Rainbow effect in 2011 plasmas?

I wouldn't really call it a rainbow effect (like the DLP rainbow effect) but some people do notice a sort of visual artifact that pops up at during certain scenes especially when there is a bright white object on a black background.

Personally for me they show up as "yellow flashes" and I see them mostly when looking at the screen from the corner of my eye, such as if im walking by the TV and take a quick glance.

I don't know the science behind why it happens, but it would most likely occur on all plasmas if you are sensitive to it.

I was surprised to see something similar to what you describe on a 65" VT30 with some concert footage with high-contrast light areas on a dark background, also sort of viewed out of the corner of my eye. I'm fairly sensitive to the rainbow effect on DLPs. I hadn't noticed that on a plasma before and wasn't aware that it could be an issue until I saw it the other day. I wanted to check a nearby D8000 plasma, but without similar test footage, I was unable to evaluate.
