Since loading 1.1.7.2 last Friday the Ceton has not rebooted on it's own, uptime 6+ days. I shut everything down last night to upgrade the memory in the HTPC so I've reset the timer, but at this point I would recommend loading 1.1.7.2 and see how it works for you. You can always revert back to 1.1.2.4 if it causes other issues and frankly 1.1.2.4 was not very stable on my USB unit.

I did a trouble ticket with ceton for my USB and they recommended a beta fw upgrade, which btw does not have a 1.1.7.2 in the number series. Am holding off installing until next wek as I have some critical recordings to make.

Update on my situation. Ceton got back to me and didn't even try to troubleshoot just started an RMA. I declined as I already had one in process with amazon, which I hope will be faster. So hopefully if everything goes as smooth as usual with amazon I will get to try again next saturday.

What / who is the idiot at the cable co . that gave you an "S" card ? . You must have an "M" card . Go back and get the correct one . They know exactly what u need .... sounds like game playing to me Your most likely going to need a tuning adapter as well . Those are free at the your cable co.

Ceton has very good instructions for proper installation of there product . You will need to also follow your cable co. instructions for installing the cable card / tuning adapter. Time Warner (who I use) has a real good web page of instructions for both .

One step that is real easy to over look is running the "digital cable adviser " during the install process . Miss this step and you ain't going no where !

The whole process would have taken me about 2 hours tops if I had not missed the digital cable adviser step . That's even considering the time on the phone with cable co. to pair the card !

Another words ... it isn't hard

I got tunning adapter Cisco STA1520 and MCard from my local TimWarner. Installed and udated firmware. InfiniTV USB driver Version: 1.0.4.1, Tunning Adapter driver Verision: 1.2.0.0, InfiniTV firmware Version:1.1.2.4, InfiniTV Hardware Version: 4481. Under CableCARD Setup tab step 4 gives me error: CableCARD is not receiving messages yet. Please check signal connection, or replace CableCARD. Please help. Thanks.

Hi,
I have the ATI Wonder and it worked ok for the most part. 90% of the time. I picked up the Ceton USB and my Win 7 Pro pc is bogged down and I get stutter on the TV(Xbox extender) and PC. If I just watch it on the PC (WMC) I have 95% no issues.
I have had no tuner found , Reboot fixed that
I had the conflict message: Reboot fixed that.
My biggest complaint is the Pixelation and stutter/Lag what ever you want to call it. Much worse than the ATI ..Any tips ?
I may just bring it back to the store if no resolution happens
Thx
Lee

PS
Signals are all fine and I have FIOS
The ATI Wonder used an S card (I believe), all the modern cablecard readers use an M card. S is single stream and M is multi stream. You need to take the card back to your provider and get an M card from them.

I do have the M card if u are referring to me

I had the same issues with my usb tuner and I have fios. The latest beta firmware seems to have fixed all of those issues. What firmware are you running?

Hi,
I was sent a link Friday. It seems better but I am not sure if it was from a ram upgrade, defrag or what. I ll take a look tomorrow'.

I see it now..... only suggestion would be to have more specific instructions in your support FAQ.
thanks for letting me know!

Have u ran through the entire Ceton set up process or are you just plugging in the usb tuner , TA adapter , installing the cable card and then expecting not to see some sort of error ? http://www.cetoncorp.com/documents/I...edure_v1_4.pdf

Complete the entire install process for now and then see if the error persist . You need to have a good cable signal coming into your home or you will have issues tuning channels .

Once your completely finished with the install ,including the WMCE parts as well you will need to call your cable co to have the card paired . Then complete the rest of the process in WMCE and DONE . Then if you have issues you can do a ticket with Ceton . My TWC rep made sure I was getting a signal before we got off the phone.

Do you have a MoCA filter installed? On some FiOS installations, it is necessary. Also, have you opened a support ticket with us?

what exactly would a "MoCA filter" look like or how or where would I look to find one.
Edit: I found out what it does. Now, why would one setup need it versus another?

LOL, I guess I need to sound less like Ceton tech support? Just a fellow consumer. I agree the FAQ could be more clear.

getting a odd message during this Starz/HBO free weekend in WMC that says something like you are not activated for theses channels? I am having some issues with my setup but also recently (unsure if the problems are related) have stopped being able to get Starz/HBO/Cinemax now. The message is the same when trying to tune record from each of the channels in the respective lineups. I am able to receive these channels on my standard fios set top boxes. Odd.

A number of factors can come into play, including whether MoCA is on or off on the ONT, signal strength, etc.

I'd bet your CableCARD isn't paired, and they have the channel set to Copy Once

If you have FiOS TV and Internet, the Internet needs a signal that messes with the Ceton Tuner. If you put the Low Pass Filter directly on the output of the box inside your house where the fiber comes in, it will kill your Internet. I put mine on the outside of the splitter where the one line goes to the Internet router and the other goes to the Ceton Tuner. Took care of my problems.

how can I or what would I request Verizon to do?

According to their diagnostic everything is fine on that end and if it wasn't correct I would get no premiums. I am getting all other premium feeds other than the ones in the free preview, odd..

Thanks for the great info flocko. The problem was tunning card was not activated somehow according to the WTC tech came over my house. Now another questions. There are some channels not subscribed. Right now, I'm paying around $120/month including internet. If I call cancel my TV service. Would I still get channels on my Ceton 4 ? Thanks.

The Ceton tuner is a cablecard device so you need a video subscription to have your cablecard activated. An activated cable card is needed for the tuner to view any channels.

There is a chance the Ceton tuner may pull in Clear QAM with no cablecard on some systems, but most cable companies put a filter on Internet only subscriber lines to prevent any video from getting through.

Did you think a Ceton tuner was a way to steal Video services?

Does anyone on here use the ceton with the fairly new xbmc/vlc/psuedo tv setup? How is it?

Open a support ticket with us and we can investigate. Also remember that CableCARDs are one-way, so your MSO can't really check anything remotely

I already have an open ticket one of your great resources has been working hard all weekend. I can PM you the number or open a other one if you need.

As a note and for those questioning if they should jump on the Ceton wagon just do it. I am having some network tuner issues ( unable to create network tuner after adding a second card) and the support team has been top notch. My case was worked ASAP and there have been frequent updates all weekend long. The service level is A+++. The service is oppo like. I may give a 3rd card ago and be rid of all but 1 DVR used in the home.

Eric,

All I need you guys to do now is offer a standalone dvr and I'm in..

I have FiOS (VHO8 Philadelphia) and I subscribe to HBO and Cinemax. I can view HBO/Cinemax as well as Starz on the PC and the STBs.

Since I installed the Ceton card about a month ago everything was flagged copy freely. A few days ago I updated the PCIe card firmware to 1.1.7.2 beta. The firmware update fixed my rebooting and tuner not available problems, but I then noticed everything on the premium channels were being flagged copy once. I didn't know if the firmware update triggered something or if FiOS finally caught up with the change in my subscription plan. Now you have me wondering if it might be the free weekend causing it? The Starz programs during this free weekend are also flagged copy once.

I'm sure Ceton 4 USB is not a way to steal video services. So what does Ceton do exactly ?

Are you being serious? You bought a card that you don't know what it is used for?

It is for making the best custom HD DVR. If you hate the cable companies GUI and small HDDs, don't want to pay TIVO fees, and don't mind figuring stuff out, then a custom build HTPC DVR might be right for you.

I am using that and it works quite well. If you don't have active return, your upstream will be degraded which can affect cable modems and SDV (tuning adapters).

I just added this Signal Booster a few minutes ago at POE. I'm still running 1.1.5.2, haven't upgraded (have a few pages in here to catch up on - haven't had much time).

I took measurements over three days 2 or 3 times per day - here are the two today, taken before and after, noticeable improvement. Early measurements were typical of prior days.
Tuner Chan f Sig SNR
1 746 105 -8.3 34.1
1 702 657 -10.9 35.1
2 803 705 -8.8 36.2
3 737 495 -8.1 35.2
4 738 459 -9.1 35.1

Amp Added at POE
1 725 495 4.6 37.1
2 702 657 1.5 36.6
3 800 753 3.5 35.4
4 357 681 4.5 37.1

Noticeable improvement in signal strength and a bump in SNR. Hopefully it will clear up some of the 'pixelation' problems I've been having. Tuner still crashes, haven't really gotten hurt though - lost House but it replayed on USA and picked up... good for WAF. I don't know the best way to troubleshoot the crashing - Windows Event View->CetonCorp is completely empty. The media center, if recording, will show an error. Haven't run the full blown Ceton Diag Tool, probably upgrade to latest firmware.

Thanks for all the help.
