somewhere that I need to make some type of change to something, but can't find that link again. Can anyone help here? I think I have to assign the xBox connection on the Denon to one of the HDMI (game) inputs, or something like that, but how do I do that? Thanks for any help.

Check out post #3 in this thread for lots of helpful information including this note on watching one source while listening to another.

You need to assign the component video input and the optical input to the same source name (eg. GAME1 or GAME2) as the default setting for the component video input is SAT/CBL and the default for the optical input is TV. Refer to p. 97 in your Owner's manual.

Although much of what has been discussed in this thread has been summarized in post #3 on page 1 of this thread .....

For you lurkors and new AVS members out there, once you become a FREE member of AVS Forum you will be able to login and then will have access to the Search This Thread button which will show up next to the Thread Tools button (located at upper right of the page). This will allow you to search the particular thread you're in for key words (eg. "GUI") to read just those posts with those key words. For an even broader search, you can return to the main Amps, Receivers, and Processor forum and use the "Search This Forum" button as well.

JD,

I am new to this forum and want to make sure I ask my question in the right area. I ordered a Denon 2112CI that should be here early next week. I want to know with this or really any other receiver, how much does the video quality matter?

What I mean by that is that I have a Samsung PN64D7000 and it is capable of upscalling and everything else. I only use HDMI hookups(PS3/Receiver/Uverse DVR HD box) for everything. Does it really matter what the receiver is capable of doing video content wise? If so, are the higher end models a better choice?

Thank you for any input.

Hey guys, I'm a newb to the forum. Recently purchased a 5.1 system and I'm hooked...for now.

I did a search with no luck. Are Denons known to run hot? Not warm, borderline hot!

My system consists of-

Samsung PN50A510 50" Plasma
Denon AVR-3312 CI
Focal Chorus 726 V -Fronts (2)
Focal Chorus 714 V -Rears (2)
Focal Chorus CC 700 V - Center
Klipsch RW-10D Sub
Monster XP Speaker Cable 16 g

The slot in the tv stand where the receiver sits is open front and rear and gets pretty good ventilation. Anyone running fans on theirs?

Any advice is much appreciated.

how much space is there above the avr once you put it in the "slot"?

Hi gang, I'm so glad this forum is here.

I just replaced my Denon AVR-3805 with a new Denon AVR-2112ci, as I'm upgrading my life from analog to more digital.

My setup is unique in that I have a loft-style home with open air between rooms (and between zones)

Mac Mini for Hulu, iTunes (audio and video), Netflix, Photo Slideshows, and more via HDMI out
Denon AVR2112ci
Zone 1 in living room at TV - 5.1
Zone 2 feeds to Matrix Audio 4-area multiplexer, with speakers in kitchen, dining, office, and deck
Lots and lots of Airplay from iPod and iPhone.

The problem I am having is that when I use AirPlay, whether in Stereo, 5CH Stereo, DTS NEO 6, or DTS PLII, my zone 1 and zone 2 fall out of synch by some bad number of milliseconds; and the signal processing keeps the sounds from matching up well. Because it's an open-air, loft-style house, it's really, really bad. I don't even have a sensitive ear and it drives me crazy.

However, when I plug the same iPod or iPad source into an analog input via the iPxd headphone jack, the synchronization is totally ok.

I.e. the problem only occurs on AirPlay, not on analog in. And it never occurred with my old AVR3805 on analog in either.

Any idea what's going wrong and what it takes to fix it? Wish I had a better ear to describe how much of it is a synchronization/timing issue, and whether there are other DSP issues as well, but it's hard for me to say as I'm not a pro.

Thank you!

I was also having a similar problem, I went in and turned the channel level of the subwoofer up a bit and that seemed to help. It's under system setup then speaker setup and then channel Lv.

Now my question with that is, if I change the subwoofer channel for one input does it change for all inputs? The movie expercience was just fine but music thru the ipod or internet radio was lacking the bass I enjoy. audessey had set my sub channel level to -11.6 Db I turned it up to -6.0 Db. I don't want to have to adjust the sub channel level for every different mode I'm listening to. Please help, Thanks

Welcome. You've come to the right place as this thread discusses all the current Denon XX12 models. In most cases, the video chip in the AVR isn't going to make much difference, especially not when passing all HD resolution video through the AVR to the TV. As we often say in these threads, choose your AVR based on your audio and connectivity requirements, not on the whether the video will be improved.

Past year's models didn't run hot at all, rather only luke warm. However, I noticed when I was in a Magnolia that the 2312CI and 3312CI both ran hotter than the lower level models as well as past year's models, most likely attributed to the first time use of the Analog Devices video card installation in those models.
