Pioneer Blu-ray players 2011 - BDP-140/BDP-440/BDP-LX55/BDP-53FD - Page 55

Hi ralf71,

it's diffucult to say as I don't have any receiver but MDR-DS7500. The problem has also been discussed in a Chinese forum regarding CFWs. A forum member who develops new CFWs (they are not for free there) has confirmed the issue with MKV+DTS-HD. He recommends to use BDRemux as well.

Couple of questions i have with this unit and the custom firmware:

1. Does the 140 do 1080 24hz output say if a 24/ 23.976fps file is being played via usb. Along with this, will it do 50hz output if a 25fps file is being played?

2.Also regarding mkv and HD audio - if i am playing via usb and not network, will i still experience issues with playback? from reading various posts i get the impression that this is more of an issue when playing over the network due to bandwith... please can someone clarify.

Many thanks

1. Yes. Yes.
2. Yes, you will. You have to convert MKV+DTS-HD files into m2ts using tsMuxer.

Thanks for your reply - much appreciated!
So which would be the better one to go for? BDP-140 or 150?
Has anyone tried the 150 CFW as posted in this thread earlier on, on their 150 unit - does it work?
The 140 is becoming quite hard to buy now brand new...

You are welcome :-)
Either BDP-140 (any FW) or BDP-150 (FW1.02 only) or BDP-440 (any FW) or BDP-450 (FW2.05 only). You decide.

Couple more question (sorry lol)
1.
So am I right in thinking that the cfw allows this playback of 24fps files at their ideal resolution of 24hz or 25fps @ 50hz. Reason I ask is I have been eyeing up a pioneer 62FD Elite which has been modded to allow multi-region. I asked the guy selling to test a sample file of mine from a bluray rip which is 23.976fps to see if it outputs @ 24hz. I was suprised that he replied and said no, it outputs @60hz. This leads me to believe their stock firmware doesn't allow such actions??

2.
What are differences between BDP-140 & & 150 in terms of current state of custom firmware and their features?

3.
How hard is it to revert back to stock firmware if cfw doesn't work out?
Thanks

1. He should sell Easter eggs. Pioneer BDP-450/62FD is multisystem (PAL/NTSC) by default. The original FW2.05 is slightly different as there are neither Pandora nor Picasa for BDP-450. You can try to flash 62FD with 4.04 on your own risk.
2. 4.02 for BDP-140 doesn't have a bug with alphabetical chaos. S/PDIF (140) vs. digital Coax (150). FW1.05 only critical for 150.
3. If you take a red pill, can you wake up in the Matrix as a slave? Downgrade would be possible and would make sense only for 140.

Ok.. Changing the subject slightly.

Does anyone know if the Pioneer BDP-450 can handle the new HFR 48fps ( 48 frames per second) used in The Hobbit movie.

It's just coming out on bluray and uses 48 frames per second rather than the normal 24 frames per second.

It's the first movie to use it

Mort.

I don't think so. Maybe this mode will be supported in future FWs or you'll have to buy a new BD-player.

Most Players support up to 60 fps, it'll be interesting to see..

Could someone kindly post me a link to the activation free cfw version 4.02 for the bdp-140.
thanks

I don't think there is one.. Just the 4.03
post #1636 of 1726
if you want 4.02 - don't worry about activation. it's dead easy. pm you serial and MAC if you don't want to mess with MTKPio yourself and you will get your activation code.

Hello,

I am interested in a BDP-450. Sorry to ask an probably already asked question but if I am only interested in USB playback of ISO fils and BDMV folders which would be the best firmware? 4.04? Will that require activation?

I have also read somewhere that the CFW will mess up the HDMI ports of the BDP450 and it will loose the ability to recognize the EDID of the display, is that true?

Thank you very much in advance!

Any proof links?

Hi all, as others, I'm somewhat interested in one of these pioneer units to use with custom firmware. What I'm wondering is, is there any readily available custom firmware that allows it to be used as a network media player (i.e. store ISO images on an nfs or smb nas) and play them.

If they do,

Do they have "library" functionality, or are you just be navigating a folder structure?
Even if navigating a folder structure, do they have any sort of idea of metadata one might drop in the folders? (ala images to provide a thumbnail for the directory / iso / movie file?)
Do they easily support multiple file shares?
Do they have any restrictions on what they can play from the network (vs. usb or optical media?)

trying to get a handle on what can be done. thanks!

1. just a folder structure. Look for a Dune.
2. no, they don't. Moreover the CFW suffers from "alphabnetical chaos".
3. ???
4. no.

There's CFW 4.04 for BDP-450. However, in order to be able to install this CFW, you need to buy a BDP-450 with FW2.05.

Changed key to sign the firmware
Change your security code activation firmware 1 1 2 2
Change the password to change the region 5 5 6 6
There can not be rolled back to the old firmware
The algorithm activation firmware. The activation code can only be bought on a Chinese website
Increased recognition speed USB device is 10 times
Faster loading video from USB 2 times
Fixed to work with external subtitles
Fixed. The player is not overloaded after flashing
Fixed. When multiple files with external subtitle file is loaded by default, the same name as the video

There is a 5.05 too.. I don't know what that has..

Any news on the 5.05 on the features? Also I'm assuming the 5.x fw also support ext2/3/4 ?? Thanks
post #1643 of 1726
Ralf71,

5.05 is only for BDP-450. It has the same functionality as CFW4.04 does. It might be activation-free, but I'm not sure. I don't know either if it's stable or buggy. Ext2/3/4 is supported by CFW 4.03/4.04 and higher.
Thanks Advizer. I guess I should be asking this in the 450 thread. It's good to know that ext2/3/4 is supported.

thanks for the reply. what I meant by multiple shares is be able to configure it to look at multiple locations. i.e. I have multiple file servers at home with different content.

currently I use a netgear neotv 550. works pretty well overall, but doesn't support 3D. Been wondering if there's anything that I can future proof myself with with 3d blu-ray and menu support.

With that said, a BDP-450 isn't easily available in the US (the 150s are, but harder to find that with the right firmware).

look for a Pioneer Elite BDP-62FD with FW2.05 ;-)

This is the US verzion of the 450? I would assume that any new one probably has a bad firmware for upgrading purposes?

It would also seem that any firmware that support smb/nfs has a sort issue (or so I gather from reading, i.e. would need 4.04, but 4.03,4.04 have the issue).

and remember my context, pretty happy with my NeoTV 550s, just looking for something that is a bit more future proof ala 3D (And supports menus, like my NeoTV 550s)

Looks like. If you don't get the FW you need, you can send it back, right? wink.gif

i am aware the bdp-140 only supports up to Level @4.1. My question is, do the newer models of the pioneer such as bdp-150 and the 450 support higher levels i.e Level 5.1
Thanks
