Chatting with Amazon right now to setup a replacement.
I still wonder if its my PS3 but Ive set it up as best I can find on Google.
Game-wise, playing Need for Speed there is almost nothing going to the sub (oddly enough, on the game opening screen there is more bass than in the game itself)
Movie-wise I checked out Dark Knight (Dolby TrueHD), Cinderella Diamond Edition (DTS Master HD 7.1) and two Diary of a wimpy kid movies (DTS Master HD 5.1)
The Dark Knight seemed to have decent bass. The other 3 lacked it (granted, they arent bass heavy movies, but I wasnt hearing much at all)
Not sure if the Onkyo isnt working correctly on the LFE channel, if the PS3 isnt outputting correctly, etc.
You should certainly be pounding your house down with Dark Knight. I can't imagine there's too much bass in either Cinderella or Diary of a Wimpy Kid.
Did you do the Audyssey calibration. The most important part of that calibration is at the very beginning where you're calibrating your sub to 75dB. I'd mess with the gain on the back of your sub, look at the crossover frequencies you've set, and run Aud again.
Have you gone through the PS3's audio setup process again? Make sure you do that. You checking PCM or bitstream? I know this is a polarizing subject, but I would think you'd want it to pass bitstream.
I'd go through all of the above at least one more time before you send your unit back as defective.
Also, for movies that you want to "feel" some LFE, try out Terminator Salvation, Hellboy 2, and Tron Legacy (the scene where they drop into the bar for the their fight with Daft Punk DJing). If you don't feel like the windows in your house are about to break, you're doing something wrong.
