Try powering off the network connection as suggested and then select another input device. Then go back to the network. Is it still streaming?

The OP is trying to pass both audio and video through to his TV rather than playing the audio over the surround speakers. As I indicated, the AVR will convert the analog video to HDMI and pass it to the TV, but will not pass the analog audio to the TV.

OK, got it, thanks thanks JDS. The 2112 should be able to pass analog video (single/yellow cable RCA plug) to the TV via HDMI, though, correct?

I tried the following sequence, still left the stream running...
  1. Pressed Zone power button (circle/line, bottom right) - receiver turned off
  2. Pressed SAT/CBL button - Receiver turned on with input being SAT/CBL
  3. Pressed NET/USB button - Receiver switched to Net source, music still streaming.

But, I did figure out how to shutdown the stream by using "Stop" playback button (black square) on the Denon remote. This is workable, just have to get my Harmony remote to send the "Stop" playback code. Currently, my Harmony remote does not send any command to the receiver when I press "Stop" playback on the Harmony remote. thanks, for the help!!!!

I've got a 3312 that I've had for a while, but hadn't tried to connect to the network, since there's only one ethernet jack near my system and that one is used by a music-only HTPC in my stereo rack. That jack is good, as the HTPC uses it to stream music from the file server in another room.

Anyway, I tried disconnecting the HTPC from the network and hooking up the 3312 to the ethernet jack. In the setup wizard, it hung on network connection and finally timed out. I've tried the soft reset (10 minute power down), resetting the microprocessor, and also doing the undocumented network reset mentioned on the first page of this thread, with no luck. When I go into the network part of system setup, it shows that it's obtained an IP address, and I can ping that address from another machine on the network without a problem. I tried connecting via the web interface, but that didn't work. Looking further, the web control interface requires that "network standby" be set to "on". I can view the network standby setting, and it is off. However, I cannot change it.

Any other ideas I might be able to try? The network jack comes from an ethernet over power line adapter, which in turn comes from a D-Link 24-port gigabit switch, which connects to my AT&T U-verse modem/wireless/router/switch.

I'm basing that on the fact that when ever you first connect to the stream above it starts out with a 30-second intro before playing the stream. Last night, I was listening to the stream, switch to another input (e.g. AppleTv) to watch a movie, shut everything down and went to bed. My bad in terms of not shutting down the stream before switching inputs, but I would think shutting down the receiver would kill the stream.

Also, it seems the only way I can shutdown an "Internet Radio" stream, is to go into "Pandora" which shuts down the "Internet Radio" stream, then exit "Pandora".

Going to play around with this some some more tonight, but thought I would see if anyone has any tips or troubleshooting steps I can try in order to get a consistent workflow going in terms of shutting down streams.

When listening to the Internet Radio you can hold the ENTER/OK button for a second and it stops the stream.

I use a Harmony remote and the Denon's ENTER button is mapped to the Harmony's ENTER/OK button.

I just connected my 3312ci a few days ago and sat down today to watch my first movie with this receiver. I have just been listening to music the last few days. For video, I am running a Sony 1080p HD projector.

I noticed that there are very faint wavy lines at particular scenes of the movie where there is a bright light (the sun shining or something like that). I wouldn't even call them lines. They are more like a wood grain pattern or waves that get darker as they get further from the bright light in the movie. In addition, when using the ps3, there is a loud static noice occasionaly.

I isolated the video problem to the receiver by trying different devices (ps3, satellite, etc.) and noticing the waves on all devices. I then connected the HDMI "out" cable (going to the projector) directly into the ps3 (bypassing the receiver altogether) and noticed that the lines had vanished.

I am currently using 1.3 HDMI cables because I have not made the move to a 3D projector yet. Would this make any difference? Are there any other things I can do before I pack this thing up and return it? I spent a lot of time setting it up and don't want to do that all over again.

There is no such thing as an HDMI 1.3 cable, no matter how it's labeled. If your cable is passing video without breakups or sparklies, your cable is fine.
Ok, so does that imply that I don't need 1.4 HDMI cables?

Any other suggestions? Should I try a hard reset? If so, how do you do that?
^^
If the cable will pass 1080p 2D video it is a "High Speed" cable and will pass both 2D and 3D video, however, if the distance to the projector is > 20' you may need a better quality cable or need to add an HDMI extender. A signal will be stronger when passed directly from the source rather than when going through an HDMI repeater (ie. AVR). You could try a reset (p. 149 or see post #5 in this thread), although not likely to resolve the issue, but also remember this will reset all settings, including Audyssey to their factory default so use the Web Control (p. 80) feature to SAVE the config file to a PC first.

Correct. Only the networking models can convert analog--->HDMI video.

So I was just trying to run the software update when all of the sudden it stopped responding to remote commands for menu items. I couldn't actually start the update. It still responded to volume commands. I powered it off (via remote) and tried again. Now I can't even open the menu.

Any thoughts?

Bump for this post. I'm getting a firmware update for my 1912.

Also does a firmware update reset Audyssey settings, network settings, or any other settings?

Try doing a soft reset (ie. unplug AVR for a few minutes).

FYI ... when a post starts off with "^^", it means that post is responding to the post above it .. which as El Gabito notes I already answered. I could however bump my post to your previous question as you never responded to it either.

Hi

I recently purchased a denon 1712 and have everything set with help from this forum and batpig. I ran auto setup and after setup changed my crossover to 80, speakers to small and base setting to LFE+Main. I now notice that I can't tweak the audyssey DynamicEQ/Volume setting for each source.

When I access Audyssey setting the only menu I get is MultEQ XT manual or off. It was set on manual. The other thing I noticed was that on the receiver front panel there is no indication that audyssey MultEQ XT, Dynamic EQ and Volume are on. No indication at all. This would suggest that MultEQ XT, Dynamic EQ and Volume are not on or set.

I read in the manual that if you change setting after auto setup you may not access Dynamic EQ/Volume.

My question is how do I correct this situation as I would like to change my crossover speaker setting etc. plus use MultEQ XT and Dynamic EQ and Volume.

Did I do something wrong etc..

Thanks

Changing the speaker LARGE/SMALL setting and crossover has no effect on Audyssey, although note that when all speakers are set to SMALL, there's no reason to change the sub setting to LFE+Main. From your description Audyssey is not currently set to ON. The settings available to you after running AUTO SETUP are displayed on p. 55. Try running AUTO SETUP again and make sure to SAVE the settings when it is completed.

As an update, I now have my Ipod working

Updated my ole 1st get f/w to ios3

Apple used to charge for going from 1.1.5 to IOS3 but they stopped supporting it. had to manually find it. Once this was done my ipod is now picked up

That didn't work. Guess I have to do a microprocessor reset? That sucks. My settings were not saved.
Just out of interest. What difference does a "off and on" make compared to leaving it off for 10 mins and then turning it back on? i.e. does it reset anything once left for a certain time
post #8093 of 17929
^^
About 10 min. will allow all electrical power from avr and hdmi cables to dissipate.

Has anyone had luck recently getting batpigworld's harmony remote codes transferred into their account? I have done this in the past without problem but just tried again with a new harmony remote and their tech support via email and phone have said it can't be done.

For some reason my 2112 appears that it won't as currently set up.

Since only the component analog video inputs appear to be able to be assigned under Input Assignment, how does one go about assigning the single cable, yellow RCA plug analog video input to a source? Can a single input source have both an HDMI assigned and have analog video input, with each working when the other source is not? For example, I have Sat/Cable assigned to HDMI 3, but I also have an analog video cable plugged into the analog video input designated as Sat/Cable on the back of the unit. My HDMI source works, the analog source does not.

Thanks again.

I emailed the distibutor I bought it from and they suggested trying to limit the ps3 to 720P to help isolate the problem. If the video display no longer showed the lines in 720p, then it was an issue with the cable. I did that and the lines are still there and still as prominent. Furthermore, i have run two other receivers with the same setup prior to purchasing the 3312 and have never experienced this issue.

Any other suggestions? Should I cohnclude that there is an issue with the receiver?

I just got a 1712 and love it! I just ran into my first issue. I was watching tron on bluray 7.1 pcm at -15 db when all of sudden it went to protection mode. It seems the audio peaking in certain scenes causes it. I had to go to -20 to make it. I am wondering if its running warm would be more sensitive?

Im running 7.1 with 8ohm speakers with dynamic volume. Anyone have an idea why it would shutdown on this volume level?

8 ohm is half the story... How efficient are your speakers?
