Samsung 6900 now showing grainy picture?

I have the Samsung 6900 3D DVD player (connected through a Pioneer VSX-30 receiver to Samsumg Plasma TV) and it's starting to show a grainy picture at certain times. It does this when I'm at the main menu and sometimes when I watch regular DVDs... Watching Blu-ray looks fine. When I change the setting of movie mode to 24hz it temporaily fixes it, but eventually it goes back to the grainy picture. I've updated both the DVD player and TV to the most current firmware.

Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions? Not sure if its a setting on my receiver or somewhere else. Or if there is something wrong with the DVD player. I haven't had this problem before...

Regular DVDs are recorded in 480i so when upscaled to 1080p will look grainy especialy if you are usng a short viewing distance.

Thanks for the reply...

It's not really "grainy". I guess I should have used a better description. It's more like interference. It seems like there is some digital interference. Its not a total "snow" picture, but just digital sparkles throughout the picture (for lack of a better term).

I know the differences between 480i and 1080p and that the 480i will show up grainy... (pixelated). Let me know what you think.

Sparkles are often a bad cable or a not good enough cable.

I have seen it, lots of times now.
