Any Hobbies other than Gaming? - Page 6

I am going to bore you all with some more airsoft stuff and ramblings...

Well as predicted, my bad back and lack of full mobility has cost me a lot of money spent on airsoft (chairsoft) stuff.

Two new genuine Surefire weapon lights (M952 and M951), which cost a fortune. I wanted them for IR, thus Xenon bulbs.

A genuine Surefire HL1-A-TN Helmet LED/IR light. $$$

Four IR reflective Canadian flag patches and some IR glint tabs (hard to find or get or import to Canada).

A real ACR MS-2000(M) Marker Distress Signal/strobe. Just for the looks, I could have gotten a non functioning airsoft one but the real deal was not overly expensive (ebay).

Real USMC desert MARPAT FROG combat shirt and pants. Wanted a desert camo to replace my khakis. Couldn't find Canadian CADPAT AR (desert) camo.

MAGPUL PTS CTR (mil spec version) stock.

Two Element replica Surefire weapons lights (M952V and M961). Decent and very bright LED lights. No IR.

ACM replica Surefire helmet light, cheap clone. I wanted the Picatinny rail mount that it comes with to use on the real surefire light.

Two new lids, a replica Ops-core Carbon Jump helmet (not a cheapo) and a DoD spec'd/contracted (Protech made ?) light jump 1/2 shell helmet.

Couple of NV mounts and NV helmet attachments.

Another replica Elcan Specter 1x 4x scope. (lot cheaper then the 1st, tho not as good quality)

Another clone Trijicon Reflex sight

Another clone EOtech holosight, mod 557 with side mounted controls to use with 4x magy ala MW3 () and NV device.

An Avocado Burst Wizard (control number of rounds in a burst). Wanted it for the M16A4 to do 3 rnd burst.

Some more real Safariland holsters (M9 and USP 45)

Bunch of other misc airsoft related parts.

Biggest purchase was another M16. A G&G M16 (A4) RIS MAX. Biggest disappointment also since after less then a week with limited testing (got it Mon and now Sat when tested) the gun started to go bad . It keeps firing after trigger release for a few rounds when on auto and the motor gets real hot, also smells like there is an elect short in the fire selector/motor. Didn't meet specs either, suppose to shoot at ~480fps but chrono at 380-400fps. Since the gun is under warranty I am trying to RMA it.

Added a nylon/polymer rail bottom for the AK47, the wooden lower on the Romanian AK was loose, slight part of the wood fell off .

A ContourHD 1080p helmet vid camera and accessories.

Boy hate to see the credit card bills...

BTW I forgot , a CASIO GW-9000A-1 Mudman watch...ala Battle Los Angeles movie. I had to , another 4am ebay purchase .

Gosh, Tinker. That's easily several grand of gear there.

Gotta take some pics of that stuff, man. I'm really interested in what you think of the burst wizard. I also wanted to get one to pair with an M16... if I had one.

Well you can almost double the cost of all the stuff over the US prices due to the high cost in Canada for any of the stuff.

The Avocado Burst Wizard works as advertised. Very easy to set up.

The minor issues are that it uses small Tamiya connectors and some of my guns use DEAN connectors. So it's 50/50 with my guns. Also even tho the Avocado is small it will not fit in a buffer tube with a battery. So it will work with full stock guns like the M-16 or front mounted battery M4. Prob fit in most airsoft guns that can accommodates a large battery in the front handguard. Will not fit in an AK which uses stick battery in the upper receiver.

@Tinker
How did you fit the surefire suppressor on your m14? and where did you get the barrel extension thats between the sights and the suppressor?

I got the extension from Ebairsoft

http://www.ebairsoft.com/type-barrel...on-p-1445.html

The Surefire comes with a CCW threaded flash hider that is specific to the Surefire 7.62 Suppressor. I was lucky since this is the only WE rifle I had that uses a CCW thread, my M4 and SCAR both uses CW threads. The Suppressor is QD with the supplied flash hider/suppressor combo. The suppressor flash hider looks like a M4 bird cage type but with a an extended sleeve that goes down on the barrel (extension in my case). I needed the extension since I could not remove the WE M14 flash hider and I had to cut it off so I could install the EBR kit. I installed the WE EBR short outer barrel and sights and put on the extension so I could still use and hide the original longer inner barrel. Hope that explains everything .

I still think with the money you guys are dropping you ought to just buy the real things Oh sure, you don't get to go wildly running around the woods shooting people with them, but you know......I mean....maybe you could....Canada right? Lots of open spaces.....
For those are still interested. Airsoft related.

I got the G&G M16A4 back from RMA. Since I was forced to pay for the return post (~$40), I demanded a new gun and not repaired one since they ship me a defective gun from the git go. They said the Tech look at it and there were probms with fire selector and trigger and the wrong spring (M130 instead of M140) was installed from the factory.

I converted the M16A4 to be a DMR. Now I have a gas M14 EBR and an AEG M16A4 as DMRs. Life is "almost" good these days....

I set the burst wizard for 3rnd burst on full auto with the M16A4 DMR. But if the field insist I will set it for 1 round only, thus the gun will shoot only semi regardless what I select the fire to be. This way I can still use the 450fps limit for sniper rifles. I don't want to down grade to 400fps esp if I plan on using it as a DMR/sniper rifle. Now just waiting on some Magpul Green label (meaning cheaper) M16 shortie ver PMags to come. I decided to get the 50rnd PMags instead of the more realistic 20rnd PMags. I hate to carry all the mags when out in the field. Lazy and old and weak.... That will complete the looks and as every knows airsoft is almost 90% about the looks .

I also got a SAT VVD device that is a replacement piston that allows variable adjustment of the FPS by adjusting the air flow. I will install when I get off my butt in my G&P C8 (CDN M4) which currently shoots at 450+fps, too high for field use here.

Well one of the two Element Weapon lights that I got failed. It dimmed after just a few uses. It was the Surefire M961 clone. RMA would have cost $10 just to ship the buldb back so I said screw it. I since bought a new real Surefire M961. The clone M952V is working great.

Still no pics sinec I have not finalize sone the toys yet.

Can not really do that in Canada since we have very restrictive laws here on gun control even for legal gun owners. I mean for example just to have a hand gun (god forbid if you want a semi assault rifle and don't evn think about full auto), you need a fire arm acquisition lic. then a restricted gun lic and a bunch of other stuff, then a transport lic to just get the gun from the shop to your home and then to the range. The guns must be locked in a safe separate to the ammo which also has to be locked away. They don't want you have a loaded gun in the house. But then if you are a criminal then you can fore go all the above....

What I have spent on airsoft stuff I could have bought the real thing in the US and prob cheaper too.

BUT THEN, I wouldn't be able to go "running" around shooting people .

BTW Airsoft guns in general esp the all metal ones are in the grey area of legality in Canada. It really depends on who you talk to as what is legal or not.

Airsoft related post for those interestd.

Being out of playing because of my back and winter, I been doing a lot of buying. I just gone "hard" lid crazy. I hated helmets before since they get heavy and real hot in the summer. Right now I am so bored that I just been buying all these RS and China made replica helmets. Some are great and others are so so. Funny thing is that I will prob only wear one or two of them and would most likely just keep wearing caps.

List of LIDs

1)POS Pro tech clone 1/2 frame helmet, one of my 1st helmets. Just pure cheap crap. Almost no padding and crap strap, also gloss black. POS, cheap price. $20-$25US. Put me off of helmets for long time. You get what you pay for.

2)IBH, used many times, great fit but got real hot. NV mount that nothing current will fit. Good with headsets. So so padding and strap, matte black. Medium weight. $60-$65US

3)MICH 2000, NV mount, nice fit but again hot, so so with headsets. OD color with decent padding. Good strap. Heavy. ~$60US

4)MICH 2001, tight fit (large head). NV mount.and side ops/arc rails. Great with headsets, so so strap. Light/Medium weight. Matte black. $35-$40.

5)ProTec B2 (Omar Kassan) skate Army Green helmet, great air flow and super light, bad with headsets, Good padding. Only single point skate type chin strap. Ebay $35-$40US but got ding on ship.

6) A-Alpha Half Shell.

Company Info: This item is produced for the DOD and not a Pro-Tec product. The new PT A-Alpha Half Shell (15 oz) for Peltor, Bose, Sordin, LightSpeed, and Dave Clark head sets comes with nape pad, multi chin strap, and goggle strap holder. You can either cup the chin for a more stable NVG platform, or use as standard under chin strap. NEW 2-1-10 impervious to water x2 strength strap. Non corrosive black zinc phillips bolts throughout - can field strip complete. Non reflective matte colors. Dynamic porting and REMOVABLE EVA foam for maximum comfort and breathability. HAHO/HALO Jump Tested 20,000 +. Designed for comm system support. Drill pattern includes MICH/PASGT/Norotos mount types (rectangular and triangular). Tactical Light option has 3 modes (High, Low, Strobe). Waterproof, Shockproof, MIL Grade. Click on helmet to see large image.

http://www.protechelmet.com/proddeta...d=4811931HSmil

Great helmet. Light weight, great airflow and works great with head sets. Good strap and padding. One of my fave right now, I got the flat black with just the two side rails. I will add a NV mount later. Newer version goggle strap holder is not as good as the older version that used a snap fastener. The new version is just a clip that my goggles strap keep slipping out of. Prob replace with a snap goggle strap retainer. Mine cost ~$70US with two side rails before ship cost.

7)Ops-Core Fast Bump Carbon replica. NV mount and Ops (ARC) rails. Medium weight. Great airflow, great strap system and decent padding. Tight fit for me. I got the tan and that will be one of the helmets along with the A-alpha that I will mount the ContourHD cam to. $125cdn before tax and ship.

8)I just ordered a MICH 2002 to round out the MICH collection. Plain jane OD color and heavy. I will add a NV mount later. $50-$60US

All the MICH LIDs has covers. OD, TAN, Marpat desert and MC.

OK now I am broke again.... But at least this stuff cost a lot less then the Surefire lights. Also added some Tactical Assault Gear (TAG) field gear (vest, M4 and M9 mag pouches) all in CB color to go with the USMC Marpat desert stuff I got earlier.

OMG !!! I am an addict....

More car stuff!

A short run in my M400 recently:

Also I have done alot of stuff to my 1968 Torino GT. I lowered the car quite a bit, put practically all new suspension components on, went from 3:08 gears to 3:73 gears, added a limited slip differential, blah blah blah. Still have lots to do to the car.

Last time I posted a pic of the car:

How it is now:
Seriously, that Torino gives me wood, its "almost" a Mad Max Interceptor, and since we aren't seeing many Falcon's this side of the world, the look of your car is great in the satin black....at least it looks like Satin.....very nice pairing, black and chrome, outstanding!

I organize death races featuring gladiator type autos. Races conducted in secret world wide and televised on a covert satellite network. Forunates to be won by participates and gamblers alike. Of course, the down side is the causlty rate. For a radical twist the gamblers face the same fate as the drivers. You place a winning bet you become filthy rich. Conversly you lose......well, I thing you get the picture.

Ooooh....I think I saw Lunchboxes and T-Shirts for "Clandestine Gladiator Death Races!" on Home Shopping Club network last week...it was right after their Hummel Figurine Sale and right before the nightly Knife and Sword Festival....

lol nice.

And yes, that's satin black.

Hey surprised no one noticed I hit 170 in that vid of the Noble (watch in 1080P). Still pulling hard too.
I noticed. Just too jelly to say anything about it.
MUCH better lowered! Though I'm not a fan of satin black, it's still a nice car!. I've been a painter for 15 years and I'm a little blah with satin because of how many kids that come in and want satin black everything lol
post #171 of 187
Ok so my Noble video above did not do the sound of the car justice. It is much louder than in that video. And people are always telling me how good the car sounds. So I bought a cheap mic with a 20 ft cable and taped it to my bumper and ended up with this video.

Airsoft related for those still interested.

Added a few more airsoft guns and field gear to my collection. Some more AEGs, Added a WE M4A1 (their 1st ever) AEG,and two AEG SVD DMR rifles.

Correct SVD PSO-1 Russian style scope for the SVDs are not cheap. You need the correct type for the correct eye relief on Russian guns, diff then western type scopes. The best one I got was the Real Sword PSO-1 ($$$). Pretty darn close to the real real steel version. A cheaper China made clone I got came dead, the LED was not working, but then the light inside the PSO-1 are not that bright any way. Good for day light.

I got a CYMA AEG SVD (real Russian style, actually Chinese ply wood cool.gif) since it was a clone of the Real Sword SVD which is the gold standard for AEG SVD rifles BTW which also cost a fortune. Since CYMA makes rock solid gearboxes for their AKs I thght that it would be a safe bet to get the SVD even tho I know its not a V3 box like the AKs. I guess not. I shld have just saved some $$$$$$$ and got a Real Sword SVD. But then I also seen the Real Swords on Utube showing locked up gear box since it's also a semi only airsoft AEG also. With most AEGs when you lock on semi, you just switch to auto an fire a little and that norm will fix the probm, but when the gun do not have an auto option, well you have to take it apart.

The new King Arms SVD AEG is all black with plastic (polymer???, prob more plastic then poly) hand guard and stock. Specs look decent . The King Arms SVD AEG side rail scope mount is out of spec, neither of the PSO-1 would fit out of the box even after adjustments. I was intrigued by the quick change spring option to change the FPS but I guess I will not find out until I can get it fix, that's IF I will get it fix other wise it will become a wall hanger. It also has a full auto mode, which is a pro and a con. Pro, some lock up issues can be remedied quickly , con is a field might not allow it in play as a sniper since it's higher FPS and has a full auto fire option which might exceed the fields FPS limit. IMO... just stay away from the King Arms AEG SVD.

Never ever buy a an AEG semi only sniper rifle, unless you can afford a Real Sword. Both mine has had the same probms. The gear box will lock up or die when you try to do quick double taps. AEG are just not meant to be fire in semi constantly. They just can not do it well. I actually had three AEG SVDs so far. The 1st Cyma SVD, clone of the Real Sword SVD, gear box went whizzing on day one, RMA at my cost ($37). Then while I was waiting for it to return I got a King Arms SVD AEG. Brand new product and look great on paper, quick change spring and high torque motor, but that was on paper sadly. It has gone tits up also, same issue as with the Cyma (CYMA actually makes rock solid V3 gear box for their AKs), few semi quick shots , locked, ffixed using auto, left it for a for a days then went to test it before a game and then the gear box went whizz. I tried to take it apart but it's not a V2 (M4) or V3 (AK) style gearbox, finally gave up. Since I tried take it apart there is no warranty on it now. Well that was a few $$$ down the drain.

WE has a new gas powered SVD that is due out soon. That's going to cost a pretty penny along with the expensive gas mags. Great in warm weather, less so in bad. Also consistancy with gas can be a issue for meeting FPS limits since gas guns can vary a lot between shots when chrono'd. But I still want it...smile.gif

Bottom line, if you want to play the role of an airsoft sniper get a spring power sniper rifle.

Thanks for reading my rant.....smile.gif

BTW hurt my back AGAIN...mad.gif

I just saw some GBB SVD's go up on a site I use. Just over $200 USD too. Crazy!

Most recent airsoft stuff I got was an SMG kit for a KWA glock18c. It's pretty cool but I need to have the firing selector modified or something cuz now it's pushing it's way between semi and full auto when I shoot and at that point it stops firing altogether. Ergh. Anyway, I should take some pics of that.

Where, I would be interested to see which ones. Regardless , but unfortunately I will have to wait for them to be in Canada since they will be seized by border customs if I try to order from outside Canada. Weird, I can get airsoft guns at a retail outlet in Canada but I can not import airsoft guns.

Another vid on the WE SVD...oops its a WE Ace VD...rolleyes.gif 10 round mag just like the real SVD.. Going to cost a lot for mags, norm load would be 5, one with gun and four additional for a standard load out for a Russian DM rifleman.

Thanks for link, interesting. But, again it have to be available in Canada for me unfortunately frown.gif. I know there is a WE Tech distributor in Toronto so I will wait for the WE Tech gum, not sure about AIM product quality. With WE Tech guns I know that any weak parts on WE products can be fixed when RA Tech comes out with steel parts for them.

ADD: also with our gun laws, any gun (toy or not) shooting over 500fps is treated as a fire arm and would require a gun acquisition licence ... which is a real hassle unless you are planning to get a a real gun.

Most public fields here has a limit of mostly 450fps with some to 500 fps max for sniper rifles, spring and semi only. Full auto max 400fps and CQB 350fps.. I played at a private farm a while back where there was no limits, we had a guy with sniper gun shooting almost 600fps and everybody voted to disallow it's use in game even tho he lowered his FPS with super heavy BBs since even at 450 fps with .20g BBs it already hurts and at 500 it's just painfull and at 600 prob can really hurt somebody.

The fps limits are pretty much identical here. At least, in California anyway. Fields local to me even have limits on who can be a sniper or not. They are required to take a designated marksman course in order to field any DM/sniper rifle. Most CQB houses limit to 350 or lower but outside the limit is usually 400.
