I got a replacement July build yesterday and the tech didn't do anything specific in terms of o-rings, he said if there was a fix it would have been done already before they sent the new panel.... So I wanna know if mine has the fix or not...

my replacement tv will be delivered tomorrow between 9am and 2pm. pretty good window

going to run it for a day or weekend before I give it to my brother really want to see if it peels again. (my money is on yes)

The Tech did the O-Ring on mine. Its been over a month.No peeling yet.

I was not home when the work was done, but I did remind them twice on the phone about the o-ring fix service bulletin and the wife got a snide remark along the lines of "of course we did" when she asked about it when they were replacing it....so I would hope so, and I had assumed that they did.

Hope mine came with the o-ring fix built in. If not I'll keep calling. I have 15 months to keep getting replacements....

People with the O-ring fix, does it put pressure on the glass screen and if so does it create a uneven surface around where the pressure is applied? Thanks

It o rings or washers if u like are placed between the bezel and the screen creating a little gap which is supposed to stop the real black filter from peeling in the corners.

I'm un-packing my 64D8000 tomorrow, it's been hear since Monday in the box, can wait to watch the F1 on it this weekend )

an Aug 2011 build showed up today. white glove service from samsung too, guys looked at me funny when I had them set it up on my dinning room table. gonna run it and see what happens.


so Aug build seems to throw much less heat then my May build?

Biggest difference I have noticed in the August builds no longer use the same AR coating.

I've had 4 64" D8000's and 1 panel swap.

1st 3 screens were the nice dark AR filter which shows just a dark reflection.

Last 2 TVs both august builds have a completely different AR filter which shows multiple rainbows emitting from bright light sources like ceiling lights.

This is on 64" D8000.

Aug build runs very cool compared to my may build and my vt30. No idea why. Brother comes to get it this weekend starting to second guess that decision.

Just took delivery of my 59D8000

It is a May 2011 build
Really disappointed because I waited as long as I could, ordered it on Aug 25th and still have an old build...Also powered it on and I heard a buzz and was like WTF is that then I noticed it was the TV I was only 1ft away so I'll see how it is in practical situations but so far I am not thrilled with the build date and hearing buzz

EDIT:
Started running the break in slides and no dead pixels except buzzing is pretty damn loud at about 8ft away
My 1st plasma and I am pretty surprised at how loud it is

EDIT:
Wow!!! 40 minutes into break in slides and it is a peeler....HUGE about 8" x 2"
My wife pointed it out while she was peeling off the protective coatings

Hopefully US Appliance is ok with sending a new one. I think I'll wait about 2 weeks in hopes of getting a new buid

My Aug build so far looks great.

Also, Samsung picked up the defective unit fairly quickly, so I just have to wait for the refund check now.

65vt30's are under 3k now. just a thought. I got tired of sh!tty customer service and said F it. Aug build seems to be better but it's only been on a few hours.

I just commented in another thread how incredible the picture is, but the god damn buzzing is ridiculous. I am actually glad I started peeling because now I have a valid reason to send it back and ask for a new one where buzz is subjective.

I just can't see spending $1,000 more for minor improvements and 6". $500 more and I would make the dive
I've thought about switching to 55VT but don't want to give up the inches for the same price

Do the VTs buzz?

The buzz is partially subjective. They have a volume test they require the techs to do. I think the sound is set to a certain level and if they hear the buzz, they replace it. Otherwise, they don't.

The problem with the volume test the screen is 98% all black when they do it hence there's not much power being used by the TV, it's not a true test for normal viewing conditions, the buzz is a lot louder when the screen has a high contrast picture or a all White scene, the sound test should be done with a White screen.

You can hear the buzzing...Is this normal?

This is from 11ft away...I was wrong with my earlier guess of 8ft

Here is my peeling, it hasn't gotten worse since I pushed it against the TV...other than the 2 bubbles and small peel up top.

I measured my original peel based on the spots my finger left behind and it was 8" x 1.5"

that is a buzzer for sure...unless the microphone is amplifying it some how.

That would drive me nuts in about an hour. Totally unacceptable, as it's clearly audible with a normal volume level.

I have a 2010 model Samsung that makes no buzz at all with normal content. With a totally white screen, there is an audible buzz but you must be within a foot of the screen to hear it with the tv sound muted. Any level of volume on the tv speakers and it is inaudible.

I consider this acceptable as part of the technology. Clearly not what was demonstrated here.
