Problem with that is the only real place to watch due to room layout is putting the screen up in front of where the tv is. As much as I would like to ceiling mount the pj and screen I can't get away with that at the moment

well thats what I was planning, roll the screen down in front of the tv to watch. as mine would go in front of my tv as well.

I am considering buying the GT750 just for 3-D movies. I already
have an Epson 8700UB for my 2-D viewing. Has anyone else done
this for the same reason? And if so, how pleased are you with this two projector set-up?

I had a three projector set up. I had the RS40 for blu ray movie watching (sold mines to make way for the RS55), a led projector just to have family and friends watch anything they want in my theater, and a GT720 (very similar to the GT750) for video games, sports, and 3D. I like it, and I assume the GT750 is better than the GT720. 3D is good and its bright. You wool just have to consider the short throw, it may be a problem. It was for me at first, but I figured it out

I'm considering the same. Using my old Zenith crt for 2D and GT750 for 3D. The one thing that is concerning me is the 2x color wheel. I really don't want to see bad rainbows...

assuming you are using the optoma xl kit for 3d on the gt720? how good is the 3d - is it realistic or do you find it distracting?

I am close to going for the gt750 over a plasma 50" to get the additional screen size (80") but am worried that the 3D may be gimmicky.

Also, sorry for all the questions, which glasses are you using? I see there are two types of glasses, the RF and the DLP (?). Just wondering which are better

EDIT: Ok I got a chance to see one set up in a shop and it blew my mind away with both 2D and 3D pictures. Ok my existing 32" tv is only 720p so I won't "miss" not having 1080p. Should be delivered tomorrow - went for the GT750, screen and 2 pairs of RF glasses.

cool, sounds good, did you see rainbows?

Yep, once you see 3D on a DLP, there is no going back. Then its just a torturous journey for new content, which there has been more of lately.

3D on a 720p DLP looks like 1080p to my eyes, don't know for sure why, but I have no desire for more resolution. Brightness is the only thing my eyes crave with 3D.
has anyone tried the true depth 3d dlp glasses? people are saying on the hd33 thread that they are supposed to be pretty good. also saying you have to change the settings on the RF glasses all the time. i'm guessing that probably more of an issue if you using 720 and 1080p sources and this projector is 720p all the time so probably not an issue.

EDIT: i really hope I don't see rainbows. and i really really hope that the RF glasses don't buzz as bad as one person said, i have very sensitive ears and that would be a problem.

Not while testing it for films, tv episodes, music videos. I haven't watched a full length film on it yet though.

Where I did see rainbows with it was when I had my wdtv live plugged into it. When I was scanning down the list of filenames quickly I could see rainbows dancing in front of my eyes. When I selected one of the files though it was fine.

i just bought one. usps parcel post so probably see it in a few weeks. i went with rf glasses as it includes a pair in the box. couldn't resist, i paid 745 for the projector with the pair of glasses. hopefully they work okay.

Let us know what you think when you get it
post #313 of 607
i just bought a gt750-e. impressive for the price. using it for golf simulator and home theater. my image from 9' throw is ~ 14x8 16:10 assuming my impact screen is 0.8 gain (assumption).

i would prefer a 1080p for bluray but limited on throw 11.5 feet.

member pointed me to navitar lenses - hd lense claims to increase image by 25% $1.5k or 50% 2.5k with "no signficant image loss". i am new at this and don't understand the technology.

given the large image and lower gain screen not sure if the 720p will give me a screen door effect with the pixels.

i can control light in the room to be dark.

curious on thoughts if for this size screen what image would look better for movies - gt750-e 720P or 1080p with 50% NAVITAR short throw lense in front?

appreciate your thoughts.

regards,

This is exactly what I have noticed. 720p 3D looks extremely good. I think a lot of people are paying a lot more for 1080p 3D when 720p 3D will more than hold them over until we have sub $1,000 1080p 3D, which will probably be within a year.

Today I got my Optoma GT750, too. It's my first projector and I'm completly clueless about black level or contrasts but for me the picture is very bright and it has very nice colors.

HD-Ready is enough - while watching movies I don't have any problems with missing details or something like that. And the 3D is awesome! The effects are great and - for me - it's bright enough (with Optoma FR glasses).

Unfortunately I notice the rbe, but only at white letters on dark backgrounds. But it's less annoying as I thought.

I think, that the Optoma GT750 is a nice and cheap gaming or movie projector with a great 3D mode

At last some pics (not reworked just comprimied).

How's the RBE in 3d mode? Can you comment more on the brightness and tell us what type/size/gain screen you use?

I'm thinking more and more about this projector as a chea placeholder until something better comes along, I just don't know about rbe.

Anyone playing BF3, ps3, pc or xbox with this projector?

I don't see any RBE in 3D mode. I use the rf glasses and I'm very happy with the GT750 in 3D mode. The effects are much better than the effects in the cinema and the pic is almost very bright (for me )

At the moment I use a white IKEA louver called "Tupplur" as screen. It's my first projector and I want to try out, how big my screen should be The wide of it is currently about 2 meters (so.... 6,5 feet?!). With that size the eco-mode of the Optoma is mire than enough for a bright picture (the pics above were all made in eco-mode).

I'm playing BF3 and also MW3 on the gt750 and I don't notice any RBE whilst playing them

yup been playing xbox 360 with MW3 and Arkham City (in 3D) and not noticed any RBE during game play. As said previously have only noticed it when been looking at scrolling white text on black background.

so far after a week am happy with the projector and panoview pull up projector screen I went for. Just wish i had more time to play games on it!

i have just got it using the out of the box settings. I change it to game for the type though and it looks good to me. I might start playing with the settings soon to see what differences are made though.

Anyone have any suggestions for settings I am all ears!

is anyone using this with nvidia graphics cards? can you give me a step by step on how to get it working? I have 3dtv play, assume I need to activate that in some way?

and is anyone using this with 3d in stereoscopic player? and what about powerdvd?

Just placed my order on kmart, was $60 cheaper then amazon. I am excited, going from old 50" samsung dlp to this. Can't wait.
check this out, just found on youtube

Edit: Just found this Optoma press-releases PT105. If you don't have enough $$ for a GT750, check out the PT105 (854x480 native resolution) but it's led.

mine arrived today, havent had a chance to test it out because DHL delivered my screen to the wrong place, that should be rectified tomorrow and hopefully I can mount the screen this week. then I get to play. The rf glasses seem comfortable, I tried them on to see.

Where did you order it for $745 with glasses and emitter?
it was a one time thing, someone on amazon was selling it. came with one pair of rf glasses, it was an open box, according tot he seller, they opened it to show a customer and the installer decided on a different projector, can't really tell what was opened, maybe they showed them the backpack it comes in as everything else was sealed.

I saw one similar on ebay as well for about same price. it sold too.

there are two models, gt750e without glasses and one with glasses, I think its best buy exclusive or something, i'm not sure but in the box it says go to bestbuy for accessories

Just got my projector today. Did a test run on my homemade screen, looks good, decided I need to get a ceiling mount instead of wasting time doing a temporary set up, so now need to wait for that. Ended up buying some 3d glasses off amazon at the same time, hopefully they are worth it.

With the lights on in my basement the projector still looked great, and not washed out. This is turning into a good amount of work. Moving all my equipment, (receiver, ps3, direct tv etc) into the corner of the room, so have to rerun some speaker wire, hdmi cables, and need to add a ceiling outlet with surge protection in the ceiling. Also need to rotate all the tvs throughout the house.

Looks like it will be worth it once set up. I also hope that my harmony remote will work with the projector, was going to do that last.
