Slightly off topic, but has anyone heard anything about WMC guide data updates? Mine currently stops at 4/29 and I saw some reports that this appears to be a pretty widespread problem but no updates on when it might get fixed.

Same here. I also noticed last week that the guide data was less than usual (less than a week).

Can you guys please force checks, wait 30 minutes, and see if it's changed? I have (and have had, for the last week) guide data through 5/1. MS tells me that this is fixed, but none of my machines are pulling new data.

Thanks,
Eric

I forced a check around 1:30PM Eastern time today and again a little while ago and am still stuck with no data beyond ~7:30PM on 4/30, which is probably what I already had. There are no recordings scheduled past 4/29 and certainly should be for prime time on Monday 4/30.

You guys are lucky, I only have up to 04/29

If you have over a month of guide data I'd consider yourself lucky.

I just performed the manual update, Eric. I'll check back in the next 45 min or so.

Obviously a typo - I've corrected my post.

My guide data stops at 4/30 and manual updates do not seem to work either. I tried yesterday a few times actually while I was troubleshooting cablecard issues with Comcast.

Updated twice, failed twice.

No new data for me after manual force. 4/30 is the end for me.

OK now MS says this will be resolved in tonight's update. I guess we see tomorrow.

Let's hope so (fingers crossed). Thanks for poking your contacts at Microsoft to help get this resolved and for keeping us updated.

Off topic, but is the cablecard paired to the InfiniTV 4 USB device or the computer it is attached to? Would I need to re-pair the cablecard if I swap the InfiniTV 4 USB device to a different computer?
My CableCARD was updated to v1.5.2_F.p.3101 (SA/Cisco).

Do they have any updates on the missing guide covers as well? It''ll be nice when that gets fixed.

The pairing is between the card and InfiniTV, not the PC

I've been running this for around 2 months at home

CFC

My MS contact went looking for an update on that earlier today - no word back yet.

Uh - can you describe at a high level what this is doing? The posts get pretty nested trying to follow.

I do have TightVNC installed already. I'm not clear what the steps are trying to accomplish.

Thanks

Eric,
What advantages do the newer SA/Cisco CableCARD firmwares have?

Cox is still running really old firmware, any reason to press Cox for a firmware update?
OS Ver: PKEY1.5.2_F.p.1601

The first post is saving the monitor settings to a monitor file instead of using default so that it is persistent when the monitor is off and doesn't rely on power-up handshaking for capabilities.

The second involving VNC is setting the default 'headless' resolution to match the HDMI resolution so there is no change when the TV connects (seems to confuse WMC)

I had a problem with my network connection, it would be fine and the next day I would have no network connectivity. I would have to reboot the pc to get it back. I would have this problem almost every morning, my system is always on, no sleep. I would see this problem when my xbox could not find my wmc.

I found that for some reason my network bridge would not have a ip address when this occurred. I reconfigured the bridge with a fixed ip address and this seems to have fixed the problem.

I forced an update a little while ago and it still says my guide data goes up to 5/1 (and in looking at the actual guide, many channels still have nothing past ~7:30PM on 5/29). I'll try it a few more times throughout the day and report back if anything changes.

"Error occurred during last update...."
My data is through 5/1.

I have been experiencing these errors for awhile, perhaps 4-6 weeks. I attempt to force updates. Sometimes it updates and sometimes not.

Please keep after them, Eric. This is messed up!

Forced an update 8am CST today and I am still stuck at 4/30.

What hardware are you guys running with this thing?

I am planning a build and am thinking core-i3 ivy bridge?

Going to run an SSD for OS and a 500GB harddrive for what little recording we do.

How much RAM?
Same here, nothing past 4/30 even though MS promised (through their own site, TheGreenButton) that they fixed the issue. The claim it was only happening to the digital channels which also had an analog channel...it is happening to all my channels.

Success! Comcast just called me back (I missed them yesterday because I was at work) and the tech verified my Host ID/CC ID/Serial for the 500th time, and he said he sees what the issue is on his end and he will call right back. Minutes later I got a call and he said try it and I FINALLY had the green check in CP Auth. I asked if he could specifically tell me what was wrong for future reference because I went through hell trying to get this fixed and he simply said the cablecard ID was entered wrong on their end.. Seriously? I gave this number literally like 10+ times and had it verified back. I'm assuming the earlier billing issue with the card being entered as a box was a problem also which was fixed by someone else. Oh well, I'm just glad it's working again.
