Hehe I feel you. I REFUSE to use a shield on my monk and go all-in with Dual-Wield!

We cleared act 2 before the 1.0.3 patch (act 3 still demolish us atfer 1.0.3). I can still farm pretty succesfully in act 2 (without Mf gear tho so no real use).

I'm in act 2 inferno with my Wizard alt, I should give it a go but I'm busy farming act 1 with my monk rolleyes.gif Every time I'm logged my friend want to Farm act 1 instead of progressing with our DH/Monk combo or Wizard/Barb rolleyes.gif Act 2 is easier now with 1.0.3 but even if the wasp doesn,t run so much now and inflict less damage, they are still a trouble for melee!!!!

With your stats tho, I'd say you're good to go for Act 2. What skills are you using? Get lots of LoH also tongue.gif My monk was rocking something like 650-700 all resists, 33k hp, 15K DPS when we cleared it (3 man group pre 1.0.3 Barb/Monk/DH)

How about Ground Stomp with the Wrenching Smash rune?

So useful, I love this skill on my barb and love it when the barbs I team up with use it when I'm playing my Wizard. Just throw a couple of blizzard on the barb, stomp and let the magic begins tongue.gif

I am currently using frenzy, war cry, revenge, ignore pain, mauraders shout (battle), and wrath of the berserker. I really don't want to give up battle shout, but may have to for leap or ground stomp. The thing that is really hurting me currently is my weapons....an upgrade is 4+ million easy, and I need 2 frown.gif. I currently have a ~740dps and ~650dps weapon with about 800 total life on hit between them and my amulet/rings. Upgrades are just so spendy for a barb, (I geared my wizard for inferno for a fraction of the cost).

My barb isn't in inferno yet but my friends who play Inferno barb aren't using Battle shout anymore. Yeah it's a nice DPS bonus but the survivability from other skills are so much useful. My friend was rocking something like 26k armor (while using Leap) but something like 10k DPS. It,s just long when you play solo tongue.gif

Weapons seems ok for at least act 2 (my monk uses ~850 and ~585 Fist weapon).

Barbarian seems to be the new favorite class so the gear price are going up like crazy. This and the critical hit chance/damage gear (which will probably be nerfed next so no need to spend all your gold but if you have items SELL SELL SELL tongue.gif)

Heh, I am actually thinking of swapping out battle shout for earthquake wink.gif. That + wrath is some pretty insane damage. I will make it through act 2 one way or another. I just hate that act. Act 1 and 3 are so much easier for me in general, (less ranged mobs).

I never used this skill but my friend does and it's a great DPS skill.

Does anyone have a spare trial code? I have a friend I want to introduce to the game. I bought D3 online and didn't get any trial codes.

I think I still have spare codes. I'll try to remember to send a code when I'll have time tonight but this won't be until later during the evening, have to spend some time with the girlfriend before she leaves for the whole weekend biggrin.gif

Up until Hell you can go with whatver skill/combo you,re having fun with smile.gif

At one time I was rocking Wave of Light - Explosion light (I think it was that one, the AoE all around) just for fun and fast AoE damage. Comboed with Resonance and Transcendance, I had infinite Health/Spirit regen biggrin.gif

Whats this about increase drop rates? I've been using the same 2 crossbows with my demon hunter in hell mode for over 8 levels. I've found 2 legendary items in total. One is for a level 16. The other is for a level 40. I've got blue's on my level 58 with better stats. This game is so unrewarding it's sad. The only thing that will keep me going onto Inferno mode will be if Chuck Norris himself crashes through my window and pats me on the back for a job well done beating Diablo in Hell mode.

Start focusing on resists. Fire seems to be the easiest one to raise, use one with everything and get your fire resists up to over 650, this will raise all your resists up to 650. Life on hit gear will also become a neccessity. I have been getting handled in act2 I'm thinking if I can hit somewhere around the 1000s resists i'll be good to go. Monks are lucky they have the "one with everything" perk. It makes getting our resists high acrossed the board a lot easier.

all resists are equally easy to raise, it rely on gear. I decided to focus on Physical resistance because it was the one I had the best gear for whenI started pumping one resist. Kind of regret it since it seems to be expensive because barbs want to stack it too rolleyes.gif

LoH is very important for a monk or LpSS (Life per spirit spent) can be effective for some builds. I didn't really gave it a shot but some monks are having great results with it. I have a 39,4 LpSS mod on my weapon and it can sometimes help to just spam Mantra to get the 2k Health back wink.gif

One with everything is very usefull once you unlock this passive. Party with a Barb using the shout that boost resists and you are in the 800+ range easily.

There is more drops but the RNG are pretty weird. I love getting a nice ilvl63 rare and to identify it and having stats that are crap. The best are class specific items with stats not very useful... Dex on a Wizard Wand.... rolleyes.gif

But, it is random and once you get a good or perfect roll... biggrin.gif And it's also the RNG that makes everyone go and say: the next one will be the one.

But I have to agree on legendary, they suck plain and simple. They will be buffed in a patch so until then, I'm not really excited when I find one. Only good one I found (probably found like ~6) was Obsidian Ring of the Zodiac... and by good I mean "ok" . I could get a wayyyy better rare ring in the AH.

I can't say how much more enjoyable act 1 inferno is after getting resists up to 650 plus and some decent life on hit gear. I prefer daggers because of their speed and a shield also will help your surviveability immensely and won't impact your dps too negatively. Figure a 600k investment. To get through tier 2 expect to invest quite a bit more. Once your surviveability improves, runs will be quite profitable and much more enjoyable with 5 stacks of neph valor if you vendor your blues, and sell the materials you salvage from your junk yellows. I was on the verge of hanging it up, but am having lots of fun now smoking butcher and elite packs solo. Never thought it would be possible. Its sweet being able to stand in in flames, and run through the arcane lasers a few times without getting vaporized. Resists could have made hell a lot more enjoyable for me too, but inferno is a different ballgame. You had best get your gear in order. It will force you to sacrifice some dps for surviveability unless money is no object for you. I'm guessing for another 1 to 1.8 mil investment I will be able to blow through act 2 without too much trouble. Wizard/Demon Hunter in your party could help with the ranged enemies a lot.

I am glad things have turned around for you smile.gif. If you ever want company on a run, you know you can always jump in with me. Now that you are not so squishy, you will not die as often wink.gif. This game is totally gear driven. I would say if you have 30k+ hps, 6k+ armor, and 650+ resists, you should be ok in act 2. I did it with 32k hps, 25kdps, 6k armor, and ~600 resist all. I was a little squishy on elite packs, but I think I was just getting bad rolls on their buffs. I have ran act 2 a few times since, with little to no trouble, (and haven't really upgraded anything yet).

Edit: One other thing, if you are walking through Act 1 now, don't try the same on act 2...kite mobs to get them to seperate a bit, (elites), and burst them down. They hit A LOT harder in act 2.

Here's a video on how to get cheap gear on the AH for Inferno.

Is Life on Hit applicable for a wizard or is it only for melee characters?
It works for Wizards as well, but is not a requred stat as you would rather boost damage or mitigation instead, (you shouldn't be taking a ton of hits). My wizard runs inferno act 1 with 16k health, and no life on hit. My passives and energy armor, along with 1k+ regen per second, keep me ticking wink.gif.

That makes sense. Most of the npcs seem to be melee and not ranged.

Are you using gear with Chance to Crit?
I Am trying to get more chance to crit gear, but it is the fotm, so it is rather spendy. I have a fair Amount of crit damage gear though, which is nice.
I just found out that a trial account can only play in single player mode. Bummer
post #449 of 583
Can someone explain to me attack speed vs crit chance and crit damage? Why is chance to crit flavor if the month. What can i do to maximize my build in regards to these things. Right now i am at 15% chance to crit, 75% crit damage and 9% attack speed. Am monk and i like using fast daggers.
Attack speed - improved attack speed ups your DPS by making the weapon hit faster, (or improves your spell cast time).
Crit chance - a 5% crit chance will increase your chance for crits, (yellow damage), by 5%
Crit damage - if you have a crit damage modifier of 100%, and your base DPS is 20k, your critical hits will be in the 40k range. More crit damage modifier means harder crits.

Attack speed used to have an edge on crit hit + crit damage, until they halved the values on all gear. Now stacking crit hit and crit damage will give you a higher DPS as opposed to attack speed.
