Hello,
I apologize if I am posting this in the wrong sub-forum as I am not sure exactly where this topic would best be discussed.
We are putting an inground pool in our backyard and we are going to extend our current patio around the pool and enlarge it.
What I would like is to have 2 (or maybe 4) of the rock speakers around the pool in the landscaping and then have 2 indoor/outdoor speakers on the deck facing the patio area.
I'd also like to be able to hook the speakers up to a receiver inside my house, and connect that speaker (somehow) to my Windows Home Server so that I can stream mp3s, Internet radio, etc. to the speakers surrounding the pool and patio. I'd like to be able to control the entire thing (or at least the mp3/streaming part of it through my Android phone or an iPod touch. However, I'm not sure if any or all of this is possible.
I am not looking for audiophile quality here, getting the music out there is the main goal. Essentially looking for entry-level stuff to accomplish the goal. After the costs of the pool and landscaping, retaining wall, etc. there isn't a lot of budget for music.
I guess I have a few questions I was hoping for some help with:
-- Any experience with the rock style speakers? Are some inexpensive ones good enough for what I'm wanting to do?
-- What type of receiver would I need?
-- Is it even possible to stream mp3s from a server to a receiver and control it with a smartphone?
-- What kind of speakerwire would be necessary to run underground?
Truly, any advice would be helpful. Thanks for your time.
