OK, I've been through this entire thread, in anticipation of my ST30 arriving and I notice, a recurring theme that the D-Nice settings are a little dim or dark. I would just like to share my experience with my 58VT25 which Mr. D calibrated for me, in my home. I will say first that the eyes lie (or does the brain?). My VT 25 was so perfect I was a little afraid to have "D" touch it. Without getting into all the steps he takes with his equipment, going back and forth through the settings, I'll just say it is about 3 hours (w/3D) of checking and double checking. I'll get to the point. When Mr. nice finished, I thought the new ISF settings were a little dim or dark, especially ISF Night. That evening, after awhile of viewing TV and BD sources, I started to see unbelievable detail and coloring. Over the next few days and nights my wife and I agreed that the calibration was great. I scrolled back through my custom settings and THX and although they were brighter and maybe more color, they did not come close to the ISF modes for that "natural pop" we look for. That given, I will use the D-Nice settings for the ST30. I have a good idea how he derived at them. I trust him. I am DYI this time and I don't expect the same results as a professional calibration and each panel is different. I think D-Nice's settings will be damn close. I will expect the picture to be a little dim or dark when I finish. Maybe not, since my brain has already been calibrated that "less is more", where PQ is concerned on these sets. I'll let you know how it turns out.
