Not related to comskip, but good info.
I found the info below on the SA forum, it's interesting, using SA's file watcher instead of DTB's file watcher service. Right now my setup seems super stable so I won't be trying this quite yet, but I wonder if I could kill those last un-needed logs that are created with no way to suppress.
"Using SA’s file watcher vs. DTB’s
If you want Media Center to skip commercials, you need to have DTB (DVRMSToolBox) installed, and the DTB Media Center Add-in. SA just finds commercials in a recording (wtv/dvr-ms/ts/mpg) and outputs a file containing the locations of those commercials. In order for Media Center to skip the commercials, you need another program to read SA's output and tell Media Center when to fast-forward. That's where DTB comes in.
Now that SA has a built-in directory watcher, you don't actually need the file watcher component of DTB, unless you want to strip the commercials or convert the recordings to another format. You do need the DTB package installed though, to be able to view/change the settings for commercial skipping. If you're using SA's directory watcher, you need to disable DTB's file watcher, as I believe it's enabled by default. To do this, click the Windows Start button, and in the search box type services.msc and hit enter. Scroll down until you see "DTBService." Double-click that entry and set "Startup type" to "Disabled" and click OK. At this point the service will probably still be running, so you should click "Stop the service" in the left column, or just reboot.
There should be an entry called "DVRMStoMPEGSettings" in your "All programs" start menu. Run that, and you should see 8 tabs across the top. Only 2 of them matter: "MC Addin" and "Commercial Skip." Leave the rest of the settings as-is. Under the MC Addin" tab, make sure "Skip Commercials" and "Handle Keys" are both checked. The rest of the settings are largely irrelevant. Under the "Commercial Skip" tab, make sure the "Commercial Path" is identical to the SA setting Output/DVRMSToolBox/Where path (in SA, if the path is blank, the xml files will be in the same folder the recordings are in, but DTB, by default, expects them to be in "C:UsersPublicDvrmsToolboxCommercialsXml.") It doesn't matter where you put them, just make sure the 2 settings are the same, or DTB/MC won't see them and won't skip commercials.
Also under the "Commercial Skip" tab, make sure "AutoSkip," "Reload Settings" and "Skip back disable" are all checked. The rest of the settings you can leave as-is or change to your preference, just note that the "D0" through "D9" keys mean 0-9 on your main (not numpad) keyboard."
