Thanks. I realized that my list above had a 5020 fan and I need a 5010 fan so I changed that out.

I am thinking about going with a 40GB SATAII SSD for this build. I just can't justify the almost double price to jump up to a SATAIII SSD for this particular build even though I REALLY want to.

Don't do it! Although I haven't yet used this case I am 99% sure that your temps will be way too high --- even with the 2100t --- using a passive heatsink that would have to be small enough to fit in this case.

I am jumping on this bandwagon as well. I just put together the following system:

Habey EMC-800S
Asrock H67M
Intel i3-2100T
Gelid Slim Silence i-Plus
Kingston HyperX 8Gb
Crucial 64Gb SSD
Sony BC-5600S Slim Slot BDROM

I really like the silver Habey case - solid, aluminum, lots of vent holes. The only thing I didn't like is the white plastic bezel for the BDROM drive - it made the case look like it had clown lips. So I removed it and just aligned the Sony so that its bezel sits flush with the case. Eventually I'll paint it silver to match the case.

The Gelid cooler is very low profile, about 8mm less than the stock cooler. Plenty of room below the BDROM and a lot more cooling fins.

haha yea I almost went with that mobo instead I went with this just so I wouldn't be tempted to spend extra on sata 3 SSD.

Couldn't be happier.

As far as that intake fan, I am not sure it's entirely necessary. My case stays perfectly cool with out it. Since it's so cheap, might as well, but it would be good to test it out for temp drop vs. added noise (if at all).

1. How does a 2.5" laptop drive function in this case? Mainly I am worried about the excess heat so may choose a SSD for that reason. I think the cost difference would be about $60.
2. What is the best way to physically mount the CIR receiver to/through the case? Anyone have any pics of an example?
I started with a standard hard disk but quickly moved to an SSD, mostly for performance. I never took temp readings with the hard disk but power readings were the same with either unit.

I drilled a small hole on the bottom left side, just below my optical drive, per my post/picture on 6/9. Inside I used a double-sided adhesive pad to stick the sensor to a rounded screw post inside the chassis, but also added some hot glue. I'm sure a more professional mounting solution could be made, but it's really fine for my use and isn't going anywhere.

I mounted an IR receiver in 2 builds using this method - one for my master bed HTPC, and another for my step son's bedroom HTPC.

Your pic looks great! I'd say the optical drive looks pretty good even in black.

Great build.

Is there anywhere in there to velcro a SSD ***and*** add a 3.5" drive? Maybe velcro the SSD under the bluray drive or on the bottom of the lid?

Thanks. There's definitely possibilities. I'm all for cramming as much as I can into a little box. I have a 2Tb drive that I was going to put into my server in the basement. I think I'll try fitting it in the Habey case along with the SSD. There may not be enough room under the lid, but probably some room over the psu or along the side where the case fan would go. I'll let you know.

Habey says that you can fit a 3.5 drive in the EMC-800 but there is no way unless maybe if you use low profile memory sticks and no cpu cooler. Or maybe if your motherboard has the memory slots along the side. On the Asrock board, the memory slots are directly below the drive tray. I attached the drive underneath the optical drive tray in the designated position, and it hits the memory sticks and my very low profile Gelid cpu cooler. Not even close to fitting along with the bluray drive.

It would fit without the bluray drive. And you can definitely put a SSD along the sides where the case fan would go. So with a low profile cpu cooler and regular memory sticks, it's a choice between the optical drive and the 3.5 drive.

Hello...

I have been following this thread and I am wanting to build something very much the same. Below is what I will be building:

Motherboard: ASRock H67M-ITX
Case: Habey EMC-800B
Processor: Intel i3-2100T
Hard Drive: Crucial Techonology 64gb
Blue-Ray Drive: Sony Optiarc BC-5500H
CPU Fan: Gelid Slim Silence i-Plus (optional)
Memory:G.SKILL F3-12800CL9D-4GBNQ

I have a question in regards to the memory. Will the G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series memory fit in this case with the blue-ray drive? Also any other suggestions on memory either 2x2 gig or 2x4 gig.

Thanks.
As soon as the Habey 600 comes back in stock I am ordering one for my bedroom build.

And yes, I have given into the power of the SSD and will be purchasing one of those buggers as well for the OS.

BTW I am not taking any chances on the RAM not fitting because of the heatsink. I am ordering this RAM for this particular build.

My eyeball says the Ripjaws might be a tight fit with that heatsink. I would stick with standard size RAM if possible. But I see now that it's the Shell shocker deal today, so maybe take a chance, or wait for another deal. The Kingston HyperX 2x4 that I got was on sale and fits fine.

coppertubing, do you mind telling me the model number of the Kingston HyperX 2x4 that you did get. Thanks.

If you are concerned about the RAM not fitting, then why wouldn't you pay $3 more and get these?

I'm still waiting on the black Habey EMC 600 case. The silver one is in stock and its tempting but I really want the black one.

Dang. Hate waiting.

You could give Habey a call - they were very easy to get ahold of, and told me exactly when NewEgg would get more stock when I was waiting for my 800.

Here is mine (600B). I wanted a really clean inside.

I got an Intel DH61AG motherboard. I'm using a spare HP Envy powerbrick (125w) and it is the correct cxn size. I accordingly took out the Habey PSU so there's plenty of room up front and no wire mess.

The CPU is an i5-2405s.

I put in an mSATA SSD (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820167040).

8GB of RAM (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231294)

I'm waiting for my CIR to come in and will screw that in a spare mount from the Habey PSU mounts. I think it will receive through the grill, but we shall see.

So far I'm using a stock Intel 2100T HSF, but think it needs better.

I'm kind of shocked how warm the case feels to the touch, esp given how much room there is, but the CPU is idle around 52.

On kilawatt it idles around 14-16, which makes me happy.

My only further want is to figure out another small fan maybe.

It runs WMC/MediaBrowser/TMT3 + a bridge to a ceton in another box for cable tv (until I get my HDR Prime).

btw you can get the CIR right from the people who make it here (http://shop.inteset.com/Products/5-i...-receiver.aspx) no need to chuck a remote.

Black Habey 600B is back in stock at newegg.

Just ordered...

Habey EMC 600B Mini-ITX case and psu
Intel G620T CPU (no need for 3D on this build)
Crucial 64GB SSD SATAIII ($99 shipped!)
2x2GB G.Skill RAM (naked with no heatsinks)
Mini-ITX board with HDMI

Wireless USB adapter mainly because I may want to travel with this thing.

Should be a pretty cool little bedroom build.

FYI I have CAT5 in the bedroom and this will be connected primarily to that for network access of my media from my main HTPC.

Hey Assassin,

When you get your build complete, let me know if you have problems with TMT 5 and stuttering issues. That is presuming you will be playing any full blu ray rips. I haven't gotten mine to play correctly yet on this build. I suspect it has something to do with DXVA, but hardware acceleration looks to be on so...
It's funny, after shipping at this website for the CIR, I save between $1-2 vs. this eBay listing:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...#ht_901wt_1402

Also the seller is in MA, like myself, which made for next day shipping when I ordered

I guess remote controls aren't worth much...

I don't use TMT5. I rip all my blurays to MKV and watch them in WMC using Mediabrowser as the interface. So far so good with this setup.

Although I have used the SB Pentium for other builds this is my first time using it personally. So I will report back on its capabilities/differences once I test it out.

Same here, I have the majority of my blu rays as mkvs, and it works fine with the G620t.

I recently started keeping full blu rays for movies I really enjoy, and unfortunately the G620t is giving my problems.

No biggie though since it's for the bedroom and I can live without full blu ray playback. But I just wanted to get to the bottom of it.

Thanks
