not sure about color banding?

i just bought a samsung un55d7000 led 3d 240hz tv a week ago. at first i was absolutly in love with the thing, and i still love it...but ive started noticing the last couple of days that sometime when im watching it i can see vertical lines about 4 or 5 inches wide where the color is either darker or lighter than the color in the row next to it(i hope that makes sense) for instance i have golf on and when you saw the grass it almost looked like lines in the grass where different color sections but it was actually the tv. ive tried adjusting everything for hours on end and to no avail. is this people are calling color banding? the samsung rep said they hadnt had any issues with this and asked if it was just the comcast or if it did i on all the inputs..and it does. i put in shrek 3d and in 2d mode you could just make it out. it also seems to be more noticable along the top section of the tv but its def all the way down. i can take it tomorrow and exchange it for a different one but i wanted to know if this is a common thing that all of them will do or if it sounds like a bad tv.
