Yes, they are a lovely addition.

Forge is time consuming. Now I know why MPH took all day. I am ok with the setup but there is more I want to do. I need some games on it to see what works and what doesnt. Right now I only have it setup for CTF. Plan on doing a dominion then oddball next.

Yeah, that was a lot of fun.

And I, shite at this game...

This game seems to be inline with every November release I buy... I hate it much of the time and love it some but keep playing it like a dummy.

any pros and cons for the light rifle, don't want to buy it if it isn't any good

I am going to get that gun as soon as I can, because some dude was owning my whole team with it the other day.

I'm kinda thinking this way too.
I dunno the conquest type game mode is horribly boring to me, the action is far and few. When there is action it's usually a guy active camo'd in a corner, in the middle of the map.
Slayer is about all i can handle right now and even the maps for slayer are very lack luster. Maybe oddball but if the teams are any good the game ends very quickly.
I have yet to get a kill after a shield is down with one BR to the head yet.. Except in team pro.
I think if you are any good with the the plasma gun is crazy powerful in slayer. A couple guys happi and I were playing against were tearing it up with that damn thing .
I think the first patch will be huge.

/rant.

Does anyone know a site that lists what all these ordinances do? I call something in but it has a weird icon I can't determine what it means, sometimes by the time I pick it up, I die to quick so I never get to try it out.

So I played some more yesterday after work and I'm enjoying it. But I much prefer to get in a vehicle and just run people over. smile.gif

Played my first game of Slayer last night. Went 3-13 and promptly turned off my Xbox before I destroyed it. Not sure why I thought I would like the MP in this game. I finished the campaign already so I might have to trade it in to Best Buy when I pick up Black Ops 2 next week. Looks like they are still doing the 100% extra credit on trade ins.

Like Charlie Brown kicking the football, I thought maybe this time would be different. I used to really like the MP in Halo but I have enjoyed it less and less with each game that comes out.

I can get $40 from a Best Buy trade in. With the $20 certificate for pre-ordering and the $23 I got on Ebay for the Armor/Helmet DLC codes I will have made money plus I got to play the campaign. biggrin.gif

Unlike some here I can understand why people may not like the game. If you play team slayer you play the same 3-4 maps over and over.

And the default button layout is no beno. Everytime I get into a fire fight I usually get to excited and mash the wrong buttons. And to use zoom you click the right thumbstick, ya ok. That caused me to zoom at the enemies crotch everytime I was in a duel. The last layout is the best. Left trigger to zoom.

Playing with friends on Big Team Slayer is about the only real fun I have with this. Everything else is just damn frustrating and if I'm honest, most of this game seems like a cheap Chinese knock off of Halo. I know a lot of Halo fans didn't like Reach but I loved it and while I had plenty of complaints about the MP the things I didn't like were made up for in map design, game mode variety, and more accurate hit boxes which see, totally eff'd up in this. I doubt I will be playing this much when Blops comes out which sucks because I really wanted to like this. The more I play it the more issues I see with balance.

I played a total of 9 games, and thank God for my team, consisting of a couple friends, and a couple randoms through the night, (have a win/loss ratio of 6 to 3)...cause I was NO help at all. I have 53 kills and 100-something deaths...NICE change after my 1.4 in Gears 3!
The problem I see, is all the HALO fanboi's have been playing non-stop for years and years. The learning curve for them is small...
While I've played every iteration, I've backed off when something new comes out that I like. I have a couple issues that I need to work through, namely, as mentioned earlier, sticking with groups to get that assist, or to finish a guy off...especially now that my bullets and nades seem to have no power compared to the ones that are hitting me. I was afraid that i would not be able to pick up my ordinance, (a' la' COD care packages...) but the pickup seems to be fine...I just need to be albe to stay alive long enough to use the damned thing...

Yeah Slayer is the most popular for good reason. I look forward to some more slayer games with you because you can put up some serious numbers.

I can imagine how that game type would be frustrating to those that have a hard time getting kills, but like everything in life, the only way to get better is to keep playing wink.gif

OK guys, I recognize most of your names from the BF3 thread. I am considering buying this game, mostly for the multiplayer aspects as I rarely complete SP FPS games.....I love multiplayer BF3, coming from that will I enjoy Halo 4. I never really played much of the previous Halos, maybe a little of Halo 3..... But i have never been a Halo fanboy. Is this worth my money? I buy about 2-3 games a year and have a 13 month old, so my gaming window throughout the week is small.

This is very true, I never thought I would ever put up some of the scores I have gotten on BF3, but after playing for a while you do get better. Now, will I ever be a 3 k/d player who is constantly wrecking the leaderboards, no. But I can get to a point where I can make a positive contribution and help the team and maybe top the leaderboard a few times in an evening.

I like the game, but I need more time with it. The first night I ended up rage quitting due to frustration, and the second night I ended up messing around on mph's map and just having a good time. I need to try more slayer, which is honestly what Halo has always been very good at to me. I tried the dominion mode, but the other team was ridiculous and we lost in under a minute. I just haven't really been able to play as much as I'd like. Hopefully I can get some good time in this weekend. The Packers aren't playing so my Sunday should be open.

I relaized last night that I need to make sure I complete the campaign by the end of the year to get my AMEX $25 credit. Plus they have the $50 when you purchase $100 at BestBuy. I'll need to make sure I get that too.

It is certainly enough incentive for me to make sure I spend the time to finish. Without this offer that probably would not have been the case since Black Ops 2 is coming out next week.

ahartig - I'm a Halo head, and I really like H4, but BF3 is easily the better game.

Of course there is a bit of a learning curve, like any game, so take that into consideration. I know when I started playing BF3 for the first time after playing mostly Halo before that - I sucked unbelievably bad. I couldn't manage a K/D over .6 for months. Took me a long while to get the hang of it, but now I'm a mvp machine.

i must be in the minority, i am not really a halo fan, but i feel like this game is by far the best of this generation (keep in mind i don't play SP at all). I sucked at this early on, but lately have been having some great games couple of things if people are really frustrated
1. On slayer, just use an assault rifle and follow at least one guy, you can pick up some easy kills that way.
2. on big team DMR is deadly, it has great range, just stay on the "sides" of the map and then keep your eyes downrange, easy to get some kills that way.
3. the damage boost perk is pretty effective (from ordinance), surprised more people don't use it...
4. be sure to aim for head if using BR or DMR

i think one thing that is frustrating people is everyone goes solo, if we get a good team of 4 or 8 like we do on BF, the game can be really fun.. If you get 4 people that stick together in slayer, you just roll people...

It's nice in a vehicle when you come across three or four people near each other since you can just run all of them over within a few seconds.

Does anyone get a scoreboard screen midgame? I had this happen a bunch and it has a message that says "starting game". It reminds me of playing cod and the game is migrating hosts. I don't know if its because of my connection or what? Sometimes when the game loads back up I'll be in the same spot and it looks like nothing moved and at other times I'll be dead.

I had that happen a few times last night. That was the first time I saw it. The previous two days were fine when I was playing.

Typically happens when the host player quits.

I would say no. I played previous halos and still find this game to have a helluva learning curve. To me, halo is one of those games that require good team coordination and a good time investment to get good and really enjoy it.

I wonder how much of the "I've played this already" feeling is affecting how people are liking this game.

To me, I could not tell you the difference online between this, H3 or Reach. They all feel about the same to me.

I'm finding this with more and more games that I see and have little desire to try out new ones. I picked this up to play SP and try to like MP, but it doesn't feel like a progression in the series so much as it does just a reskinned H3.

Agreed. While you get tokens to unlock things like jet packs, they already existed in reach and could be selected any time instead of only after you purchased it. Same with the shiefd, halo had it as a bubble, now it is a shielf, but agian, before you could always have it on a loadout, now you purchase it. Seems like all they did is take every thing, including the same weapons (assault, DRM, carbine) and just make you purchase them with tokens instead of always having them available.
