Comcast digital output problem

Switch back to comcast from att 3 weeks ago.
Everything worked fine with att.
Now on comcast there is choppy audio output from both the digital optical and coax output to my receiver.

I moved to the cable output to the DVD digital input on the receiver and same thing. Tested my DVD and it works fine. ( DVD is using optical out)

Comcast tech came out and replaced box, put an amplifier on the line. Said the signal was good.

When he hooked it up HDMI to tv it worked fine.

Equipment:
Panasonic Th42PX600U plasma.
Denon 1803 Receiver
RNG??? cable box.

Definitive technology speakers.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Not familiar with that box but you could try messing with the audio settings on the box itself. I imagine it's in settings somewhere and just switch it to either Dolby digital or PCM, whichever is the opposite of what it's set to now. Worth a shot anyways.

Thanks for that reply. I did try that already along with changing the audio settings in the cable box.

Did the Comcast tech witness the choppy audio?
If so did he hear the effect after changing the box out?
If yes to both questions I would keep having Comcast coming out and trying another box until the audio is normal!!
