Yes, I need to keep the WAV version. My Smart D1 player does not play the W64 file.
Without wanting to become embroiled in the overall discussion here, I would also say that this has been my experience with Panasonic players. I currently have a Panasonic DMP-BD35 which is fairly old by relative standards and it has never failed to play any one of my discs properly, and has never had a firmware update since the day I bought it. I also have an Oppo 93 and this has required several FW updates to ensure its compatibility with all discs. This is not a criticism of the Oppo in any way, but it also makes one wonder how Panasonic do it, and if they can do it, why can't all the other manufacturers? My Panasonic even plays the DTS-HD MA audio track of Total Recall correctly, whereas on the Oppo the sound has the now infamous drop-outs, and so far at least, there has been no FW update to fix it.
