Glad I ignored the critic reviews and saw this in the theater. Fun, fast paced, intense film. It almost got cheesy for a second later in the movie but they pulled it back in and finished strong. They really concentrated on the comradery of the Marines and did a good job for the most part. I think I did say to myself at one point though, "alright we get it you guys love each other like brothers and would take a bullet for each other."
Looking forward to playing Resistance III demo too!

The best part was the mother ship coming up from below the ground... Biggest bass of the movie... all else? Meh...

Once again the very good surround detailed soundtrack makes this movie a fun action packed guy flick.
The movie reminded me of the Green Zone, except without the political overtones.
Nobody trying to get to the bottom of any political agenda, just a bunch of very dedicated Jar-Heads doing what they are ordered to do.

Exactly, though I think when I was describing it to a friend yesterday I said "12 year old" . It was like a cross between a middle-schooler's homework assignment and some sort of computerized script generator that had been primed with every action/war movie cliche in the history of film. The dialogue in the "retirement" scene at the start was so bad I could barely stand it, but at least it let me know to lower my expectations way, way down for the rest of it. By the end I was l mostly just groaning or laughing at its ham-fisted attempts to rouse an emotional response. I do like big dumb action movies but the quantity of dumb was really making it difficult.

That said, the audio was terrific. The action scenes were not entirely terrible and my Buttkickers got a good workout. I can't think of any other film where they thumped this solidly at bomb and bullet strikes, and it really added to the experience. I may even use a couple of scenes as LFE demo material.

I watched another movie last night with similar reviews that is also known for its LFE--War of the Worlds. The audio was fantastic but I enjoyed the movie too and the performances by Tom Cruise and Dakota Fanning. So how does this alien attack compare to War of the Worlds? I am also interested in this one--certainly for the LFE but if I enjoyed War of the Worlds as a movie, perhaps I will enjoy this one as well.

War of the Worlds was one of the most intense HT experiences I've ever had...it ranks up there with Cloverfield, SAving Privte Ryan, and the Edward Norton version of the Hulk. Amazing sound effects in all of those, and I still remember the intensity to this day.

Watched this last night and yes the audio was great with some decent LFE and good use of surrounds. The movie it self though was weak. I agree with the comments that it's more like sitting through a shooting game than watching a movie.

Love all those movies! Battle LA, to me, is easily up there with all those. The sound was the one thing my wife didn't like though. She did have tears rolling down her face during a couple of emotional scenes though. This woman didn't even cry during The Notebook! That's when I thought, yeah, this is good!

Lol, yeah, we both did too. But she was literally wiping tears off her face with both hands she was so caught up in B:LA. Never thought this type of flick would get that kind of emotional response from her.

She did say that Michelle Rodriguez seems to be type cast as the "bad ass chick." I said, "No. They cast for a chick and the presence of Michelle Rodriguez makes it bad ass."

haha, dude I wish Michelle Rodriguez could be in every film I loved her in The Fast and the Furious, and in pretty much every film since. I thought Tarantino used her perfectly in the Grindhouse film and I was really glad to see her in this one. I know she's got some issues off screen, but ON screen she's a babe

I enjoyed this one for what is was a fun film. The LFE was awesome as well as everything else. Loved it.

While I liked movie I could have gone without the herky-jerky camera movement. I prefer old school steady cameras.

Both movies listed in your quote have better LFE than Battle Los Angeles. They were also better movies. To me, Battle LA was fair, and I couldn't wait until it ended.

Seems like people either love this film or hate it...very polarizing!

BTW, anyone gonna watch Falling Skies tonight? It's on TNT (pretty sure it's TNT) at 9pm, and it's got the hand of S.Spielberg in it.

I am very open-minded to movies and this just blew me away, and not in a good way. I have never in my life wanted to leave in the middle of a movie. I stayed hoping something would happen and it never did. First time i have ever asked the manager for my money back at the theater. Aaron ekhart is a horrible actor (cant show emotion AT ALL), the dialog is atrocious, the special effects are so bland and boring, the story is stupid. The entire time you are watching it thinking "Go that way!" "Dont do that" "What are you doing!" There is a scene where they go in the sewer in the middle of the night, are down there for a few minutes (action never cuts away) and they come out mid morning! I'm sorry, i normally dont comment on reviews but this is the worst of the worst. I actually posted this on my Facebook wall 2 hours ago after i saw a commercial for the movie being released
"Please people, do my a favor. When Battle: LA comes out, dont buy it, dont rent it, if you see someone thinking about either of those, slap them and tell them you are saving them money, pain, time, and psychological bills."

I just cant say enough of how bad this movie truly is.

I know, I am a little late to the party but this comment made me pause. Have you see 2012? I bought the blu ray for like $35 made it halfway through the movie, and headed to hastings to sell it back. Only made like $12 back but was worth it.

As for this movie. I rented it and liked it so much that I bought it when it was on sale. Story was ok but still got me invested in the characters. The main Sgt storyline in particular made me like him. The Lt was a little less so, but his dedication, made me feel for him. I may have like the story a little more because I am in the military.

The biggest reason I bought this movie. I had to readjust all the pictures and trinkets on all my shelves when it was over. The Soundtrack is amazing and the video quality is top notch. This is a very good demo movie.

I agree, this had every bad war movie cliche possible...but come on, the effects and sound/visuals were spectacular. I liked the idea that the alien soldiers had their weapons organically attached.

Just do like I did, and fast forward through all the dialogue.

The sound on this was fantastic, I gave it a rent via Redbox but I almost wish I had picked it up. The movie is a little drawn out but with the new audio system I just finished it really brought me in to the movie and made the whole experience that much better. Thanks for the recommendation R.P.!
