Just a quick update in case anyone is interested. I found a working Ma 21 driver and the Ottoman sounds great. If anyone wants measurements, I give it a go this weekend.

KICK ASS! Happy for ya mate, all that hard work, such a beautiful enclosure, now the amazing driver you built it for! KICK ASS!

Of course we are interested. Honestly it was this thread that stoked my flame for DIY sub building. Totally looking forward to seeing what that beast can do.

Absolutely fantastic build.

Not to be a negative nancy, but the only thing i worry about is from what i've read, anywhere near the middle of the room is generally just about the worst place you can put a sub.

Thanks guys, I appreciate it.

There is localization, but to a very small degree, overall the sub performs extremely well. I have 2 dual opposed MFW's in the front as well and altogether it's a bit nuts, but good fun.

Are you sure about that?

I thought it gives the smoothest response because no modes are excited./

Also it's the middle in only two of the three dimensions.

It depends more on the room but in some cases the middle is the best. I think in the old days of subs when small, low x-max driver's with low wattage amps were the norm the middle was the worst. You usually needed the added gain of corner loading with earlier subs but a high x-max 21" sub with plenty of power doesn't really need help to flex it's muscles.

I remember Dr. Hsu recommending a center of the room placement at one time and even Wilson audio made a coffee table sub that was meant to be near the middle of the room.

With that much volume displacement, putting a sub in the nearfield makes sense.

Could it get louder still down low in a corner? Probably, but the response wouldn't be as smooth. With a nearfield sub, I've found often the only real issue is the floor-ceiling mode. Not always, but often.

Glad you got a sub. May I ask where you found one? I freakin sold 2 of mine and am now needing one to match the two I still have.

Sorry I haven't had time to do measurements. I was in Austin Texas for a while then been super busy and now I'm sick. I haven't accomplished much lately, but super busy. Can't figure it out. I'll post when I get a chance.

Thank you.

I'll get to them as soon as I can. I just bought a house in Colorado Springs and I'm in the process of moving. Been a super busy year for me.

Wow...what a great idea and implementation...I am in admiration, sir.

Ever get any measurements?

Thanks for the compliment, I really appreciate it. I moved to Colorado and got married, so never got around to measurements, but I guess now that things have slowed down I should get on it.

Cheers!

I have two dual opposed mfw's in the front, so this sub's voltage is a bit lower and handles more of the lower frequencies. I only notice slight vibrations now and then with my feet sitting on top while watching movies. However the entire room rattles at that point so....

I'm very excited to get this all together with the TD12M's and SEOS build project. However they sound fine with my klipsch.

That is an amazing project!!
