Also I came to the Sony ex720 originally from a Sharp 60" that had a rebooting issue but the difference with the Sharp is that it happened with no consistency and happened much more frequently as the TV was used. Sharp replaced with a same size model that didn't have a rebooting issue but had severe flashlighting. Sharp support gave up trying to fix and gave me a full refund which I used to by the Sony model.
Quick question is the 64.5 hx729 matte or glossy screen?
Braint73, depending on the TV model some have Gorilla Glass and some don't. I'm thinking that since the HX729 doesn't have Gorilla Glass, it's probably a matte screen like the EX720. If in doubt, stop by a SONY store if one is close by to see for yourself.
My set reboots, along with others with this problem, with no consistency. Based upon my experience with the repair still not correcting the issue (started again a week after the repair) and others on this thread still having the issue after a repair or replacement, I'm figuring the model line itself has an issue. Whether software or hardware is up for debate, but the fact that SONY hasn't figured out a solution, it's a safe bet that it's not going to go away and the reboots may get more frequent as time goes on.
I agree that, like you, I paid for a 60" and want to stay with a 60" (or larger) at the resolution. However since they don't make the 60" EX line anymore, if they offer you a new model, you two choices will probably be either upgrade to a 65" HX and pay a price difference or try to reason with SONY and suggest a 55" HX but a higher version (HX850). Either way, if you get a HX model as a replacement, they have a 240Hz refresh rate which in itself is a premium upgrade to the EX720's 120Hz refresh rate and the 3D quality may be much better. You just have to weigh which is the best solution for your situation and what you ultimately want in the end.
