I have had numerous issues with Comcast support and I also reside in a Cisco/SA area. I think there are very few staff who are familiar with this equipment. My particular area was an old Time Warner area. I believe that most Comcast subscribers are motorola equipment.

I have usually had good luck with Tier2 support. I don't think there are many Tier2 reps who are familiar with Cisco/SA either. I have actually gotten the same person twice. They sat next to the other person I had talked to in Tier2. I remember Brian being one of their names.

He called me back a bit later and asked how long I would be awake (it was already 9pm) and said if he heard back from local branch or something he would call me back. Nothing. I called back after work yesterday and got a guy who actually knew what the infinitv was and was even aware of the Q and echo and said he knew someone who knew cablecards and he would contact them and get it running in an hour. He calls back 10 minutes later asking for the data id. I explained to him that its a SA card and motorola cards have data ids. He said ok give us an hour and it should be working.. Nothing changed.

That brings me to this morning. I call up and explain the situation he keeps me on the line for 10 minutes and I hear him whispering as he's reading notes, then says he needs to transfer me to the "cablecard department". He transfers me and a woman answers and I start all over again and then she says SHE needs to transfer me to the cablecard department, then transfers me again and I get hung up on. I call back this time to ask for a supervisor, and what do I get? "Thank you for calling T-Mobile, home of the triple play! oops I'm sorry, excuse me, thank you for calling Comcast etc." I explain I need a supervisor now as I'm ticked off. She says sure hold on, comes back and says her supervisor is busy right now but she will transfer me to the supervisor department. I'm on hold for 10 more minutes and the music stops and no one says anything so I said hello and she says "your support ticket please" I said I don't have a support ticket number.. Guess what? She hangs up..

I call back AGAIN and get a supervisor and explained the entire situation and got a credit for 5 days. She informed me she is not even aware of any specific department for cablecards in the first place. She said they would need to do a truck roll. I asked if I can simply just turn in this cablecard and get a new one instead because it's already been 4 days that the channels aren't working and I do not want to wait for a truck roll on my day off. She says yes. I go there and swap out the card and call the activation line and give all the card info, and he says the card has been entered as a cablebox into the system and he has to contact tier 2 support.. AGAIN.. right back where I started.. She didn't seem to know whats going on either and said she would call me back when she figures out whats going on instead of me waiting on hold.. This is quite possibly the WORST service I have ever received. I bet I'm going to end up having a tech have to come out which to me makes ZERO sense because he will just end up making a phone call to the correct people who can actually fix the problem on Comcast's end. Sorry for the long rant but this is just sad. I guess I'll see what happens when (if) she calls back this time.

Next time you ever have to call support again ask for first and last names, and document it all. Then file a complaint with the company with all the information.. maybe even a FCC complaint, since they clearly aren't supporting cablecards correctly. And maybe even the Better Business Bureau too. That's better compensation then 5 free days of crappy cable service

Well she called back and said she was able to get the card added to my account and try the channels. I first checked the Ceton InfiniTV diagnostic tool and no CP auth still and no premium channels. She sent the signal again and same thing. Now shes contacting the local branch to check something and will call me back again. Hopefully she can get it working if not it's probably a truck roll. Sorry to clutter the thread, this is more Comcast related then it is directly with the Ceton card.

I've been in contact with both SD and Hauppauge, and both are aware of it. I'm hopeful both will provide that justification (as more justification == greater chance of a fix)

Do you experience the issue when watching the OTA station (with an actual antenna) and not the cable TV version?

I feel your pain. Getting both of my cards going through Comcast was a complete fiasco. Each one was uniquely different, yet both were as painful as a root canal.

I'd give it another day, then go the comcast cares route.

I have not..I'll try a few informal experiments tonight with a couple different tuners...

Okay guys, this one has me perplexed! Here's my setup:

PC with I7 quad core, 8 gigs of RAM, 2 GB high end Nvidia video card, InfiniTV PCI running Windows 7 Pro on a dedicated cable line with signal level tested within specs by cable company just days ago. Aside from the sporadic pixelation, I have a much bigger issue with LARGE macroblocks appearing during any slight picture movement. I've tried different video drivers and even other video cards with the same results. Now here's where it gets weird - the same recorded or live content played back on my Xbox 360 media extender looks perfect!

How do you explain that?

Most likely your video card - I would start by upgrading your video drivers

slayer6669,

I feel your pain, I'm going thru the same exact issue. My issue is I was not getting starz and some other channels any more. it would just freeze and give me the need subscription message. I called and went thru the same bs with many different reps/techs and they couldnt get it to work. finally decided that they'll have a tech come out to swap the card. What gets me is every other channel is fine. One rep mentioned that they had did something that messed with the cards, not sure what that was about.

I'll keep u posted.

I don't think it's a video driver issue because I've tried several different drivers with the same result. I'm running the most current drivers available from Nvidia. I've also experienced the same issue with 3 different video cards...

Sounds like we are in the same situation. Everything works but HBO/Showtime/Starz/Cinemax.. Do you have a green check in the CP Auth box in the Cablecard tab of the Ceton Diagnostic because I do not. If I get anywhere I will let you know as well.
Nope, states it hasn't received CP auth.

I had this problem and it ended up being a bad cable card. When I got the new one everything went green after I had a tech do a fresh auth with the new card.

Anyone know why this strip would disappear?

I see you are having other issues now besides this one, but if you ever get back to this point, just keep going in the setup. Mine says I am not cable ready also, but I just keep hitting "next" and it will go ahead with setup.

Installed the card from scratch last night. WMC still couldn't see the tuners. Reset the network settings in Ceton's diagnostic program and finally got WMC to see the card again. Everything was working well when I went to bed.

This morning, I started having problems seeing the tuners again. Now I'm trying to figure out if the problem is the card or a networking problem with Windows 7.
I think something with the ceton drivers keep disabling my network connection. Something about the network bridge. Anyone having this problem?

If I pick-up a USB model will I be asking for trouble?

I have a PCIe model that has been generally reliable although it has had pixelation/macroblock issues recently, but not since I established a ticket. Go figure.

The reason I ask is that I intend to return a WinTV-DCR-2650 that has communication issues. Although I finally got it to work last fall, I want to move it to a different PC. For whatever reasons, that device just can't get set-up properly on the second PC (2.5 GHz quad-core 8GB RAM) althought it works on the first (1.6 GHz daul-core 4GB RAM). That set-up was difficult but I chaulked it up to teething issues with a new device.

Maybe someone could provide some insight InfiniTV USB or why a USB OCUR tuner works fine in one PC yet cannot tune in any channels or see the TA on another PC. It's not a signal issue. The swap involved just unplugging the USBs from one PC and inserting them into the other PC.

I'm having an issue that ceton hasn't been able to help me with as of yet so I was wondering if anyone here may have a solution. TheHD on my ceton htpc recently crashed and I replaced with an SSD. I previously had 2 infinitvs setup for network tuner sharing. After reinstalling windows and the ceton drivers, only one of the cards was visible to the ceton diagnostic utility and wmc, although both were working according to device manager and the network connections panel. I tried resetting the network setting both in the diagnostic utility and the newtork tuner sharing wizard with no success. I checked the ip address of the non-functioning card and it was set to 169.somthing as opposed to 192.168.200.something. I tried manually bridging the card and suddenly I was able to recognize the card. At this point I tried resetting the factory settings, but again I lost connectivity to the card. The ip reverted to the 169.something. I manually bridged the connection again and the card reappeared. I went through the tuner sharing wizard and noticed that the 4 tuners from this card appeared to be claimed by the old pc. I tried unchecking the boxes to free the tuners and then ran through the setup agian but the tuners are still claimed. As per ceton's advice, I tried going to the cards webpage and then manually changing back to DHCP server mode and setting the IP range but that also failed. At this point I keep sending diagnostics to ceton with no success. Any ideas?

Would reflashing the firmware set everything back to the defaults, or even upgrading to the latest release if you haven't already
post #2782 of 4509
did you try turning your firewall off?

Yep.

I'm trying my best to avoid creating a ticket with Ceton but at this point it looks inevitable.

Configuration: W7 Ult, i5, 4 GB RAM, Radeon HD 5770 with latest drivers (as of 5 days ago), 2 GB HD, Ceton USB

This isn't easily reproducible, but it's happened 2 days in a row now.

TV is off. Recordings overnight were successful. Live TV isn't going (meaning there is no activity on the Ceton USB).

Wife turns on TV, selects live TV in WMC, a channel starts showing for just a second then goes black. Changing channels gives no error message - just black.

I exit WMC and restart. Everything is fine now. I don't see any errors in the event logs (Windows Logs, Ceton, Windows Media Center).

Any thoughts?

Haven't tried that yet. It's worth a shot. I'll try it when I have a chance tomorrow. Thanks

I've been successful eliminating the flashing on HD channels by doing a clean install of the nvidia 285.62 drivers on the Ceton USB with a GT220 video card.

You might want to check your nvidia drivers, I believe 285.62 broke live tv playback in media center, I believe the driver was even pulled from nvidia's site and replaced with 285.7X.

Sorry if folks have seen this in other forums, just trying to find some one with the same setup.

I have my ceton infinitv installed in the first PCI slot of my N40L (HP Microserver) running WHS 2011, the tuner card has a static IP, the server is also on a static IP, and I'm sharing the turners with two PC's on my network, works, no problem as long as the server is on, If the server hibernates, on resume, the ceton card will not have an IP (remember it's static), you can not access the device's web page, it no longer appears as a network device, but its still listed under device manager and shows as functioning correctly. A simple reboot cures the problem, and it's back on the network.

I'm looking for confirmation at this point if their microserver will hibernate and resume using lights out, with their ceton card functional, maybe it's not possible based on the hardware, if that's the case, I'll just leave the sever on.

Anyone try a high pass filter to see if the pixellation goes away?
Mine occurs on high frequency HD channels and I have seen this suggested in a few threads on other forums.

http://www.amazon.com/MHZ-54MHZ-High.../dp/B0070DZW0S

Could it possibly be caused from the modem and ceton both using those high frequency areas?
