Denon DHT-1312BA NEW

'We almost feel guilty putting the Denon DHT-1312BA in the Home Theater in a Box category. The Denon AVR-1312 is a 75 watt per channel receiver with five channels of discrete amplification (the 110 watt spec you may be seeing is into 6 ohms), a new GUI with HDMI overlay, 24 bit, 96 kHz DACs, support and decoding for all the latest HD audio codecs, and four HDMI 1.4a inputs (3D and ARC supported). The Boston Acoustics MCS 160 speaker system sports four matching satellite speakers with 3" mid-bass drivers and 1/2" dome tweeters and a sub with a 100 watt subwoofer and an 8" long throw woofer. All this for $600? With the technology of one of Denon's newest receivers paired with the sound quality of Boston Acoustics, the DHT-1312BA is sure to be a big seller.'

For those curious to know when this is about to hit the stores... well, anytime soon!! They said it should come out this month of May!! Also, comparing this unit to the Denon DHT591-BA, it will NOT come with the Audyssey's MultEQ dynamic room acoustic correction system's microphone...

i seen it at best buy yesterday. i bought my dht-591ba on clearance for $500 and my bro got his for $450 for open box. i personaly dont see enough upgrades on the new model to pay the same as the old model. Im very happy with my 591 and its rated at 120x5 at 6ohms. do you know any good enough reasons to upgrade to the 1312? as for people that cant get or find the 591ba the 1312 is a great buy,but i would jump out and try to get a clearanced dht-591ba and put a bestbuy geeksquad warranty.
Just noticed u said it's not coming with the mic? That's a must for people like me. Out the box I don't know enough. I would have taken it back for how bad the 591ba sounded till I used the mic. After the mic I fell in love instantly.

The Denon 1312 does not have Audyssey room calibration. That receiver is actually the replacement for the Denon 391, not the 591. It is a $249 MSRP receiver.

You'd be better off getting the 591 if you can find it. The replacement receiver for the 591 is the 1612.

Wow that's crazy. Why would they downgrade? I'm glad I got my 591ba. I hope there's a dht-1612ba for not to much more

You could get the Denon 591 and add this Boston Acoustic CS2310 5.1 system and still be just at the $499 price range. And you get better speakers than the ones that in the 591 BA package. You actually get a 10" subwoofer too.

Boston CS2310 5.1

Nice. I already got mine now. Got from best buy for 599+ $50 gift card. So not to bad.

Just can't believe denon would downgrade there bestbuy package deal

They didn't "downgrade" it...

DHT 391 became the DHT 1312

The DHT 591BA should become either the 1612BA or the 1712BA(depends which receiver they put in the box)

If you all notice, the AVR 391 has been gone for over a month. The 591 is still out there. The 1712, its replacement, isn't out there yet. So you can't compare the DHT 591BA to the DHT 1312.

The DHT 1312BA doesn't come with the Audyssey room calibration mic, but you can always get that bundle, then go to your nearest Best Buy and get a AVR 591 or the AVR 1612 that comes with the mic, hook up to your 1312 to calibrate it. Afterward, return the receiver with the mic for a full refund

It seems the Denon DHT 1312 BA has been released to the stores. Anyone who grabbed it, could you post your initial feedback on it?

Not really, the Denon 1312 doesn't use Audyssey at all and there is no place to plug in the calibration microphone. The small input you see on the front of the 1312 is a stereo mini plug input for a mp3 player or other portable audio device. Not for a microphone.

Better off just buying a 591 or 1612 and getting the speakers you want seperately. Like the BA speaker package I linked before.

Why wouldn't it be a downgrade? The DHT-591BA cost $599 brand new. The new DHT-1312BA just came out and it cost $599. If the 1312 is = to 391. And the 391 is < the 591 that would make the DHT-1312BA a downgrade from the DHT-591BA

The 1612 is the 591 replacement
The DHT 391 had "un-branded" speakers.

The DHT 1312 gains speakers tagged BA.

So they UPGRADED the 391, creating the 1312BA...

More than likely the 1712(1612, whatever) will come with the same speaker package(both tagged BA now) at an appropriately higher price point over the $600 1312BA.

The 1612 is the 591 replacement

The DHT-1312ba is an upgrade over the denon dht-391xp

The 1312 is a down grade in features mainly the receiver versus the 591

There are some slight differences between the too with the 1611/1612 being 7.1

I'm Just going by Bestbuy http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....egories&ks=960 it says the 1612 is 600 watt 5.1. And compared to the 591 the specs are almost identical with the few upgrades.

Thanks I check denon's website and I am surprised they down graded from the 1611 to 1612
post #17 of 24
They didn't downgrade the 1611 to the 1612. Denon is getting rid of the 3 digit receivers and only going with 4 digit models now.

1312 replaces 391, 5.1 no Audyssey, MSRP $249

1612 replaces 591, 5.1 with Audyssey MultiEQ, MSRP $349

1712 replaces 1611, 7.1 with Audyssey MultiEQ XT, MSRP, $399
post #18 of 24
@ AfroGT

You might want to check the 1712...(I did this a while back and forget the actual model numbers)...but....

1612 has Auto correction (some version of audyssey)
1712 has HDMI upconversion but loses auto correction.
1912 has both Auto Correct(different than the 1612) and HDMI upconversion.

That is the progression...maybe I have the receivers wrong?
look at my post again, I said the 1612 has Audyssey MultiEQ. It is the 1312 that has no Audyssey.

1712 has Audyssey MultiEQ XT which is better than the MulitEQ which was on the 1611.

1912 has Audyssey MultiEQ, an ethernet port so you can stream Pandora and analog to HDMI conversion.

I just saw a deal for the 591ba system for 500 dollars and put in an order for it. The store I ordered from ran out of stock and is offering me a free upgrade to the 1312ba system. Will I be losing out on some features other than the audessey setup. Will there be a loss in quality at all?
I wouldn't make that deal.

Buy a Denon 591 seperately and better 5.1 speaker package.

Jamo A340PDD.5
http://www.vanns.com/shop/servlet/it..._c=site_search

I think Audyssey is a valuable feature. I wouldn't want a receiver w/o some type of room calibration.

Don't do it!! I've ordered it (Denon 591BA) from electronics expo and they offered me an upgrade to the 1312. I stupidly went for it. Couple days later I got the package... The receiver sucks big time, it's a total downgrade from the 591!! I'm returning the package and I'm expecting my AVR 591 from Vanns beginning of next week. I'm gonna add the Energy Take Classic 5.1 speakers and sub, but there are a lot of options out there, such as Jamo.

I agree with afrogt, Audyssey it's a must!!

Hope this helps!
Thanks guys. I also stupidly went ahead and took the "upgrade" before anybody replied. Im gonna go ahead and order the 591 and separate speakers and just return the 1312.
hey fellas I got the denon 1312ba here unopened and after seeing this I will return it asap. What do u guys think about the Onkyo HT-S5400 for $600?

Or would u guys even consider a refurbished denon 1612 $225 ,1712 $302 or 1912 $310?
