It sounds like there is a handshake issue between the 2 units. Cable boxes are notorious for having various issues. Could be a setting in the cable box, or something not right in the tv or cable box. Can you duplicate the problem on another set with the cable box? If you have warranty on your set you can have a tech come out to look at it as well.

I too ordered my 50" through Amazon and thankfully they accept returns with free delivery. A company is coming by my apt tonight to pick it up.

I plan on saving some more money and getting the Panasonic P55GT30. I've read a lot of good reviews on that set as far as performance and input lag.

I still haven't experience any lag to speak of. Was playing Infamous yesterday and found the controls responsive. Im not a console FPS player though so I can't speak on that front. Keyb/Mouse is the way I roll on that front. Obviously for the hardcore console gamer, plasma may not be the way to go, or perhaps another manufacturer with better specs in that regard.

Sad you are letting it go, especially for that 1 only reason given that you did in fact like it, not that I don't think it's not a legit enough reason to want to return. Best of luck on whatever set you go with but there is definitely lag on it. I didn't feel any lag on the expert 2 mode, thanks to you LEMM for letting us know, while playing COD Black Ops on 360, and that will suffice for me. Surprised no one else reported this especially on such a popular game. Maybe I missed somewhere?

I did in fact recently replace set, within 30 days, with their higher line PZ950 (cuz I loved the PZ750 so much, I had to shell out the extra cash on a good deal with 2 glasses and a 3D bluray included for a bit higher contrast ratio and Trublack Filter, didn't care much for the wifi dongle that comes included too...but I'll take it!). I haven't played on it the new set yet to see if any better with the lag issue due to process of moving out of town and packed up gaming systems.

I will definitely report back on this thread to let you guys know if it is better or not once I get settled into new place.

Peace.

perfect, gotta love features that I can't use anyways... :P services supported/ or not in the Canadian market can be frustrating sometimes. Netflix at least we can access but not the same level as the US either

I'm surprised that the PZ750 has not seen more discussion here. I was settled on the Panasonic 60" ST30 because it seems the consensus was it had the best black levels for the price. But then the 60" PZ750 dropped below my price threshold and Amazon had quite a deal for Visa Rewards card members, so I jumped. I should be taking delivery of it on Thursday evening.

In reading the comments in this forum and other reviews around the web, it seems the screen is reflective, which may be an issue in rooms where light cannot be controlled. I'll be placing the TV directly opposite a large window (71" W x 46" H) and adjacent to a smaller one (35" W x 46" H). Right now, both windows have mini-blinds but since I replaced all the windows in the house, I've been planning to get blackout cellular shades for the living room. Now I'm _really_ motivated to do it!
I have the 50PZ750 and the screen can be slightly reflective. The tv is placed adjacent to a huge 10' X 10' southwest facing glass window/door. The TV is watchable during the day even with that much light coming into the room (daytime viewing only accounts for maybe 20% of it's usage) but closing the blinds on the windows does improve the picture.

I have a 50PZ750 showing up later today and was curious about calibration. I know each set is unique but I've had pretty good results with some posted 20 point IRE settings on my PK550. Has anyone had this set professionally calibrated and is willing to share the settings?

I've tried my own calibrations with Avia and Disney's WOW but haven't had the success I've had with other settings that I've found online. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
I haven't had my set pro calibrated yet as cash has been a little tight this summer. Hopefully within a month or so I will be having it done.
I have calibrated mine with the Disney WoW and the picture has turned out pretty good, I am curious to see how much out I am vs the pro calibration though
post #39 of 136
Yeah I'll probably use WoW to calibrate it and see how the results turn out. If the WoW calibration seems to fall short I'd like to see your impression with WoW vs. a pro calibration.

I will be getting my set delivered around Oct 1 and was searching for info on calibration but found none. One of the sites where I read reviews on different plasmas and LEDs in making my purchase decision did have calibaration info on a large number of sets but this years LG plasmas were not listed (yet). If anyone can find calibration info or gets it done professionaly please pass the specs along.

As for lag on XBox Live, I am replacing a 2005 Toshiba 760p DLP, so even a minor lag will be a great improvement. I will look at make the adjust recommened by Lemm (thanks) if I do pick up on any lag.

One thing I didn't find info on was port labeling, does the set have preset labels for components, is so does it have XBox or game system, or can you manually enter them? My old Toshiba was limited in its labeling, drove my wife nuts.

Any advise for initial setup of the PZ750, settings, modes, avoiding self distruct feature?

I just ordered a the 60" PZ750 last night off of bhphotovideo.com for $1486. I'm stepping up from a 1998 Mitsubishi 55" Widescreen Rear Projection TV 1080i HD. This is huge to me and I can't wait to have the set in my house. I bought a Z-Line Designs Vitoria Stand with the integrated swivel TV mount with 3 open shelves to house the rest of my HT equipment.

Well I got my new LG 60" PZ750 and all I can say is wow! The picture is amazing. All I did is the THX optomizer video calibration found on THX certified DVD's. I would say this TV's picture is second best only to Samsung 7000 & 8000 plasmas. This TV is everything I hoped it would be and more, I'm very pleased with it. I have it mounted at the highest possible position on the Z-Line stand.

Why does this forum not regard these TV's as top notch? And why isn't there much info on them on here?

Great questions and they are the same questions most of us are asking ourselves. One guess is that folks are happy and not feeling the need to post too many questions about settings or issues with these sets. (I have the pz950 which is almost identical).
IMHO, the blacks is the only thing that many feel make the PZ's inferior to those other guys, not that they are bad, just that others are deeper and darker. I would still trade off the blacks for all else that rocks on these PZ's. Congrats on TV and enjoy as we ALL do!!

Well I have had my PZ750 for a week now and I am blown away. I was like a kid waiting for his parents to get up on Christmas the day the delivery company was due. Got the set set up and switched to a baseball game in HD and the detail was unreal. Played around with the various features, have a smart TV is like coming out of the dark ages. LG Apps are fun, menu is easy to use, still haven't gone into to tweak settings yet. Next I fired up Rage on the XBox and gaming was taken to a new graphical level. The next day played some Black Ops, going from my old DLP to this LG, I didn't notice a lag but actually noticed the lack off. Will still due Lemm's suggestion at some point but having to much fun with this TV right now. Football on Saturday (Go Irish) & Sunday (Raiders/Niners) was like a dream. I now have a couple of friend looking to up grade and are looking at the LG line on Amazon, can't beat the price v. features/quality. Will dig into the TV more later during the MN winter, but right now there is to much to enjoy.

still no settings for this set?
Anyone who want's to know why LG doesn't get a lot of discussion and/or is on the bottom of the list just one look will answer that question, the LG is the one on the top right- http://www.youtube.com/user/HDTVShoo...34/WIM8mXBfS9s

Don't get me wrong, I like Lg. I own two LCDs. I was saddened, even though I was not surprised, when I saw that panel.

Don't count on anyone posting calibrated settings. However, if you check the forum there is free information and downloads that will help you calibrate your set. Or check any THX cd you might own for the tools and instruction. IMO, the tv's wizard does a very good job and some reviewers and technicians have stated the same.

heartbreaking =( lol

I think next year is going to be very interesting for LG. It seems that they just need to bring the dark levels up because everything else is competitive.

Seriously, I do not believe I’ve seen the LG look so bad, I’ve the 50PX950 and compared this years Panasonic 50GT30 and LG 50PZ750 side by side in the THX modes and would be hard pressed to make a decision, the GT (which is close to the VT) had a slight advantage when viewing letter box as the black bars were a touch blacker but the blacks within the picture appeared the same but no where near as obvious from the HDTV shootout. Overall color fidelity I give to the LG PZ750, so a tuff decision.
Starting to wonder if LG really messed up on the assembly line calibration of their PZ950s as even the PZ550 and PV450 fair very well with apparent black levels when viewed side by side with Panasonic and Samsung, I've yet to see the PZ950 so cannot comment.
When I chose my PX950 I did my comparisons with the Panasonic VT25 and Samsung C8000 on a number occasions and still preferred the LG.
Almost makes one suspicious seeing retailers would profit more from selling the higher end sets but lets not go there.

Really, it is all about what the individual sees and his wallet (or her pocketbook).

The measurments reviewers provided, prior to this shootout, said it all and LGs blacks are high (even higher than last year?). I'm hoping that the THX and requirements for energy star are the reasons and something that will be greatly improved next year.

If I were to buy this year, it would be the Samsung since IMO it looked the best for the price. If I won the lottery that Elite would be on my wall.

I love the shootout even though waiting is stressful, however it is very timely considering all the prices are about to drop and continue dropping as the year closes.

No doubt, the LG PZ950 was ridiculously high, should never have left the factory
and it was almost sad to see it competing against the best, but the proof is in the pudding. If all the PZ950s are measuring the same it's possible LG pulled them all as they are still not available here in Toronto.

Is a 50'' pz750 too big from a viewing distance of 8 feet. Thanks for any info.

No and you could actually go bigger. I have a 55" with less distance and it seems to have shrunk.

Check out THX's recommendations for screen size vs. viewing distance.

I have a 60" LG PZ750 and I sit about 12' away and its a good size but I could've definitely went bigger but LG doesn't make bigger and my wallet wouldn't allow any bigger.

The black levels of my 60PV450 was nearly as grey as the video posted above until I applied the black level POTs tweak and now the blacks are nice and dark. They should tweak those settings from the factory?

Any THX certified dvd movie (cars, toy story, independence day, ice age, etc.) has THX optomizer in the menu usually under settings or audio/video.

Use that to do the calibration. I suggest using on of those dvds in a blu-ray player connected with an HDMI cable for best results. BTW to do it right for color and tint you need special glasses from THX. The glasses are cheap only $1.99 but shipping is about $10. This is how I setup my tv all my family and friends tv and any customers that I do HT setups for. My results have been amazing and every single person couldn't believe how much clearer, sharper, more detailed, and full bright colored it made their tv.

You can also download a calibration disc from...

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=948496

Burn the AVCHD exe. on to regular DVD+R (if u have BluRay burner and disc, then HDMV) and most blurays will play. On top, go to basic settings and follow steps. HD Nation folks have a tutorial right on disc! can't go wrong especially when free! TV also has built in Blue Filter so don't need glasses to set color and tint.

Hi, I recently purchased a 50 in. PZ750 and everytime I turn it off it seems to turn itself back on about 5 min. later eventhough nothing that is connected to it is on. Has anyone else experienced this or does anyone have a fix?

Thanks!
Hey Guys, considering getting a PZ750, can anyone that owns it confirm if it does or does not have the Tru Black filter that the PZ950 has? LG's website is useless, and keep finding conflicting info on the web.

Thanks,
