It seems users have reported different experiences.
In my case I got a delay at the start of *every* track, so just leaving a cd to play I would lose the start of track 1, and track 2, and track 3, etc. Likewise switching tracks from a music streamer, from album to album, would lose the first half second. I also found this happened with DVD's, so selecting an option on a menu would mean the picture would start to change but the music/audio would start late, often when the animation of the transition had all but finished. This I found really annoying after a while.
In all cases I also wired the sources via analogue and they played perfectly without the loss, so it was definitely down to how the 12 was locking on, deciding what it was receiving, and then starting to play it, by which time it had missed the beginning of the stream.
Unfortunately switching to 'direct' made no difference to me, though others have reported that the delay was resolved for them.
