All I need is a PDF manual, and I'll be able to decide whether I get these players or not.

Any updates on the expected release of this player? think it strange enough the 1121 has yet to appear as well.

I don't know about you, but I have a good feeling about these new players! Once I read the manual, my faith and doubts will be as confirmed as possible.

It may be a while before we hear about these. Oct. is the relase date. I am very curious about dimensions ans weight. I would also love a dvd audio FW upgrade.

The joint venture that never happened was the Pioneer + Panasonic dealie. Elite-branded Sharp-made TVs are soon to be released this year.

I want the Elite BD players to be a true Pioneer but I honestly doubt it. They already closed their BD player manufacturing plant, fired all the workers. It's very unlikely for them to re-open the manufacturing plant and re-hire workers.

Again... however, I still wish the upcoming Elite BD players to be a true Pioneer player.

I can't imagine anyone buying Pioneer after the 05/51 models.

Sharp has their work cut out for them because thier aquos TV's are no Kuros.

Perspective of the 05/51 hinged greatly on the temporal nature of ownership - to many (myself included) it was an incredible bargain. The 320/23 was in a lot of ways the finished version of the 51/05.

In my humble opinion, these stand as some of the best true blu ray players ever made. Full stop.

What Pioneer has quietly slid on to dusty shelves of Best Buy over the past two years is crap not worthy of the two AA batteries in the remote.

Fingers crossed they can breath some life into what used to be sitting at an incredible axis point of performance and value, allbeit slow to load a disc!

I can't imagine you could name a better player in the same pricerange when the 05/51 came out. The Oppo wasn't out, all there was was the panasonics with lfe bug and cruddy upscaling and overpriced denons with same LFE bug and other problems on top of it that required sending the player back to denon for repair.

But, yeah, I could see how the 05/51 could scare a tech newbie...

Does anyone know if these players will have source direct? That's probably the best indication if we're dealing with a Pioneer or Sharp.

The only people know about these products are Pioneer employees but Chris Walker never posts here anymore.

He and I regularly traded PMs for a while, but have not heard from him in a while.

I would curious to know if Chris Walker even works for Pioneer anymore. He went silent right before the whole Kuro loss and the change over to the Sharp built Blu-ray players.

I saw him at the Pioneer booth at CES 2011. So at least he's still there in January 2011.

why? the BDP-23/320 is a follow up to the 05/51 models with faster loading time, far less dodgy disc recognition, better upscaling. The only drawback on the 23/320 is the lack of WM8740 DACs.

Let us know if you speak with him. He was such a valuable asset to this site and for us Pioneer fans. I really hope that he can shed some light on these new players!

If Pioneer could combine the streaming apps and dlna recognition (hello WMA lossless) of the Panasonic BDT210 and combine it with the video of the Oppo BDP-93 plus traditional Pioneer fantastic audio in the Elite, Pioneer would be on a great start to regaining lost ground.

Anyone get an updates on this?
