Digital projectors are designed to be completely disposable, and any reputable repair facility is going to need to cover an hour's worth of labor to look at something like an LCD projector. Unfortunately, it's usually 'yep, it's defective, and can't be repaired' which is what you pay $80 for.

There's a reason there's not a lot of digital projector repair depots that do out of warranty work, they'd go broke trying to stay in business, as the vast majority aren't economically feasible to repair.

Your best option is to look for a working unit with a dead bulb on eBay for cheap, in hopes that it will work for the remaining 1700 hours on your bulb.
