Sorry, I don't know any more details about this. If I come across some specifics I'll post them.

Edit: Looks like the discussion about this starts on this page:

MMmmm.

Step one: No DNR

Result: Accurate grain, not blotchy residual grain, and increased fine detail.

You start with the highest-quality materials: the camera negatives. You scan them with a modern 4K scanner and color grade to match the original prints. You stop there, without adding obnoxious digital enhancements (Universal? that'll be the day..).
I don't know if you'll think it's better, but it'll certainly be more natural and accurate to the film as shot.

Start again, minimum 4k scan

There is hope for better: Universal recently re-released "Out Of Africa" and it is now closer to how it should have been released in the first place.

However, it is an anniversary edition and Universal added a few cheap gimmicks so they could gouge extra money from the customer at a price premium.

It's the world where excessive DNR = Restoration.

Not in France. I bought a few a while ago when I was in Paris and while they were said to be region free they were in fact blocked. Back to Montreal the menus wouldn't even show up. I haven't tried with the most recent releases though. That's too bad cause these were movies not released in North America yet.

I was talking from the UK perspective as it was a UK link

Dumb cover art, but here's hoping for new transfers! (or at least unfiltered transfers)

I'm sure it's answered somewhere in this mammoth thread but....

I experience audio clipping/cracking/crackling during any heavy bass moments from this title (e.g. when the first dinosaur eats the branch, then lands on it's feet - there is a big "crackling" sound during the bass hit when he lands).

I know it's not my system as it handles every other bombastic title with no such distortion, and I remember this being discussed here somewhere.

I have the Oppo BDP-83 blu-ray player (soon to be replaced with the PDP-93). Is this an Oppo issue with this blu ray?

Thanks.
If you are letting the 83 decode the sound you will have the issue (mediatek issues). Use bitstream and let your AV processor decode the audio.

I saw the resolution move alot mostly in the indoor scenes especially the backgrounds in the computer lab. all the close ups with the people were good quality. even the out door scenery was nice. but any indoor scenery where it was dark you can see the resolution move. not sure if everyone else had that issue or its my player.

No, you're not the only one...
The resolution or camera focus or whatever you want to call it is inconsistent on this release.

There's a trailer for the 3D re-release out and (unsurprsingly) it appears to have a different transfer:

anyone care to do some quick comparison shots?

First of all, the 3D trailer is mp4 and it's highly compressed. BUT the color timing is clearly different, much more natural for my eyes, also framing is different.

Three examples, one is not exactly accurate:

Similar to what we saw with the IMAX trailer for RAIDERS -- should look somewhat better on the eventual Blu-ray.
