I was in Cleveland this weekend and did a quick calibration of my friend's new WD-73840 while I was there. I have to say, I was very impressed.
I have the WD-65835, which calibrated better and easier than my 732 series, my son's 732 series (both older sets), and even the newer WD-73837 that my son has now. While they all calibrate well, my friend's 840 was the easiest to adjust and most accurate. I was impressed that it put out over 38 ftL at a contrast setting of only 38. I was also able to dial in the grayscale and color quite accurately.
If anyone is on the fence because of the 2012 sets being out, I would recommend not to worry about it and take your best deal.

Crazy...I paid $1350 in 2004 for a 51" floor model CRT RPTV. In 2007, the guy that I bought my 73" from ($300, broken but came with a NIB Mits (philips) lamp) paid $3300 from BB.
