Diablo 3 - Page 17

Bye, your loss. Not trying to be mean, but the game rocks. Best looting in a game like forever, and the AH adds another element of getting loot and expanding the game. I think this game rocks. Sure, other games did things better, but its hard to beat a great looking game with great sound/music, that is so addictive to find that next piece of rare equipment to see what it is. Not to many games can make me stop in my tracks and drop my mouth open when I see the color of the item is orange instead of yellow.

The complain about doing the same thing over and over makes me smile a little. Did you play Diablo 2? I've played this game since it's release and as far as I remember.... Diablo 2 was all about running the sames bosses for drops and Baal run (post LoD) (add also Chaos Sanctuary run)...

The core mechanic is still the same, wait for loot to drop! I think people that get hooked (like me) is a little because of a gambling/playing tendancy (I don't play at Casino but I'm always telling me : Next pack will drop THE item and keep going for another 10 minutes).

Guess you don't have that "gambling" habit and the game isn't for you. I know that me and my friend keep MFing to get the best drops and get better gears and such. We might not be references since we played D2 : LoD since launch wink.gif

I have my Demon Hunter and Monk farming in Act I inferno and am still having a blast. I do wish better loot dropped a bit more frequently and you didn't have to rely on the AH so much to gear up. The loot hunting is still incredibly addictive with the potential of that next great find just around the corner! I got a legendary drop early in Act I yesterday. It was the Mempo of Twilight helm. The stats were rather underwhelming though. Wondering how much I can sell it for. I've only got around 2mil and am still waiting for that great drop to start my bankroll.

I guess it's back to Warden/Butcher runs smile.gif

A glitch was just revealed that makes a wizard invulnerable to everything. Hopefully Blizzard patches it soon because it is going to ruin the auction house for people that play normally.

I think it was already starting to get fixed yesterday. At least with the downtime today, they will probably fix it. I have a lvl 60 Wizard and wasn't tempted to try it last night. I prefer to play legit cool.gif (and get destroyed! tongue.gif)

Speaking of my Wizard, was able to raise my DPS to 38K. I would like to get 45K+ to be able to mow ennemies pretty quick smile.gif

Did you just now get your wizard to level 60? I think the weakest of anyone I have is the monk. But I'm able to survive much more from all the healing abilities. Wizards at 56K. Only person that I don't have level 60 is witch doctor. And I never will.

I had an H of a time trying to kill Diablo on Hell mode until I found that if you use the shadow power you are invulnerable. Even though it is 1.5 seconds (wth a rune) you can re-cast it immediately. Then add the skill to instantly restore your discipline and you can cast shadow so many times in a row that it made the battle sooooo easy.

My Wizard was my second toon to lvl 60 ( Monk, Wizard, Barb last week). My monk is the more versatile one since it,s the one I prefer and invested the more in. I have MF gear, DPS gear and I'm now starting to gear him for tank mode. Last night I gave it a try with my friend DH and we cleared siegebreaker quest with maybe 2 deaths getting NV5 and killing probably 7 packs of elite + siegebreaker. There is still lots of improvement that can be made to my Monk but I'm having the most fun playing it. I'm usually at 16k DPS MF gear, Last night I was at around 24k DPS in tank gear (all unbuffed). I need to get myself a nice 900+ claw with 600+ LoH and crit dmg (and maybe a second one for DPS gear). My claws are now at 755 and 725 DPS rolleyes.gif

What are your monk's stats and build? My monk doesn't kill as fast as my wizard in group but for single target and an attack speed at 2.00, it's pretty good biggrin.gif

Smoke screen spam is still possible? I was under the impression they nerfed it so it wasn't possible anyumore.

Smoke screen is indispensable to the DH. With preparation you can cast it several times in a row. It also helps to have +Discipline gear like on a quiver, hand xbow or chest armor.

I'm having a hard time farming though with my DH in Act 1 Inferno. I have to kite most elite packs and it takes a lot longer. My DPS is around 25K. I got a nice 2-hand crossbow that boosted my DPS a good bit but I just can't stand the slow attack speed.

I've been mainly farming with my Monk who I find to be much more versatile. I use Fists of Thunder with Quickening rune to keep my spirit levels high and spam my Mantra of Conviction with Transcendence for healing plus added damage. My DPS is around 20K. I tried Act 2 but got slaughtered by the first elite pack. Invested in some All-resist gear and got my resists up to 730. Hoping to get that to 850 to be more comfortable in Act 2.

Dashboard:

How much did you invest in your MF gear? Are you noticing a real improvement in the drops with it? Also wondering if I need to go with a shield for added defense Act 2 onwards. Are you staying with a dual-wield setup?

Are you using a quiver with your 2h crossbow? I know it might sounds dumb but my friend found that out a little before level 60 wink.gif

For my monk Mf set, I probably have invested less than 2M (bought Tal's armor 250k, boots at like 50k, bracers 35k, helm 250k, ammy 400k, found gloves, belt, shoulders, and both rings) and I'm sitting at around 280% MF with NV5. Act 1 is easy farming (around 16K dps, 40k Hp, 220 resist lol, 30-45% dodge depending if I use fleet floot to run faster to clear faster or the DW passive). I drop alot of stuff but not always good rolleyes.gifwink.gif Last night i had 2 lvl 62 ring drop, 1 lvl 61 ammy.... all crap... but REEEEAAAALLLY bad. However, i usually get a legendary per day for 1-2 hours farming. I usually farm with my friend he's around the same MF as me since we don't want to drop the MF average.

I cleared act 1-2 Dual Wield. We made it to Siegebreaker using DW (but I wasn't the tank, we had a barb with us). When I coop with my friend DH, I just started using Fist+shield but I would much prefer using DW... monk + shield doesn't connect in my mind wink.gif We we able to progress a bit in Act 3 while I DW with my friend DH but not as successful as sword/board. Also, solo DW wasn't very successful last night in act 3 biggrin.gif

Yeah, I use a quiver with max discipline and crit chance. Haven't invested in a cloak with max discipline yet...the ones I saw in the AH were pretty pricey.

I got some cheap MF gear on the AH and I'm up to about 100% base MF without NV. I'll take a look at Tal armor next. Hopefully I'll start getting some good drops now!

I don't think you need max discipline everywhere. I don't even think my friend's DH has any in fact. A chest wih lots of Dex, Vit, all resist and life regen might be more useful.

I use Tal's armor only for the IAS bonus because the MF isn,t superior to any rare armor you can find. The All resist are nice tho and also mine has Dex/Vit.

My MF ammy was a blue 29% MF ammy for along time after I found a nice 33% MF, socket, dex, vit, rare ammy for ~300k on AH.

I like having extra discipline because that is just more smoke screens I can spam but you can certainly get by without it.

I looked at a few Tal armor sets but I didn't see any with Dex/Vit at my price-range which was disappointing. I guess I have to keep searching and wait for a good deal.

I might try and pick up a GF set for my DH and do some Act 3 runs in NM to save up for it in the meantime.

You could probably pick a rare armor with equal MF stats, compared to Tal's. I also looked for fun for Blackthorne Pants (spelling) and there were nice ones for 250k with 15% MF, 15% Gf, LoH, Dex, Vit, etc.

Last night we made incredible progress... in fact, we cleared Act 3 Inferno cool.gif Two man team, the DPS machine DH and my Tank Monk smile.gif We died maybe 5-7 times in the whole procress (started at Siegebreaker) mostly to some OP combinaison : Jailer,Plagued, Arcane, Fire Chains eek.gif Also, I was wearing my MF shoulders up until Cydea before i realized it tongue.gif It helped alot after, went from ~640 AR to 749 wink.gif . After that I also bought a pair of boots : 150 Dex/Vit, 50 Phys resist, 40 AR so I'm now at around 790 Resist all in tank gear smile.gif

It's fun to tank but I much more prefer DW with my monk. Lots of upgrades need to be made because we can clear Act 3 while I DW tho wink.gif

I also switched a couple of skills to help my build : I used Sweeping Wind - Cyclone instead of the one with more dmg since I have 27% Crit chance. It is amazing!

Ditched the DW Passive for Transcendance instead of Resolve to get a bonus healing while spamming Mantra. Tried FoT - The extra 15 spirit/ crit but I felt slow moving around with Thunderclap,s teleport so I switched back. Maybe with 12% Movement speed I would use the crit one to get more Spirit to spam more Mantra to get more burst of healing rolleyes.gif

My MF gear has already paid off! I found a nice 860dps Axe with 90% crit damage and life-steal that I sold for 2.5mil so I have a bit of a bankroll now smile.gif I also found a nice amulet Dex/crit chance/socket that I can use. After that I upgraded my chest armor with a MF set with similar stats to what I had previously for 250K.

Congrats on completing Act 3! I'm using a similar build as you though I have not made much progress into Act 2. I got my resists up to 750 with about 25K dps and 25K life so I'm hoping I can handle it now. I'd prefer to get to the point of farming act 2 because act 1 is getting a bit stale.

Do you have any experience with DH? I'm debating whether to switch up and go with dual 1-h xbows repacing my 2-hand bow. I'll have to ditch my quiver but I can get a xbow with max discipline on it. Also the archery passive gives me a 10% crit boost so I can safely lose the crit chance on my current quiver. Have to see if this will improve my overall dps or not. I guess I should probably run some numbers through one of those dps spreadsheets floating around before I spend too much dough smile.gif

Nice! Congrats on the drop! MF gear increase the % of chance to have a drop but also, the quality of the item you get (% of chance of getting higher affixes, I think I posted the link in previous post).

Farming Act 1 does get stale and we were tired of doing it so we gave Act 3 a chance. Leveling other toons also help change the pace tongue.gif

I don't play DH (mine is lvl 22) but my friend (always play together) is maining the DH and he gave the 2X 1 xbow a chance a couple weeks ago and it wasn't very conclusive. Maybe it could be better for you but the drops he got from switching was pretty important in non-calculated stats. The DPS and Crit difference wasn't so bad and the IAS was stable (DW gives 15% IAS like the quiver) but his quiver had about 8% Dmg boost to Elemental Arrow (it was actually my quiver but I sold it to him since I don't use DH alot so far). My DH is using Dual 1h xbow but like I said, at level 22.... not a reference at all biggrin.gif

Using 2h weapon for DH seems to be the way to go tho and I tend to think this way (even more with my friend testing it) since the 2H has a higher base dmg, which is calculated for the skill's damage and the crit dmg. The only bonus of using two 1 hand xbow would be a bonus in stats but the Quiver gives it for DH, compared to other classes that can't use any off-hand while 2handing.....

Only scenario I think 2X1h xbow would be better is with GODLY gear. I mean the damage would be incredibly higher with 800+ DPS 1 hand Xbow, 200+dex, 100+ Crit dmg but those would be... damn expensive biggrin.gif If money isn't an issue, it will be cheaper to go the 2h route.I can talk about my monk play but it's getting pretty expensive to buy 2 comparable claws to have a DPS increase since the damage is average between both....

After clearing act 3 using a shield with my monk, I knew this wasn't the style of play I wanted so gave DW a try and it wasn't a success...

Started shopping for a couple of upgrades since I had 28 millions in stash wink.gif

Bought a weapon for 11.3M (841 DPS, 774 LoH, Str-Intel-Vit (between 50-110, wanted Dex but they are pretty expensive), crit dmg 50-something %. A loss of 900 DPS in MF gear, since I don't have high crit chance in MF gear and my previous claw had 725 DPS but 272 Dex on it tongue.gif In full DPS gear with crit chance it's a gain of roughly 3K DPS.

Act 3 in DW claw solo was fun, pretty easy NV5 run with random death due to some champ affixes. With my friend DH we steamroll (also except some combos).

I then proceeded to improve other piece of gear that needed an upgrade. Bought a pair of shoulder for 1.15M and a ring for 3M (Dex,Vit, IAS 7%, Phys and All resist (I stack Phys resist and needed a boost of resist without sacrificing a IAS or crit chance/dmg).

Expensive day, spent roughly 16M but now at 30K DPS, 43K HP, 800 AR, armor is 5500 I think (or maybe higher, I think I have something like 65-70% dmg mitigation) (point to raise if I'm only at 5.5K since I'm using MoE - Hard Target but would love to switch for another, tho I love the 55% dodge (60+ temporary after activation tongue.gif). Crit chance 27-29%. Crit dmg a 145% I think. Crit dmg boost is low but still serve me right. I barb that just started Inferno is at 248% Crit dmg boost biggrin.gif (but my monk survive alot better wink.gif)

I think it gets more difficult to DW with a Monk after Act 1. I wasn't able to make much progress in Act 2 until picking up a shield for added armor and resists. My DPS really didn't drop that much with the shield and my survivability improved immensely! I don't think my Act 1 MF gear set will cut it in Act 2 because of the lower resists so I'll probably have to spend a bit more to farm there.

I did find a nice 1110 dps hand xbow during an Act 1 farming run this weekend. I think I could sell it for a few million but I think I might hold onto it because it boosted my DH's dps by 10K eek.gif I really like the faster attack speed of the hand xbow but this particular bow does not have any dex or crit damage which I miss. Still should serve me well for a while I think and anyway I prefer farming with my Monk right now.

Also found a nice shield which a sold for 1.5 mil so just have to stick with the farming to increase my bankroll. Still waiting for a set item to drop though smile.gif

I was DW when we cleared Act 2, it was hard but possible. With my current gear it would be easy probably. I always refused to use a shield with my monk but Act 3 was destroying me and I was burned down from farming Act 1 and wanted to try to progress... even if it needed a shield tongue.gif

I'd keep the xbow if it raises your DPS by 10k and you play your DH. Buying a similar weapon would cost you a couple of millions so selling this one for millions and buying a new one for millions.... pretty much a circle. wink.gif

Don't worry for the set, it took me alot of farming time before finally finding one! I actually found 3, the 3rd one being worth something!

My friend (always play coop with him) and I were farming again this weekend and saturday, he found 2 legendaries and 1 set pants... nice Inna's pants roll. Me.... just crap tongue.gif We were both MFing with 285 MF with NV 5 smile.gif

Is he DW? How much armor/HP/Resist? DPS, LoH?

What skills are you using and what kind of strategy are you using? My monk is pretty strong but I still need to be cautious and always check the ground bellow me, if I stand in plague or molten, I'm fried like a barre of KFC in a matter of seconds! If there is no affixes like that tho, I can charge in and just stand toe to toe with the monsters and spam my mantra to keep dodging tongue.gif

It is not you. My barb destroys act 2, but is destroyed in act 3 as well. I am running currently with 42khps, 35k dps, 1200 LOH, ~300% crit damage, 7000 armor buffed, and 550+ resist all, (550 being the lowest one). I run with ignore pain, wrath of the zerker, war cry, battle shout, frenzy, and relentless. I am currently DW, and trying to avoid a shield, so I am upgrading armor/weaps slowly. Currently trying to get an amulet upgraded from 360 LOH to ~500+ LOH, while not dipping my DPS too much...talk about spendy! I am almost to the point to where I might try to just throw on a shield and see how I do, as the extra armor and damage absorbtion will probably make Act 3 easy for me, (my gear is pretty good overall)....but I just am having a hard time with the concept...barbarians dont use shields damnit! eek.gif

I am almost to the point to where I might try to just throw on a shield and see how I do, as the extra armor and damage absorbtion will probably make Act 3 easy for me, (my gear is pretty good overall)....but I just am having a hard time with the concept...barbarians dont use shields damnit! eek.gif

Act 3 is a pretty big jump from Act 2. The problem with the barb is that if you get surrounded, you don't have alot of big AoE effect that deal massive damage except Earthquake. So you're toe to toe with lots of ennemies Frenzying like crazy and mowing them down one by one mad.gif While trying to survive and getting hits from everywhere. You have the flying thing shooting fireballs at you, the Pestillence one dropping poison pool at your feet but you can't escape because you're surrounded rolleyes.gif

Maybe my issue is I started to use a shield. I figured it would help me survive a but more. But it isn't. Don't have enough gold to get any kinda of upgrades. So I guess I'm at a stuck point or something.

Grind act 2 elites for gear, and sell it to get what you need.

If you get bored, PM me and you can run them with me. I have a pretty good route mapped out for act 2, and can take you through it if need be, (I get somewhere around 15 elite packs in a little over an hour...even though it will take way longer with help smile.gif).

You should try tinkering with your sound settings, perhaps even turning off the sound altogether! I hear that works wonders for improving kill ratios in other games! wink.gifbiggrin.gif:p

Sounds like amazing advice. Maybe to good to be true. Love the idea of a high KD on a game like Diablo.

Act 4 cleared! I soloed the whole thing. my DH friend joined me at Diablo to get the kill. He didn't want to do the whole Act lol.

I could have cleared Diablo alone in fact, it took us 3 times. My friend died pretty often also tongue.gif

We finally managed to kill him pretty easily with some stupid and I still can't figure how death in first phase. Took second phase easy and third phase, my friend died at the end, revived him and Diablo died seconds after lol. Should have left him dead. smile.gif

Grats! I am still stopped at act 2. I am sure I could plow through the rest if I threw on a shield, but damnit...I still refuse....eventually, I will either get the weaps/gear to continue dual wielding, or break down and equip my shield rolleyes.gif. Overall, my gear is pretty nice, I think where I lack is mainly the weapons...I haven't found the 980+ dps ones with the leet stats yet eek.gif.
