Nope. Only a pricey version of 5.0X from chinese "students" is available for 150€.

Is there anyone who found a solution for de-centralized subtitles?

I wonder if this is fixed in CFW 5.X versions?

I would sell the LX-55 and look for a BDP-450 with FW2.05 instead.

What does that offer me over lx55?

When using CFW
- BD(3D).iso/BDMV over usb/NFS
- region-free DVD/any region BD

Hi! Can the BDP-140 display 2d for 3d material?
ralf1,

if you don't have a 3D-TV, you'll get the 2D-picture.

If you put a 3D disk in when you have a 2D TV it will refuse to play the disk and display a message stating that you don't have the correct equipment to play the disk. Some 3D movies are both 3D & 2D but most are just 3D unless stated.
I already have a 3d tv but I guess I already got the answer here. If the disk has a 2d option, only then will it be played in 2d if chosen. Right? Actually I was thinking in the line that the player would still be able to display in 2d even though the disk only has 3d option by using only the left eye view. Well?

Hello Advizer,

To avoid any misunderstanding, I'd like to ask you again.

Are you exactly saying that with different region Blu-ray disc, external subtitles (Sub.srt on a pendrive) will not work for BDP-140?

Actually this doesn't make any sense to me. I have some different kind of region Blu-ray.iso s. I change the player's region (Inital Menu->3344) when it's necessary. After this, I can watch all these movies with external subtitles wihout having any problem.

It will. It was just a joke after having seen the same question for the 100th time.

By the way, I saw you also from htforum from Brazil and ixbt from Russia and I know you have good know-how with this player. So, could you please inform us for the 2 issues below. There are some confusements abot these. I'm pretty sure both two are available, but I just want to be sure.

1- Does BDP-140 have 1080 upscale feature?
2- Can BDP-140 play .mkv s in 1080p ?

I'll appreciate if you don't make joke again biggrin.gif

Thanks in advance for your help.

How can I test this feature? If you need good DVD-upscaling (for projector, etc.), you should look for a BDP-450 cause it has a Qdeo chip.

Yes, it can. There are two issues regarding video playback I'm aware of
1. BDP-140/150/440/450/LX-55 isn't able to play MKV-files with DTS-HD. Use tsMuxer.
2. It won't play video files with "High Profile 5.0/5.1". Use tsMuxer.
Regarding mkv with dts-hd, I believe this file can be played because I saw "dts-hd ma" appeared on my onkyo receiver. I'm using bdp-140 with cfw 4.03.

Thanks for your reply.

Actually I'm not very interested in upscale performance. I just wanted to know if it can or can't. It was a discussion elsewhere. It was being said that BDP-140 may not have this feature according to User Manual or Specs. page on Pioneer website. But there are also many reviews who says BDP-140 has a good upscale performance.

I'm also aware of HD audio issue with .mkv s. This is not big issue for me, my Neo TV 550 will handle these kind of .mkv movies. However 1080p .mkv playback issue was important for some friends who will decide buying this player.

Anyway, thanks again.

Yes it does, Sigma 8642 chip, HD audio support and blu-ray.iso full menu support.

It can play all kind of movies over network and you can reach and control the device with PC.

But, it doesn't support 3DBD.iso of course.

I am interested in a Pio BDP-140/150/440/450/LX-55

mostly for playback of 3D bd .iso from usb hdd like my Oppo can do.

which model should I get where I wont have to pay for CFW which I never heard of paying for CFW which I think is illegal.

Anyone have or know of one of these models that already has a CFW that will at least allow it to play 3d bd .iso from usb hdd just like the Oppo's.

thankis in advance.

I think the BDP-150 is the way to go as i can find it cheaper then the 140 but want to make sure I have the CFW before I order but dont have time jump through Chinese and Russian hoops.

There is a link to the cfw for bdp-140 and bdp-440 on page 51 post 1504. This is the activation free cfw (no payment needed). I only managed to get the cfw for bdp-140. After that I got the last unit of bdp-140 (display unit) at the local electrical shop and the rest is history. biggrin.gif

Buy original BDs, why bother? You have to install a CFW anyway if you are interested in BD3D.isos. BTW, the Cold War is a history.

HI guys,

It's my first post here.

I found some hacked CFWs (we call it "jailbroken firmware") for BDP-150/440/450 at an Chinese forum, version 4.03 for 150/440 and v5.05 for 450.

All of them are activation-free and have been tested, but I accept no liability.

Here is the link: http://pan.baidu.com/share/link?shareid=308686&uk=2197935109

Somebody at that forum said he was working on a free v5.08 CFW for BDP-140, it will be released soon hopefully.
