Need Receiver for Jamo A340PDD.5

Hey guys, I just jumped on these speakers and decided to give them a try given the great reviews I have seen. The room this will go in measures 16' x 16' roughly. I need a good receiver to power these things nicely and also provide some upgrade room in the future. I have seen the Denon 1912, but it may be overkill. I also looked at a few Yamaha models but I do not know much about home theater audio. Send some suggestions my way! I want to keep the price less than $450. Thanks in advance!

You should be able to get the 1912 for under your budget from several of the authorized resellers including Electronics Expo, ABT, and 6Ave, but you must CALL them rather than just checking their websites.

Ill have to try that, I suppose try negotiating somehow. The 1912 retails for around $550... How about the http://www.amazon.com/Yamaha-RX-V667.../ref=pd_cp_e_0 ? I see there is a newer. How does the denon compare?

*Or a refurb version of this ? Onkyo HT-RC180 7.2-Channel A/V Surround Home Network Receiver ? It will be well below my price range.
* Also, Onkyo HT-RC260 7.2-Channel Home Theater Receiver

The Yamaha RX-V867 is right around your $450 price point. And it has networking plus pre amp outputs in case you ever need to add an external amplfier for more power, just in case you get more power hungry speakers later.

Thanks for the reply afrogt. That receiver looks pretty strong. What is the deal with the HDMI 1.4 or 3D audio that I see most receivers advertising now? Also, will I notice a difference between a lower priced $300-400 receiver with these speakers as compared to the Yamaha you suggested. I just want to get the most for the money.

1.4 HDMI means it'll pass a 3D signal. If you dont have a 3D TV and a video device that sends those signals it doesn't matter. But you did say you wanted to be future proof so I'd get a receiver that passes 3D signals.

No such thing as 3D audio, its 3D video you're worried about.

The refurb Onkyo 180 will do almost all the things that the RX-V867 will do. You're just getting a refurbed receiver with a 1 yr warranty vs a new receiver with 2 year warranty. the RC-180 won't pass 3D signals as it doesn't have ver 1.4a HDMI.

Tough decisions...simply because there are so many options. I would definitely like to have the HDMI 1.4 along with front ipod/usb access. I was hoping to get a good deal in the $375-450 range, but all the receivers we are looking at are at or above my budget. Thanks for answering my questions afrogt.
