If there is a place for this let me know. I am not very good at forums but here goes.

Timeline -
Tuesday evening- All sound working fine on multiple sources
wednesday evening (not used all day) - No sound on any source, I run a test tone and hear sound fine on all speakers. backed out of the setup menu and POOF I had sound on my PS3 source. Switched to Xbox, no sound, ran test tones sound came back.
Thursday (not used all day) - No sound, test tones work, no sound still.

All sources are running via HDMI (Cable box, PS3, XBOX 360) Haven't tried the wii which is on Component and RCA audio. Gonna do that now.

Any suggestions?

Thanks Everyone.

Hi PyrosMagus, suggest you tell us what model receiver you have.

Does the tuner output sound?

Might try the "unplug AC" reboot. Not always useful, but easy and fast to try.

Okay, sorry about that. Onkyo SR-TX705.\\
and the Power refresh didn't do anything.

You do get HDMI video, yet no sound...(making sure)...

Have you tried anything connected tos-link? (I suggest the cable box first)

Basically here are your possibilities....

DAC died(connecting something Tos-link will determine if the DAC is good)
HDMI board is crapping out (again this will be determined by whether Tos-link works)
Cables all of a sudden have issues
HDMI HDCP is "having fun" (unplug/unhook everything, start over)

IF DAC, time for a new AVR
IF HDMI, could be a cheap fix through time for a new AVR
IF cables, get new ones(not "better", just new)
IF HDCP, welcome to HDMI and its occasional issues.

Hate to ge the bearer of bad news, but what you're experiencing is normal for Onkyos. The HDMI connections start crapping out in as soon as a year. Some are lucky and have them last up to 3 or 4 years, but that's rare.

Good job spreading the myth that all Onkyo are destined for HDMI failure, keep up the myth...
