I've just calibrated this set with the AVSHD disc,. And Mitibishi has got the defaults really close. One reason why I' would not worry about a picture. To me It
s really amazing they did such a good job, with the picture settings.Course everybody's mileage will vary. I'm using a Panny BD 320 when calibrating.and Denon 991 receiver.. Course not much is touched by either, but a little by the receiver. ( can't believe it's a little better).

I have read that the harmony can be programmed with delays between commands. You might find out the details if you do a search for your remote model.

ok. i haven't searched yet. but tv shuts off with a rapid green led blinking. This happens like once or twice a month...what gives ?

Should I take the plunge? TigerDirect has this set for $780 and some change with free shipping and no taxes -- I'm in a small studio apartment right now with a 6 year old 46" plasma, and while this set is probably overkill in terms of size for my viewing distance, I'm really into the idea of having a true home theatre feel for movies (and lots of video gaming). I've done plenty of research, so I'm aware of some of the issues people are having with these sets/DLPs in general; namely, the white dots from the DMD failing. That being said, how concerned should I be with these dots/issues? Should it prevent me from buying the set? Would I be better off saving my money for a 60" plasma down the line? I've got one more day of the $780 special to decide!

It thinks it is getting hot and is self protecting...how is your ventilation on the back side?

HI an thanks for your time. There is plenty of space; but as you know the country and my area is experiencing higher than normal heat wave. Plus I have 2x80 mm fans that I turn on. When I turn on the HT system cooling fans. But what you wrote is what I thought of, also. HEAT. But I could always shoe maker a better flow with something else.

Sometimes they'll go into protect mode with a voltage surge (also an issue during a heat wave) or a weird HDMI signal. Another thing to check is whether you have the latest firmware (13.06).

Hey guys, just spent 20 mins searching around trying to find the convos we had about 3D glasses in the past...

Just wanted to check to see if the consensus is still that Optoma ZD101 glasses are the way to go with these sets. I remember many glasses had a green tint, and I'm pretty sure that the 101's did not. I remember that a few posters did some comparisons side-by-side with pics, but I couldn't find them to refresh my memory.

I also remember True Depth glasses being well reviewed, but can't quite remember if they were free of the green-tint that was discussed.

True Depths are off the list now.... Assuming the 101's are still the champ?

Yeah, I made my mind up and now have 4 pairs of the ZD101's. Very few 3d Movies go over the 100 minute mark so the glasses are fine comfortability wise for that short of time. Even watching Avatar 3d I have not had problems with them being uncomfortable. Plus they come with 3 nose pieces which if some is having issues I would recommend changing out a different one. Overall, almost a year with my 73"640 I am very pleased. I have everything but the 4 new chairs with buttkickers which will be here hopefully by the end of August. (7.1 surround covered also.) I did notice this year the 642 series is in an 82 inch flavor, which I would have gotten this one in if they had it last year. Oh well. I will be happy till Mitsubishi's next big thing to come out.

Please let us know (in this thread) how you like the buttkickers... I've had my eye on those for a few years myself, but I don't know anybody that's tried them.

My Wd-73640 is getting delivered this Friday. I am trying to look for a stand teh fits this beast. And I only have an opening of 71 inches to fit it in. What are different stands you guys are using?

The TV is 65" wide, so it will fit fine. This stand http://www.amazon.com/Pinnacle-TV6073-Plasma-LCD-Stand/dp/B003M2KQ8O is one of the cheapest, unless you go IKEA or something similar.

This past weekend I updated my Comcast Channel List, which I color coded for the various boxes....
To do this I was channel surfing one at a time, to confirm the channels match my list....

I found that after 80 or so channel changes (across channels we don't have access of).... That the screen would blank, and green light flash.... then shutoff... I'd then turn it back on, and it did so, as if nothing un-usual happened at all.... After the 4th time I did this, over a period of 2 days (to finish the list from channel 1 to 700 or so)... I finally put 2 and 2 together, and figured out that this is following channel commands from the comcast remote....
We've encountered this, but it ALWAYS follows many comcast channel changes...

I can confirm that it did NOT follow an overheating..... I checked the first couple times this happened, thinking that this was the cause.... Not overheated... Always comes back on after the shutdown....

Hello everyone. I am a new member, but have occassionaly checked in on this site for years. I am soon to be the owner of a wd73640, via tigerdirect circa $790 recertified. I purchased this tv for a legally blind person, and am wondering about how to set the highest possible brightness, while maintaining good contrast for my friend. I am also wondering if it is best to purchase one of these all in one 3d bluray players/media servers, wifi connection enabled., with usb ports for media. I veared away from the 73740 because of the weird proprietary wifi link/usb wifi stick employed in that setup. For my money it seems better to retain full control of rhe media content for my tv, rather than relying on vudu apps. Please share your cofiguration experiences, along with your experience with tigerdirect recertifieds. Thanks

HI ALL, it looks cool; but if your like me you got a ps3 and 360 an avr an external amp..... need more space but as the saying goes; a shoe maker makes shoe's that fit...

I didn't put the legs on it so the TV sits about 10" off the ground and puts my face about smack dab in the middle of the TV when sitting down.

I got a great deal on this tv and read this 50+ page thread while waiting for it to be delivered. And Ive gotta say this TV is freakin awesome! It was shipped with firmware 13.05, which looked great when connected through composite cables but i saw the problems TTHOWL referred to when i connected via HDMI for 3D. But after updating to 13.06, which was stupid easy, The picture rocks again. The 3d is pretty sweet and gaming is awesome. I'm really glad I took a chance on this set. Built my own "Infotainment center" for it out of threaded rods, EMT conduit, and some cabinet grade plywood. Lovin this TV!

I have this tv and I'm looking to setup a media center pc for it. Can anyone tell me if there's any advantage to Full SBS vs Half SBS 3d blu-rays for this tv?

Dimensions are 53.6" tall on the TV with stand, 60.1" with speaker. The IKEA Lack is about 21.5" deep, TV is 17.5" deep. TV is 65" wide, IKEA Lack is about 58.5".

Gaming is fine. No lag at all.

I havent noticed any lag. Had to change the sensitivity setting in MW3 just because the screen is sooo big. Other than that everything works perfectly.

Have V13.06 loaded in my WD73640.

I have an OTA antenna on the 640, and work at a TV Station. We just implemented SAP at work, and I'm trying to verify I can receive it at home...

If I press Info, The Mits reports two audio programs... But when I go into the menu, to try and select the 2nd Audio Program, My selections are: Stereo and Surround...

I don't seem to be able to select SAP on this unit... Am I missing something?

On other TV's at work, I can select SAP, I can bring it up as a language selection. Presently our SAP is programmed to display 'Spanish'.

I can't find it on the 73640 menu with V13.06 installed....

??
