4. The problems began when the remote stopped working. After unplugging the unit for a few days, the remote worked on and off for three weeks before finally stopping altogether. During that time, the unit began cycling audio modes, getting stuck on one input, losing settings, and the volume control dial would work sometimes but not others.

8. When I contacted Onkyo, the CSR didn't even let me finish describing the problems before he told me Onkyo was "very familiar" with this problem. He informed me that Onkyo would provide a pre-paid shipping label to a repair facility and that the unit would be repaired for free. I asked how long it would be before the receiver is returned from the repair shop and the CSR indicated it was taking about two weeks. I was emailed a pre-paid label four days later and sent my receiver into the Huntington Beach, CA repair shop. According to fed-ex tracking, they should receive it tomorrow.
This does suck and it was inconvenient to have to pack up my receiver, drive to fed ex, and haul a 50 pound box to the counter, but I am trying to stay positive and keep things in perspective. I want to give Onkyo the opportunity to fix the problem as they have offered to do. If the end result is that I am without my receiver for a couple of weeks, but it is returned in good condition and it works properly in the long run, I will be satisfied with their response.
