I had the nerve to complain that I gave away most of my left over XLR cables and threw the rest away, saying "It's OK Jim!" Because I didnt want him or anyone wondering why I wasn't using the EQ. He told me he was sening me some cables too, I received the FBD 1st, then the subs... I pulled the EQ out, no wires. So I thought it's all good, I'll just have to wait. So I posted. Then I get a message to pick up a package at the station. All 6 subs and the FBD came to the house. What's going on? As if it wasn't enough with the deal he gave me on the subs, the deal he gave me on shipping them, then adding a free BFD... THEN shipping it for me... the crazy guy sends me cables, another shipping charge, then offers to send me speakers.
I am a loud mouth on the forums but I am very shy in person. I am a roller coaster daily where I have bursts when I am out and about and let people come over, then someone can say something I take wrong and the vaulted windows come down and the air compressor kicks in when the house seals up. I couldn't afford to drive 1/2 way to meet Jim, but maybe building boxes and doing installs this summer might make more than I lose... maybe going to this comp and working with the people I install for will open me up a bit? Maybe there will be a comp out there sometime and I can meet this guy.
Anyway, I am trying to convey my grattitiude toward Jim for everything, and Scott for the mic and cables and all he has done, and everyone on the forums that even take the time to read my threads and look at the pics...watch the vids. Even better when you even take the time to post a critisizm... and most of all, people that take the time to keep trying to ge through this thick skull of mine.
You're reading this, so thank YOU! Really, thank you.
So without further adu, here is a BFD and some cables. 1st rew sweep I am simply going to hook it up and leave it flat... a before/after without it doing anything at all. Adding more connections in the signal chain, more paths to tavel through, another electronics roll off, hopefully its a waste of time and theres no difference. Then I want to EQ just 1 band all the way down, around 45Hz whatever it may be. After that, I will EQ 20Hz-60Hz-ish down to 1/2 but leave the one band all the way down. This way I hopefully add below 15Hz, have a slope from 15Hz down to 45Hz, then creep back up to 65Hz, then another peak around 80.... just talking generally for now, baseline.
