Most glitches or network issue that end up where an application is stuck is probably caused by trying to implement another application while the other is still running. That is why it is important to stop the first one before implementing the second.

Turning off network standby and power to the avr resets the avr's networking and that is why you will get a 30 sec, delay with the waiting etc. displaying when power is restored.

New member here but been reading these forums for years. What online retailers have you got the best pricing on these Denon receivers mainly the AVR3312CI? I called Electronics Expo and got I think a great price and they are some what close by, NJ and I am in CT. I also have a discount code for $25 back has anyone used that along with the prices quoted by calling them?

I can still return for the next few days to swap out for a different 2112, however I was curious if there are any people on this group who can see the denon-net radio/pandora screen every time on their tv without having to unplug the receiver? every few days?

Thanks

Hey guys,
I'm new here and just got a 1612 to replace my 20+ year old Kenwood that is dieing slowly. I currently only have a sub and my main polks hooked up and wonder if that is my problem. When I view tv or movies and turn the reciever on the surround has an echo in it. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

have you run Audyssey calibration yet? Even if you are only running 2.1 it will calibrate your system. At minimum do a 1-position measurement so it can calculate distances and levels.

New owner of a 1712.... I have run through Audyssey but was wondering what settings are preferred for this receiver (the alternate DynEq and volume settings or anything else beyond what it detects). Also curious on the best "mode" to use with stereo content. Do some netflix/hulu+ streaming and most of it is still in stereo. Just assuming Dolby Prologic II is what I have used in the past but was wondering if one of the other modes was better on denon receivers.

This was an issue before this with my system but the center is still sometimes hard to tell what people are saying (99% of the time voice is crystal clear) but sometimes when somebody is speaking softly or mumbling it's difficult to tell what they are saying. I have a polk csi5 center so both the receiver are center are pretty good where I wouldn't assume I would have this issue anymore.

Also I find my sub is set pretty weak by audyssey.... I have a SVS pb10 and have done the crawl to determine the best position but when I expect to feel the bass its there but maybe half of what I would expect it to be. I know I could adjust it through the settings but was wondering if there might be any reason it would be set that low that I can fix. Was especially evident when I was at ces a few weeks ago where (and I'm sure they overpower the bass) but on alot of those movies you can feel it in your chest when there is a lot of bass. My old receiver was close to this but have not been able to get it set right so far with the denon.

If that is the speaker calibration thing I did it with the mic the reciever came with. Then yes it was done. IF not I guess I need to figure out what that is and do it.

Well, the seller has a 14 day exchange/return policy & today is the 14th day exactly. I emailed him today. IDK... we'll see.

I suppose I could contact Denon if I can't exchange/refund... but the issue is subtle but once noticed it stands out. Anything red in color is affected.
Stands out to me anyway. Not sure if Denon would see it my way .

Sammy's Anynet+ seems to have issues "playing nice" with other equipment. By any chance does it have separate auto-on/auto-off controls? Just thinking maybe that's the reason you can't get TV & AVR to turn on together.

If I understand correctly, if I connect Tivo and BD to the TV, and instead of ARC run audio cable from TV to AVR, this would give correct audio and not 2.0 some times due to HDMI problems. I think I'll do that and see how it goes.

Thanks, these forums really are an amazing source of info and experience.

That would be me. UK Denon 1912. Albeit I don't have Pandora, but Internet radio or streaming from DLNA server works everytime.
I am wondering if it could have anything to do with the TVset / hdcp issues.

hi everyone, i just purchased a 1612 and now want to get some speakers that will pair up nicely. I'm new at this and searched throughout the thread for answers. i was looking at the klipsch Quintet and wondered if anyone had any opinions on those. I'm looking to spend around 500 since that is all i can afford at the moment. any help is appreciated. Thanks

Not correct. You will get the exact same audio output from optical or ARC. It's not due to HDMI problems; it's a digital rights issue between content providers and TV manufacturers. Only audio from the TV internal tuner(s) will be output as 5.1.

Question about HDMI Standby Passthrough: I follow the set up noted on page 1 but When I have my Denon in Standby, I only have video on my Sharp Aquos LCD TV and NO sound. The source is WD TV Live plus. Any idea why? Thanks.

Does it work with the avr on both 5.1 and 2.0 stereo? Do you have hdmi control set to on? Do you have Hdmi Audio Out set to TV? Are you using CeC on your TV?

Note the OP is talking about the AVR in "standby" so there would be no surround mode setting on the AVR as well as the HDMI Audio Out setting (which should remain at AMP) would not be taken into account either. However, the issue may be that HDMI-CEC (AquosLink) is not correctly enabled on the TV.

Video Select. I know this is covered by batpig, and has been asked before. But after trying what seems like everything I am still not clear of the work around, if there is one.

Can it be done with only 1 HDMI cable from 3312 to TV. I can hookup whatever cables needed between cable box, etc, but can only run 1 HDMI to TV.

Can a separate audio/video signal be used by only changing settings within the menus. It looks like on batpig's site it is possible but I can't get it.

Thanks for any help. Zach

Tks. Jd

I worded it wrong. I should of asked if he had all the correct audio formats picked correctly on the wd live?

On the amp, tv option is the tv option only for cec and arc? I am curious as when I have tv selected and the avr is on, the audio still comes from the amp and not the tv. My panel has no CEC option.

That's how most people do it, ideally. That's how I do it on my 3312 and 2112. All of my sources are HDMI except my Component wii (on the 3312) and everything goes to the tv over the one HDMI out.

I have not tried resetting the AVR. Should i try that as a last resort can check if that will resolve the issue?

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I did try changing the offset, but that does not affect the bass that much. The Dynamic Volume seems to also compress the dynamic range. I don't have a sub. I don't understand why they've removed the Tone control. My Onkyo 709 has that available in any mode except for THX.

I think I can help. I experienced the same problem and used the same cure that you did. Finally after a month or so I decided to contact an authorized repair center based on a discussion with JDSmothie. I bought the 2112 in November so I am still in warranty. I searched all over the Internet for a solution. Anyway back to my story. The technician said that the HDMI Network board most likely was bad although Denon has never released a bulletin. I have friend who also bought the same model. So we brought them in for repair on 12/28 and got them back on 1/12 with new boards installed. Since then all is working fine no plug pulling needed. The unit is in standby mode. So, what I do first is turn on the 2112 then my TV and then select net/usb and Pandora, internet radio etc are showing and ready for my listening pleasure. If I turn TV on first then the unit net/usb screen is there but when i select Pandora screen goes blank. Because I tried so many options before the repair I can't remember if I did the mentioned procedure. I think it may be a handshaking issue between Sony TV and Denon, but I always use the home theater so turning the 2112 on first is not a problem. I am hard wired directly to a airport extreme router.

Although doing so likely won't resolve this particular issue, yes, before considering repair/replacement, you always want to reset the microprocessor as a last resort.

Yes, it can. The "Video Select" setting allows you to select a different non-HDMI video source while another source is playing .... eg. with cable box connected to the AVR with component cables and while listening to the TUNER, you can use "Video Select" to select the cable box component video input.

No. The "HDMI Audio Out" only applies to HDMI sources and, when set to "TV", will pass both the video and audio to the TV. This setting has nothing to do with ARC or HDMI-CEC.

I am curious why when my amp is on and tv is selected in HDMI Audio out why it doesn't send the audio to the Tv? Point is mute as when I have the amp on I am always using my amp and speakers. Just curious.

^^
Is your TV set to pass audio to external speakers?
If I unplug overnight, as opposed to just a quick unplug, the problem of the Network not showing video has gone away now for two days as opposed to just a few hours. I have not lost the signal yet, I am still going to swap out though for a new one. I would consider replacing with a Marantz or something else but I cannot find these features on anything else until I spend close to a thousand. I paid 540 at Best Buy for the 2112 and I love it besides this issue.

Hello guys. I just setup my 2112ci. I am Coming from a 1908. I did the Audyssey setup, I am happy with the way the receiver decodes the channels, I hear every little detail on my movies. However! The 1908 sound quality was better sounding in terms of volume, crispness? The 2112ci sound like the volume is; I want to say suppressed. Any thoughts?
Also, I have my fios box running straight into the tv, I would like to run a tos-link cable to receiver for the sound. Can anyone help with this? I set the input on the receiver for optical but I do not hear anything.

Thanks in advance!
