I got it to work, however only after resetting the device by turning it on with M-dax+Display pressed.

Hi All, New member here, just have a few questions about the 5006. Looking to pick one up from Ac4L, as many here seem to have good to great experience shopping there.

First, **Is this receiver capable of passing 3d from BD/STB to TV?** I see in the A4L details a reference to hdmi 1.4 specifically for 3d, but the 6006 specifically says in the item link "3d ready" while the 5007 specifically says in the link "3D 4K". This is a big concern for me as I am in the process of finding a Panasonic GT or ST 50 to complete my setup and both are 3D displays.

Second, **Will the receiver send the auto-on and low signals to my sub even if I have my front stage set to large?** I have just returned a yamaha v473 as it took fully setting it up and a few days to realize that if i had the front stage set to large the receiver would not pass ANY signal to my sub (the auto-on never happened). If I set them to small, the sub instantly got its on directive. I have full range BA HS450 towers, and these are certainly not uncapable of handing some lower frequencies. It matters to me as I own a multi-family home and have tenants here. If I want to watch some sort of movie late at night I like to turn off my sub and my towers still afford me a respectable sound range. It is an annoyance to have to mess with the avr's settings when all I want is my sub off which is a simple switch to throw for me.

Lastly, with BA HS450 fronts, BA HS250 center and an Outlaw LFM-EX, all I am missing is satellites. **Can anyone recommend a reasonably prices pair of rear surround speakers to add to my setup?** I'm only looking for 5.1 presently, but considering this receiver as I plan to acquire a second home within the next 18 months or so and will be taking the receiver there to set up my media room. Then I will be using 7.1.

1. Yes. All of last year's models (to include the 5006) can do 3D with this year's X007 models also adding 4k as well.
2. Yes, set the sub setting (p. 95 OM) to "LFE+Main".

How do I reset my 5006 my pandora has stopped working

A reset is not required as Pandora made configuration changes that has prevented most every brand/unit from connecting to their service. As noted in the notice below, the 5006 and 6006 aren't due to get the firmware fix until Dec 17.

I wonder if we already have received the update here in Europe as I got a notification to update my firmware after reseting the unit.

As a follow up question does the firmware get degraded to the firmware which the unit was shipped with if a microprocessesor reset is performed (thinking if this was the reason why I got an update notification).

No clue as to whether Marantz Europe has released the update early, although if it is only about 3 minutes long and you can connect to Pandora after the installation, you'll know you got the update early for sure. An no, a microprocessor reset will not revert the firmware to an earlier version.

Hello..just a few questions to you sr5006 owners out there..has anyone owned a Harman/kardan avr254 or 354 avr and upgraded to this marantz?
Also does the 5006 have pre-outs for adding diff. Amps..I just want to upgrade to the 5006 from my h/k..because I want audessy ..how is the video up conversion on these marantzs and what video chip do they use?..basically I'm just going to use it as a pre-amp and connect my parasound amps to this...also how is the gui-on screen menu?
Someone had said its old school Atari looking and not very 20th century..sorry for all the questions I just want to make sure I'm making a good decision on dumping my h/k to buy this..thank you for any info you can give me..not intrested in any network etc

The 5006 has the FL/FR pre-outs only and uses an Analog Devices video chip.

New 6006 owner here, and going through the setup motions. One thing I somehow misunderstood from the research I was doing prior to purchasing, is that the receiver only supports wired network. I thought it has wireless capability... That's a problem for me because my router is in another room, and all other devices I have connect to it wirelessly. So my question is whether anyone had figured out a way to connect the receiver to a wireless network through some sort of an adapter, or am I out of luck here? Any gurus advice is appreciated.

Thanks for all the good info here. Read a lot, rarely post, but I just ordered an SR6006 for my HT upgrade. Recently added an Oppo 103 and the old Sony STR-DB830 just doesn't do most of the new HD audio formats. The SR6006 seemed like a good mid point between the old tech I have and the AV7005 and amp combo I was dreaming of....

I just received my SR6006. I noticed the volume knob is much tighter than the source knob. Is this normal?

The 6006 features the same higher version of Audyssey MultEQ XT as does the 7005, so it should serve you well.

Not sure, but most likely you'll be using the remote control to adjust the volume.

I'm concerned that the front of this AVR took a hit. I purchased it as a refurb.

has anyone tried the Firmware update for pandora yet?

FWIW - this upgrade is really noticeable. Note- coming from 13 yr old sony STR-DB830.

Sounds are much clearer, more crisp - watching "The Pacific", mortar sounds are much more distinct, sounds from the right are easily distinguishable from center, dialaogue is cleaner. Also, for my room (15x25), the 7.1 gives a much more enveloping sound, even on 5.1 soundtracks. Watching my favorite movies and passages I found myself getting drawn in more than usual. Well worth the upgrade. Especially for DTS MA on blu-ray. I spent quite a while on calibration between getting the sub right (much lower than I used to have it - but better) and then doing a full cal. on 5.1, watching some clips, then deciding to run wires for 7.1 and recalibrating - well worth it!

Just did it. Working fine. Only a 3 min. update, then it reboots.

Just an FYI ... this current firmware update is to enable reconnecting to the Pandora servers only ... nothing else is included.

I asked it else where in the SR6006 vs SR6007 comparison thread, but I guess this is a better forum. Is the GUI/OSD interface on the SR6006 at all different from that on the current SRx007 models? Are there any differences in this aspect for the x006 and x007 models? If it is the same, I am looking to buy a refurb SR6006 rather than the latest comparable Marantz or Denon models. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Yes normal, you need more control over the finer tune volume than the few inputs to select.

Applied the latest firmware today (w/o any issues) on my 6006 but now the Marantz app via an itouch is giving me problems with "Media Server". When I go to select NET/USB > Media Server, it comes back with an error saying this function does not work with this device (don't have the exact error message). I can browse the media server from the web interface or on the TV directly from the 6006.

I upgraded the Marantz app to the latest version and still no luck? Additionally I had to re-enter the 6006 as a device (I had to use its IP address) since it won't automatically "see" the 6006 anymore. Prior to today it automatically picked up the 6006 on the network? Everything else on the app seems to work. Maybe delete the app and reinstall it?

FWIW - I did resolve this. Taken from the Marantz UK site:

"My device will not find the Marantz Remote App or shows an error message. What can I do?
The Marantz Remote App (WIZZ) can currently be used with the following products: M-CR603, NA7004, SR7005, AV7005, SR6006, SR5006, NR1602. Please note in order to use the app a firmware update of your Marantz device may be required. Should you experience connection problems when controlling via the app, first ensure that you have installed the most recent firmware for your Marantz product (update function via the Internet), the most recent iOS version on your Apple hand-held device and the most recent version of the Marantz Remote App. Also make sure that - the Apple hand-held device and the Marantz product to be controlled are connected to the same network - Network-Standby is activated in the Marantz product and a network connection has been established (test e.g. by listening to Internet radio and music-streaming from the DLNA media server) - the Apple hand-held device has been completely switched off and restarted following the installation of the app or new operating software - WMM (Wi-Fi MultiMedia) is activated on your router (if the setting exists on your router). If the app does find the product after refreshing the page several times but displays the error message "Connection failed. Please check the device.", then please also switch the options "Upgrade Notification" (only A/V receiver) and "Update Notification" to "Off". Next disconnect the Marantz device from the power supply, switch it on again and select a network source. Wait until the connected with the network has once again been established and to to use the app again."

Before finding the above, I performed many things including the items described above. However, in what order I don't recall. Anyhoo, what I did was => uninstall / reinstall the remote app > power off the iTouch > removed my NAS and 6006 from the dedicated IP address list in my router > reboot my router > turn off 6006 > unplug 6006 wait a few min. Powered on the 6006 + iTouch and the app finally saw the 6006 automatically. What's weird is using static addresses it didn't like (which seems backwards) meaning in the remote app, I had to manually put in the IP address and it would connect but media server wouldn't work. Performing the steps above made the remote app find the 6006 automatically and things are working as it should.

Does SR5006 has "night mode"?

You know, the option which compress volume dynamics, so you can watch movies on night
and be able to hear the lines but effects doesn't shake whole house.

In my old Yamaha RXV750 there was button in its remote to do that, in Marantz I don't
even have a clue where it is.
