Thank you so much for this link. I read through it and the green screen only appears when I try to connect to the media center. All other inputs work and the TV goes back to normal picture via HDMI. I put in a request through Marantz to research this. I do not think they will correct this because I am still awaiting their reply from the lack of data in the network save function.

Try doing a "Network Reset" by pressing/holding the "M-DAX" and "Display" buttons on the front panel while powering on the AVR. Note this will also do a microprocessor reset as well so be sure to SAVE your config file to a PC before doing the reset.

Sat/cable boxes often have various HDMI handshake issues with AVRs. The best configuration for you is to simply connect the cable box HDMI directly to the TV with optical from the box to the AVR for when you want to use the surround speakers.

Thanks. I had been considering that type of setup anyway because I think that there is some degradation in video quality going through the receiver. But then I won't have access to the on screen display from the receiver. What do you think is the best arrangement for that? Just another HDMI cable from the receiver to a different input on the TV?

Also, I guess that arrangement won't let me run my Blu Ray player through the receiver either.

Huh? Who said anything about the BDP? Simply remove the HDMI cable connecting the cable box to the AVR and connect it to the TV. Easy peasy.

Thanks for the advice. I was able to get a valid backup copy of the configuration before I reset the processor. This is the first time that worked. Upon restoring the config file, the avr seemed to not accept ths file and I had to load it twice. On the web interface, it said that the restore was not successful. I turned off the receiver then used the restore feature on the front panel. This seemed to work. So far, so good.

Hello everyone..I have been looking at this received for a while now to replace my h/k avr254..I will only be using it as a preamp and to power my center and surrounds ,I have a parasound halo amp to power the mains,,not interested in the network etc..only decoding for Dolby true HD and master DTS...how is the on screen menu??..does it show volume on the TV screen?...it looks like a nice received..and I'm sure its better than my h/k..any feedback on this from you users would be great!

So I ran audyssey this afternoon. I think I need to do it again. It set my center channel at +12. Not sure why it would have set it that high, it is inline with my mains. I am using the RF-82 ii and matching center, RF-62ii. Should I re run or using an SPL to get everything to match properly. Also people recommend keeping the Audyssey volume on off but leaving the EQ correct?

More than likely your center speaker is either defective or the wiring is loose as you will rarely ever get a setting > 0db let alone anywhere close to +12db. And with many Klipsch speakers, due to being so efficient, you should be getting closer to -12db. And yes, keep Dyn EQ set to ON and Dyn Volume set to OFF (unless watching at night and need to keep the noise down).

Hi all,
New to the Sr6006...I loooove the audio quality, coming from Anthem, Denon and Yamaha receivers this thing is easily as good as the best from those brands.

My one real hangup is Airplay. So I have Apple TV, but when I try and use the Airplay in the receiver to push music through, in iTunes I select Marantz 6006 and it says "connecting" and then "An unknown error (-15006) occurred while connecting to the AirPlay device “marantz:[SR6006] ”. Anyone ever seen this...my receiver is connected via ethernet and I'm listening to Internet radio and using the "Media Server" software to access my media on computer but I can't use the Apple remote to control the receiver this way. Anyone ever seen this error (-15005)?

The speaker seems to be playing just fine. Even during the setup it did all of the test tones just as the other speakers did. I will have to give it another go. Maybe I read it wrong.

Hi all,

I am trying to reset my SR6006 to it's factory settings, however I am not able to perform this, guessing two degrees are not enough biggrin.gif.

I am following the user guide and powering on while holding the display and zone select pressed, however all I get on the display is "no upgrade needed"

We all 3 were objectively listening to all machines and it was very clear to all of us. We listened to the Denon first (what I thought I would buy), then the Marantz, then the Onkyo, then the Denon again.


We were listening to a set of B&W floor standing 600 series, CC6 Center, and DiPole rears w/the sub turned off. These were the closest sounding in the room to my speakers...a stretch but the best they could offer. I knew mine would sound better...


The TRON cycle race chapter offers some great stadium acoustics w/voice, cheering, and fireworks. Awesome voices w/the MC and a crackly voice. Then of course the motorcycle racing with some great crashes. I felt was a good overall listening sample


Good luck with your purchase you can't go wrong w/either.

Marantz has a very nice bluray player out its the be 5007 I believe, it matches the 5006 avr and plays sacds also,its the same price as oppo's new 103..I have been debating on what one to get..probably the marantz to match the avr..I know oppo is top notch but I have heard many good things about the marantz also..I believe it uses a marvel video chip

Have you tried reviewing the network settings in the AVR? I know I had a hard time controlling my SR5006 via my iPhone after a power outage. Airplay wouldn't work and my iPhone wouldn't connect even though the AVR was online. Turns out after the outage that the AVR got assigned a new IP address and I had to manually change it on my phone.

They're not Marantz, but Sony's S590 (slightly over $100) and S790 (slightly over $200) BD players have been getting good reviews. The S790 in particular has many video adjustments which can help when playing lower-quality DVDs. Both support SACD and 3D. Given the rapid changes in player features, especially in network streaming support, relatively low cost players tend to make more sense than expensive ones, since it's less painful to upgrade them frequently. If you're going to be using the player's HDMI connection, the player is just going to be a digital transport and will not be manipulating the audio, so the brand of player is much less important.

Sorry if this has been covered (if so, please direct me to the post so I can check it out).

I've been having some issues lately when I run iTunes from my Mac via airplay to the Marantz 6006. Not so much trouble sending the audio and listening but once I switch inputs (from Net/USB) to any other input, I lose audio. Picture still comes through fine, just no audio. If I disconnect the power, and replug in, everything comes back fine. Any ideas?

example - watching TV - audio fine, switch to Net/USB and stream iTunes - audio fine, switch back to TV - no audio
or turn on receiver, stream iTunes (all fine) and then switch to TV - no audio

I haven't had this issue before, so this is kinda odd.
I have an airport express hooked up to the Marantz to share my internet connection rather than straight ethernet. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi,

I have now been able to reset the microprocessor.
However for some reason I can not get the receiver to connect to the internet.

I have turned off DHCP and assigned an fixed ip-address.
- also provided the sub-net mask (255.255.255.0)
- also provided the gateway (my routers IP)

I can however stream musik to the receiver via airplay, but I cannot listen to internet radio or connect to the server for firmware updates (it just keeps saying connecting to server)

Anyone who has experienced the same and perhaps have found a solution?

At the Firmware Update setting, when given the options to "Check for Update" or "Start", select "Start" instead of starting the update after checking for it.

Thank for the hint,

I have seen that this option has been available! I will try when I am home.
It seems to be a bit instable when it comes to the network connection. Sometimes the option to go into the firmware updated setting is not "active" meaning I can not get to the submenu for "Check for Update" or "Start".

Pretty sound advice. I just bought a Pioneer Elite BDP-05 universal BD player off the "bay" for less than $200. The audio quality on these players is supposed to be above average. For what I'm going to return the Oppo 105 for, I could upgrade BD players every 2 years for the next decade and a half! It is a great player and I like it, I just don't like it as much as I'd like that $1250 back in my pocket...

I want to confirm that my Marantz is playing DTS, DD or the other audio formats. How can I do this? Can I hit display or anything? My Onkyo it reads out on the face of the receiver. The Marantz does not show a whole lot in the circle hole.

Press the Status OSD Button on the remote. This will display several pages of information. HDMI input on tv must be chosen to see OSD.

DISP (Display) button on the remote changes the front porthole display settings (on > Auto Off > off)
