Optoma HD8300/HD33/HD3300 1080p 3D Projectors announced - Page 2

The Optoma USA web pages for all of these new models are now blank. Perhaps they pulled down the info to allow time to make corrections. There were obvious errors when I checked them a couple of days ago (such as listing 5000:1 native CR at the top of the page and 4000:1 further down the page).

I don't think that the group working on the new website is aligned with the group releasing the products. It appears now that none of the new projectors are mentioned on the website.

Site says 1080P 3D. I thought that originally this projector was going to be 720P with a future update to 1080P? With pricing like this, more people will get interested in 3D. It also makes me wonder how much the 8300 will cost? I don't see the 8300 costing double what the 33 costs.

Optoma has new website with the HD3300 (Guess they dropped the HD33) and the HD8300 3D projectors listed, but still no prices.

I was told to hold off when I was about to buy the HD8600. I guess the HD8300 is it. I'll find out any other details. Should be able to get one to review here, we'll see. Well looks like it's the HD33 coming in for review.

any word on a 3D upper model to replace the HD87????
Nothing yet, there should be a Euro version of the HD8300 I'll ask. My friend might be in Taiwan now, right now he doesn't pick up the phone. Minute I hear something I'll post it in this thread.

great. I would assume it to be called HD83 here, and replace the HD82. Then We can just wait for the HD87 replacement - HD88/HD8000 anyone?

1 year ago, I had to sell off my CRT due to moving, been out of the "race" since then, but the HD87 I saw demoed impressed me a lot.

I just got the loaner form from Optoma for the HD3300/HD33, should get it Wednesday. They expect this to be a hot seller at it's budget price plus it has many advanded features. I can't talk about the tech features yet but sounds good to me and more advanced than any competition.

should i return my recently purchased HD66 ?
Not if you like it. Do you see anything missing or off when watching 3D on the HD66? There might be some advanced features on this new model worth switching for. Lets see what we got.
If Optoma could keep the price for HD83 under 3k it would be hot seller. I hope it come with good dynamic iris and functional 3D CMS + 10 point gamma. This will be a replacement for my BENQ W6k and Acer H5360BD.

HD66 is too bright in 2D and I am still trying to figure out how the calibrate it as the controls for color it has dont match with Disney WOW. So i am a little disappoitned with 2D performance and was hoping the less brighter HD33 with 1080p would be better. In 3D the 720 resolution of HD66 bother me as i am in love with the 120' image which is fabulous for 3D...however would like to check out how a 1020p 3D image would look like...also since HD66+3DXL are costing about the same as HD33, i am very tempted !

How are you abkle to get your hands on the new projectors ? would you please post your review asap as i have deadline of August 30th to return my HD66+3DXL ?

thanks

I can let some tech info out now. The machine has PureMotion4D processing ensures smooth and judder-free images for greater realism like the more expensive one. It also uses RF frequency for the glasses while competitor models just use IR, RF is a much more powerful receiving technique. Glasses are $99. It also uses a 6xspeed color wheel that's RGB/RGB. It has two seperate tuning memories one for 2D other for 3D.

The HD66 lacks the 3D/2D separate tune modes plus the HD33 has a better colorwheel + better colors. It will be $1499 though. Optoma headquaters is near me and I have friends there. HD66=3DXL, the HD33 is all self contained and ready to do 1080p you may want to upgrade now.
To clear up confusion the HD33 is the retail store model the HD3300 is the Cedia outlet model. The Cedia one adds ISF modes and is a black machine the HD33 is white.
Quote from the engineer Wing about the HD33 and 1080p/3D

"It is true 1080p 3D – not just 720p 3D up scale to 1080p"

Will this projector do 720p at 120hz like the 720p 3d DLPs and the 1080p 3D Sharp?
Sorry if I overlooked this, but can anybody clarify if the 3300/33 requires an outboard 3D decoder such as the Optoma 3DXL, or will a direct connection from a 3D capable blu-ray player/PS3 work?

its a true "3D PJ", and not a "3D Ready PJ" which would need 3DXL....
Hi buddy long time. I just asked about your ?.

Wing did send me this, I don't know much about 3D but I'm learning, I'll buy a 3D blu ray player tomorrow and some movies.

"Right now only Blu-ray 3D is true 1080p 3D and is fully supported.by HD33

Other 3D sources such as DirecTV are 1080i 3D, but sport channel like ESPN 3D then is 720p, games are mostly 720p 3D – all such 3D format are also supported HD33 and upscaled to 1080p 3D by HD33"

No need for the 3DXL it handles everything on it's own.

This would be a first I think. Hope this is true!

You can try out ND2 filter to cut down the lumen in half. But if HD33 is confirm at USD 1.5k, I'll wait for it. HD66 can't match the PQ for a true 1080p DLP projector for 2D movie.

If it can accept 1080p 120hz, this would be what all 3D Vision gamers been waiting for. Currently, we had no way to play 3D games at full HD resolution.

Hi folks - despite being in Ireland, I visit this forum regularly as generally this is where the latest news happens 1st, but I don't post a lot as I've usually nothing much to add.

I've decided this is the projector for me and luckily enough, I've a friend who is in Miami this week and New York next week. I was going to ask them to buy this projector and get it shipped over. The question I have is this: can anyone recommend a walk in store that my friend can go into (Miami or New York)

Sorry, I've a second question - how can I get it shipped, is there stores on the street where I can walk in and they will ship it for me?

Sorry if my question seems silly, but living in Ireland I've no idea how things operate.

Thanks
Brian

Will the HD8300 work with Directv 3D and has a cost come out yet for the HD8300?
