Is buying a Wii still worth it?

With the Wii-U coming out next year, do you guys think buying a Wii is still smart?

I was thinking about buying one to finally play SMG 2 and maybe relive some good Cube games like Smash Bros and Twilight Princess. Also, maybe hack it. Maybe.

Ebay looks good for used Wiis but to be honest, most are selling at around $100 or so. I'm thinking at that price I'd just buy one new.

Yes. A $150 Wii is totally worth it for 18 months of fun. If you aren't getting a U on day one, then it's even more worth it. There are some brilliant games to be played there.

New black Wii w/ Mario Kart + Wheel for $149 ain't a bad deal. While you may run into hackers, if one Wii game still has or ever had a relatively robust online community to play with 24/7, it's Kart.

I would initially say no, but it all depends on if you will use it and get enjoyment out of it. If it is something you would use and have fun with go for it. I have a wii that I don't use much anymore, but my kids love it, so it is worth having around and we still have a blast playing it.

at least wait a month or two for some people to unload them in anticipation for the wiiU.. bet you can get it cheaper..

I may do a little more snooping on Ebay for a good deal. Or even wait a little while like ben suggested.

At $150 a Wii isn't worth it. The reason is that you can find find used ones all day on craigslist for $100 or even less. Sometimes they even come with a few games (outside of Wii Sports) and extra controllers. At this stage of it's life, that would be the only way to pick one up.

That's what I was thinking. $150 for what is basically 10-year-old tech is a bit much.

I'll do $100, though. I lost a couple of auctions yesterday thanks to last second ninja ebayers lol, so I'll keep trying.

How can you stand to even use Ebay? Their policies vastly favor the seller over the consumer.

I suppose you could always pay via PayPal, whose policies vastly favor the buyer over the seller, to try to even things out.

Actually, for most purchases, I either go to Amazon or Newegg. Ebay's good for me, though. I've never had a problem with it.

And I never buy from a non-reputable seller. Never.
