FYI - You can check the TA fw version on the Ceton's webpage.

I have a single fan blowing directly along the card lengthwise from the rear. It keeps my temps well within acceptable levels, and I haven't noticed any appreciable difference in noise levels.

Can I ask how you mounted it? Is there some kind of bracket?

Eric - can you poke your contact at Microsoft again? Perhaps he should set up a recurring (daily) event in his calendar to make sure the guide feed isn't broken.

Guide data for austin is broken also. If erik could yank microsofts chain about the guide data it would be appreciated, there are several cable series starting this month!

It's literally just hanging inside my case. I very carefully positioned it so it wasn't making contact with anything else. I'll post a picture for you tomorrow.

My guide data stopped at 8:00 PM on May 11th as well. I tried updating it earlier today and couldn't get any farther than that. I just now ran the guide data update again and it now goes up to 12:30 AM on May 18th.

Same here. I had run the guide update a few times earlier today with no updates. I ran the update a few minutes ago and am now up to May 18th too.

I tie wrapped mine to a cable and the edge of the card, so that it is lying across the top of the card and cannot move. It cools both my ceton and my vid card.

Here is a pic of it before I used tie wraps, I was testing how well it would work:

Since you are in Austin too - have you had any SDV problems in the last five days? I have had to reboot the Cisco TA twice, after running TiVO/WMC for many months without TA issues.

Thanks,

This may not be specific to this Ceton card:

If I build a new computer and put the Ceton card in it, will I still be able to watch the previously recorded, copy once shows on the old computer (which would not have any CableCard device in it)?

Yes, the recordings are tied to the PC, not the CableCard.

About once a week I have to reset the tuning adapter. It has been much better since the tuning adapter firmware upgrade last fall. Before the firmware upgrade there were days where it had to be reset several times per day!

I'm having an issue where TNTHD Channel 551 on Verizon Fios in Ontario CA has disappeared on me. I am using the PCI-e ceton tuner. Any ideas on how to make it re-appear? I already cleared the tuners using the ceton app and re-setup live tv using media center to no avail. Any other ideas would be appreciated.

Does the channel show up on Zap2it?

putting it in that spot is asking it to Overheat.

A. your 1 slot above a GPU, which is common for them to idle and load warmer than CPUs now.

B. Your right below the VRM Copper Heatsink block.

C. The CPU Fan is a Stock intel fan which cools the CPU Heatsink will re-distributing the hot air through out the case, including down onto your ceton card. after going though the VRM Copperblock and picking up more heat.

i can point out at least 10 air flow no no's in that case pic.

While recording 4 HD channels at the same time for 15 minutes, the hottest tuner Ceton reports is Tuner 2 at 37.9 C. Seeing as the temperature of the inside of your mouth is 37 C, I do not think I have anything to worry about...especially considering the amazingly silent operation of the Noctua.

Yet you did not. Please, though, enlighten us all.

Interestingly, it doesn't. But my brother lives a couple of houses down in the same condo complex, and he has FIOS as well but with a FIOS box and he does get TNTHD. Is this a MS Guide problem then? I thought the Ceton Card got the channel map from FIOS but populated the guide data from MS provider?

To be clear, the channel is missing in the guide and I can't tune it manually or add it from set up. It DOES show up in my brother's FIOS DVR.

Thanks in advance.

Go to the guide edit in the setup area of WMC and see if the number exists but is missing the checkbox next to it. No check means it is unusuable. If it is not checked, just check it.

You can use the same location to remove all the channels you do not get and the ones you do not want. I do not speak Spanish well enough to watch any Spanish speaking channel, so I unchecked them all, for example. I also unchecked all the SD versions of the HD channels. This can clean up your channel listing a LOT.

Yes, but I worry whether you can FIT your InfiniTV inside your mouth? Open wide...

Ya, check what cybrstage suggested. If that doesn't pan out, you'll need to submit a guide update to zap2it. There are several channel maps in WMC - the one you see in the guide is completely artificial and comes from zap2it based on zipcode. If you don't see it in zap2it, you won't see it in your guide.

You can also check your cablecard map which is accessible in the ceton diagnostics page - is it listed there? You can also try tuning that channel in the Ceton diagnostics tool.

But based on what you're saying, it sounds like a messup on the zap2it guide. I had a similar thing happen where my guide started showing SYFY listing for the west coast vs. Central. I submitted a fix on their page and it was fixed within a day or so.

I just submitted a report to them for the lack of NESN + HD in the guide listings for Verizon FIOS. The link is: http://www.zap2it.com/services/site/...9403.htmlstory

That works. Too bad they don't make the Zalman FB123 bracket anymore.

Does anyone have tips on trying to figure out why channel switching or viewing is so slow? I usually have my WMC sleeping and last night, I brought it out of sleep to watch some live TV. It was searching for a tuner for at least 3+ minutes. Finally, I gave up and rebooted the machine. This time, it went to the channel after 8-10 seconds.

I'm not sharing the tuners with any other device in the house. Any tips for me to figure out where the problem lies (e.g, WMC or Ceton). Thanks.

It was a problem with zap2it because I could tune the channel from the ceton diagnostic app. I submitted the issue, hopefully they don't take to long to fix it, NBA playoffs are on TNT. Hahaha...

Nope. I tried it to see if it would be an excellent way to quickly clean the card (new homes make lots of dust). I bet SkateZilla can.

The last few days we've been getting the following error message in WMC:

"[name of show] could not be recorded because the tuner is not working or is not connected."

The pop-up box has a Cancel button, which you must click to get rid of the message.

The thing is, in every case, the show in question does get recorded fine. So what I'd like to know is --

1. What could be causing this?
2. What can I do to make the error messages stop showing up? It's annoying to have to keep clicking in these boxes.

We have a Ceton InfiniTV4 PCIe card running with 7MC, no complications such as TA's or networked tuners.

Thanks!

Yep. I get the same thing.
