Here's my setup:
Marantz 1501 receiver.
3 x min20 (left, center, right)
I find that I need to have sound on the Marantz around 35-40 to be able to hear TV channels (optical out on Samsung LCD into the Marantz). Anything less then 20 cannot be heard. If i have a few people in the room talking then the sounds is pretty much drowned out.
I'm not sure how to track down the problem:
- combination of marantz 1501 and minx speakers is not a good one?
- is it with the setup options on the Marantz?
- is it the minx speakers?
- wrong speaker for the room size (lounge + kitchen combined)?
Happy to provide further details.. thanks for your help.
Gionnie did you use the audyssey mic? and did you place the mic on a tripod and move to the six different seating positions??, reason for asking is because i have brilliant sound quality from the minxs after using audyssey.
Oh i just noticed that you don't have the 1601 but the 1501... that doesn't use audyssey but marantz's own room calibration.
Try using the mic on a tripod unlike the denon it doesn't involve moving the mic to different seating positions, so put the tripod on your sofa with the mic placed on top and re-run the auto calabration.
On the back of the x300 leave phase set to "0" crossover frequency to max 200hz, and the volume to half way.
If you haven't used the mic yet and don't intend to then change the speaker setting to small and tell the amp that your using a subwoofer and set the crossover on the amp for the speakers to the highest it will go.
Forgive me if you have already did this just trying to cover a few bases let us know how you get on.
