If updating the drivers/firmware doesn't work you may also want to check that the time on your HTPC is properly sync'd. iirc, incorrect PC time can cause issues with PlayReady.

I'm doing an install of a new card delivered yesterday. Should I use beta drivers/firmware or the default ones dated 10-2011 on the Ceton site?

Only ever use beta drivers and firmware when directed to do so by Ceton staff. There are many different betas out there and using the wrong one can really cause you nightmares. The standard drivers and firmware work for the vast majority of people.

Don't ever flash random firmwares that you find online. Unless directed otherwise by Ceton staff, don't flash anything other than what the Ceton Diagnostic Utility offers. The Ceton Diagnostic Utility does have a feature to use beta firmware (A checkbox) - feel free to use it, but keep in mind that, while we believe it's stable (think of it as more of a release candidate by the time it gets there) there's a small chance you could run into trouble.

Im not really sure how I got everything to work but I did. I figured out its an issue with the audio and video codecs. If your codec are outputting at a different rate/setting/refresh than something down the line can handle, it messes up. I updated my codecs with Shark 007 using the AssassinHTPC set up and its not working.

Again, not sure what is going on..not familiar with all of this, but for those of you getting copying prohibited, video display or decoder messages from WMC, check your codecs and audio/video settings. Dont just think its playready or drm.

I'm referring to the 2 installers found as downloads right on Ceton's site. The current installer is nearly a year old, dated Oct 2011. A beta is offered right below that with a changelog indicating that network tuner sharing has been added (which is very important to me) but no other commentary or warnings or disclaimers. I've read your company's detailed install instructions carefully. No where does it mention anything about flashing firmware. So, what you mean as to which one is best to use?

ive searched and have not been able to find anything about this. i was just curious as to what the boot status means where it says booted (one) or booted (two). this is listed under the wmc infinitv diagnostics tab.

The beta just changes the way the Network Sharing option is done in the install process. I would start with the released version. Once installed, go to the Ceton diags tool and go to the Update tab to see if there is new released firmware.

Does your cable system use SDV?

Thank you. That's what I was trying to resolve. Sorry if I wasn't initially clear. Wasn't sure exactly how I was supposed to get to network sharing, never having done an install before.

SDV: Comcast, so fortunately, no.

No problem - I agree it is confusing with the Driver update vs. Firmware update plus the changelog.

I think you should be good to go with that setup since you don't have SDV.

Might be my imagination, but the latest beta hardware/firmware updates made channel changes quicker. On non-SDV comcast.

While playing with the Ceton diagnotic tool yesterday night I saw a notification that a new Firmware was avaialble, so I started the update process. Everything appeared to be fine - it downloaded, installed and asked for reboot. But once I back to the same diagnotistic page, I got the same message! Looks like somehow the Firmware is not updated, despite all messages and reboot request.

Is there a solution for this issue?

Not sure if this helps or not but if I remember right it requires a shutdown not just a reboot. You might want to apply it again and this time shutdown and then check if it took.

Depending on the type of update, a power-cycle (not a reboot) is required to take effect.

Tried a shutdown cycle before and after the firmware upgrade but it didn't work. The Ceton diagnostic tool still says that I have an available firmware upgrade, driver is up to date.

Still having moderate micro blocking issues after upgrading the FW and HW.

I went and reinstalled windows and the card hasn't fell out on me since. So at least that looks like it is doing better.

The card is still somewhat annoying me because of the blocking.

It's getting really frustrating.

I just installed my PCI infiniTV4 and had FIOS install a cablecard this past Sunday. Everything seems to work flawlessly, but when attempting to use the network tuner setup, media center freezes and the entire system does not respond. Does anyone know what the cause of this could be?
P.S. My drivers and firmware are up to date.

Try the Clear Tuner Configuration button in the InfiniTV diagnostic software, then restart your PC and try again. Also if you have drivers for any other tuners installed, remove them.

Everything has been working great and I love the Ceton tuner.

All my channels have been working fine. Then last week during "X-Factor" the channel was blue and said "Activation Required". I tried tuning back to the channel after a few minutes and it was working, but it was a commercial. When the show started back up again, it gave me the blue screen with the error message. The next day, the channel worked fine all day. It is now the next week, and again during "X-Factor" show, blue screen and says "Activation Required".

It gave me the Activation Required message on both the HD channel and the SD channel for FOX.

Ceton said to run the Digital Cable Advisor. I did and everything seemed to pass. The channel still said "Activation Required".

Verizon FIOS is cable provider.

Any thoughts?

Verizon has recently required the pairing of cable cards and most of their stuff is copy freely so it often works whether the card is paired properly or not. I've heard that if you don't have HBO you may never notice it. I'm not sure if the CCI override of the content providers CGMS in the signal requires a paired card or just the bits to be present in the signal. The only time I would get the activaion required messages was when I was using it without a cablecard as a clear qam tuner... TBS and one local subchannel put CGMS-A on nearly everything during prime time and I would get an activation required once I got my cable card the CCI bits of copy freely and/or copy once would override the GGMS-A in the program (this data is in the program, not on the channel for every program... I've also seen it when a commercial would have this content and windows would mark a recording as protected and I couldn't share with other pc's in the house) so I wouldn't get those annoying activation required messages. Another possibility is that your local verizon doesn't set CCI on the locals, since locals are usually clear qam many cable companies didn't provide those stations with CCI data and cablecard tuners with no CCI information must adhere to any other forms of copy protection... When I got my cablecard for cox phoenix, I thought I was very fortunate that CCI was present on all channels so I didn't have the trouble others were having with NFL and other programs.

Also, when running the DCA, it is a good idea to run it in a window instead of full screen as there is a UAC message that you must give approval to that is sometimes missed when full screen. Sometimes a reboot after running the dca is required.

You are on the older diagnostic utility. Upgrade to the beta one and I believe it will resolve the issue.

I'm guessing we won't see the 6 tuner card available for purchase until after the Q ships, if ever. Given that the 6 tuner card isn't exactly a secret and we all know that Erik has a few and that others exist, I wish we could get a straight answer on if it will ever be available for purchase. It would be really nice to be able to use all 6 streams on a CableCard.

I've got a few spares...I'll sell one for One Million Dollars (evil laugh)!

Any update on this? I have been getting the same error, even with the new 1.2.11 firmware and new 6409 hardware.
I have the USB version running 1.1.7.2 Firmware.
I have unplugged the Infinitv, and restarted the computer (complete shutdown) numerous times.
