From what I have seen it was the biggest issue with Samsungs of the past. Don't worry, have had this over 3 months, great TV. Really pissed about paying 1349 vs. 699. WTF?? Maybe Mits said the hell with DLP after all and wants to clear inventory before CES. lol, I kid.
I think it's just the old Black Friday doorbuster type promotion but I hear you. I had to jump on it when I saw it. I almost bought the 638 last year at $1199
Wow what a price!
Just saw the price on best buy and could no believe. I had to come here and double check that I was looking at the correct model.
Here I was waiting for a sub 1K price....cant beat it!
699 plus 10% off thru discover. Excellent price I must say
Just cancelled my Amazon order and ordered through Best Buy. Called up to cancel and the person I talked to wanted to refer me to Walts since they are the provisioner. Funny, Amazon wouldn't let me cancel, but when I asked about returning the TV that was ok since it was within the first 30 days.
Strange but you have to ask the right questions, kind of like in "I Robot".
Went ahead and snagged it for $749 shipped, got the 10% cashback using my Discover.
I have to do a special delivery, which I believe means Best Buy will call me and arrange a time to schedule a delivery. At least this is what I'm guessing.
Taken from email confirmation:
Thank you for shopping at BestBuy.com. We'll get your order ready as soon as possible.

Going to sell my Sammy to a buddy of mine and make a profit.
Grrr... Bought mine last night from BB for 1199. Then I see them today for 699 and sold out. Best buy doesn't price match with their Thanksgiving day or black Friday sales either.
I've been searching the forum the whole day to find the best 3D glasses option for this model. So the first thing I should do is to decide to go with DLP Link or IR Emitter. It seems like Optoma ZD201 is the best option for DLP Link but it is not available in USA yet. Xpand x103 seems to be the best choice for IR. Should I go with IR or DLP Link? Also is RF a possibility? Are there other glasses I should think about? Your help is appreciated.
I really want one of these but I can only go with the 60." Does anyone know where you can still get a 60" online for a good price? I know Compusa is selling the 60" but only instore and I don't live near one
BestBuy still has the 60638 listed on their website but it's not a good price. I was hoping they would blow out the 60" after I saw their insane price on the 73." It doesn't look like Amazon or Dell are going to be selling the 60" anymore.
After searching on new tv to get for my new house, this one seem like a great buy and best bang for the bucks!! problem is i am affraid of the common "white spots", "black spots" that many older Mitsubishi DLP been having problem with.. Hopefully it wont happens to this new model.
Best price i found right now is from Paul's TV (link) for $1099 +notax+free shipping.
Add in 3 yrs extended warranty from Squaretrade for $90 for a peace of mind.
anyone else found a better deal somewhere else? Please chime in!
Thanks, but again I would like to find a REAL review by tech expert, of course googling "WD-73640" brings up nothing but places to buy the TV.
Is it because this TV is still fairly new, so no tech websites have gotten around to reviewing it???
Sorry. I didn't know for sure what you meant by a "real" review. I doubt you'll ever find a "real" review ever for this set. It's been out for quite some time.
Not only does googling bring up places to buy the tv, but it also brought up tons of non "real" reviews. Did you check any of those out?
I don't really trust "real" reviews anyways, I think there's the risk of the review being swayed due to advertising dollars.
I personally trust word of mouth on the street over a "real" review any day of the week. If there does happen to be a "real" review, I take it with a grain of salt.

Looks like you might be in luck. Best Buy is going to blow this out on Cyber Monday, $600

So Bestbuy is going to sell the 60" for $600 on Cyber Monday? If thats true it's kind of disappointing - I was hoping for $500 as thats what Compusa is selling them for... I mean Best Buy was just selling the 73" for $699 so $600 seems steep for the 60."

Sorry to be Buzz Killington but I wish people who only want to talk price and deals stick to Slickdeals or some other part of the forum. It used to be AVS forum was just the hardcore techies. Seems harder now to get good technical feedback on here than back in the day.
Sorry to ask again but anyone have any detailed feedback on DLP link vs IR emitter for 3D? I did see and appreciate DRAVEN's input on the DLP Link 101 glasses he favors. Can anyone add to this or offer opposing views? Any technical data as to how well DLP link method syncs versus IR emitter?
Are IR Emitters more sensitive to line of sight ( one would think ) versus DLP Link?
I've been watching the 73" Mitsus for over a year and jumped after getting the Best Buy deal. After researching the death I think I am going with the Optoma ZD201 glasses.
I am looking to get a 3D Blu Ray player. I am leaning towards the Sony BDP-S480. I don't need WiFi as I already have a router in the TV stand (for Slingbox among other things). Any suggestions one way or another that will match up with this TV well. I am guessing most of my 3D content viewing will come from my DirecTV box but I might be renting a movie or two here and there. Thanks in advance.
Anyone who bought their WD-73640 on Thanksgiving from BB for only $699.00 shipped, have shipping confirmation yet?
I ordered mine at around 8 am that day MST and it still says
Order Status: 1 item(s) - order at warehouse in process of shipping.
Damn they sure are taking their time with this thing.
I was hoping maybe they'd throw it onto a truck from 1 of the nearby BB's to me and just deliver it that way. Sure as hell hope it's not being shipped to me from 1000's of miles away.

Same thing here. Its probably because of all the craziness from Black Friday. I got my 67" to hold me over so I'm not too worried. Be nice to see my Houston Texans play the Jags on it though, but I'll be ok.

Sucks about Schaab! I had him on quite a few of my fantasy football teams.

I am in the same boat as you (same order status). I live in an apartment building. Do you guys have any idea how the "Special Order" delivery works? I hope they don't leave this gigantic box in front of my apartment building.
