Budget: $500-$700
Requirements: HD, Ease of importing into Mac, Microphone jack, manual focus (focus on foreground, background blurry), purchasable at either Best Buy or other local stores.
Use: 90% of the year high quality family videos. A few times per year, used for short movies festivals with quality to play on movie screens (contests, etc)
First place I went to look was cnet.com. Their searching led me to the Canon Vixia HF M300/M400 line. Panasonic's comparable cameras (Panasonic HDC-SD60K?) also look appealing for their price range.
I'm looking to buy this fairly quick. While I've been looking thru this forum, I'm overwhelmed and just want someone to tell me what to get.
Well, it's not that bad, but am I guess I'm asking if I'm missing some obvious alternatives? Is it generally understood that Sony is better than Panasonic or vice versa?
Any direction you guys can give me (or direct comparison websites other than cnet that you would recommend so I can compare their results to cnet) would be helpful.
Thanks ahead of time. Love these forums, wish I had time to look thru each and every post.
