Wasn't sure if this post going to be condoned even though AVS only buys and not sells Barco's. So as to not make this sound as a for sale ad, I didn't include the email addy provided in the newsletter.

"Contact our sales team for more information.

These promotions are valid while stock lasts, and only apply to orders placed before 24 June 2011 and with delivery in June 2011. Prices are based upon ex works delivery."

Sales team email addy in both your inboxes ...

Guys I'll be off to bed shortly, so for those that can't wait for me to get back online, the contact details are not listed at the website as such, but are to be found in projector specsheets like this one: http://www.barco.com/projection_syst..._specsheet.pdf

So what is the difference between the DP2000 and the newer DP2K.

I have been interested in a DCI unit but they seem a bit overwhelming.

I assume more is needed to use the projector. What is needed to watch HDMI content and 3D content?

The difference is the size of both the imagers and the projector itself. The DP2K is the new 2K platform that is using the new DCi DLP chips, and is upgradable to the DP4k, the 2000 and the 1500, and the 1200 use the smaller 0.98" DLP Cinema chips.

Different software and features as well between the series two and 1st gen.
Just for the record AVS does sell D-Cinema I am currently running a DP2K-12C.
Peter was nice enough to stop by yesterday, we had a nice visit.

Alan. Do you think the dp2k I worth alot more than the dp2000 considering the discounted price?
Great to finally meet Alan and see his new Barco. The new one is sharper, much better scaler, 20% brighter and can with the right kit do 3d with hdcp.

That being said one baseball player paid $350,000 for the CAT version of the dp-2k, with gamma curves and aperture plates pulled out of JB's butt.

We just played with a couple of the Depth FxII gammas, which at this point have cost me in excess of 50K to develop with the real image genious in the bottom picture.

Alan finally got a taste of the Superkontrast mods, he did not think they were too shabby.

+20% doesn't really matter much if you get 18K lumens, like Wolfgang did. Of course if you are buying new anyway, get the one with the bigger imager and therefor bigger brightness?
Maybe but the new TI Board is grand.

I know because we did a Brain Salad Surgery in the Prometheus Superkontrast and every time I see it, I make a reminder to buy depends for the next visit. IT is incredibly sharp, and the MTF just cuts your throat.

CINERMAX if you don't mind me asking who is the Guy on the left hand side in the pic
James Cameron ?..

While iv been pursuing my AV addiction for 20 odd years Unfortunatly for me I could only dream about owning one of your latest creation's.. All the same i can still enjoy your posts regarding the very best of the top teir Display devices along with other AVS members..

Thanks Cinema Mad, because this gentleman's Projection Engineering skills are my secret weapon, id like for him to remain incognito. Just one among a few of the best qualified people in Hollywood to engineer projection mods.
Sorry CINERMAX I actually ment the person on the left hands side of the pic when looking at the photo ,
I believe to be James Cameron ?..

Apologies for not knowing left from right side

Well he's wearing a shirt sporting the logo of your Californian projector supplier.
They were giving away those shirts at cinemacon, so it means nothing, I got 6 of those in different colors .

However my dear inspector Holmes, when i say something needs to stay incognito doesn't mean that is a puzzle for you to decipher. Restrain your sleuthing skills or you will most certainly find that your freaking "scouring with a loupe" is going to cost you my ignore one of these days.... When I post semi sensitive information which might have the appearance of clues, THE GAME IS NOT FvCKiNG AFOOT FOR YOU!!!!!

We tried ordering some, not available.

If any one was succesful please pM me.

the series2 2k cinema dlps have much more advantages.

-it have a build in scaler the series1 not.
-it can do beside 3d in full res. 24p at tripple flash as well full 2k res. with 2x 60p!
(for live3d content in very best quality)
this is also need for the defacto new home video 3d standard.
this even the 4k dlps cant do today!!!
-new software
-more light with the same lamp
and much more.

the prices that was post here looks cheap but it was the same with a car.
a secound hand 500 mb with 300.000 km cost much less than one with only
50.000 km or a new one.
so only if you look not very close it seems to be a good price.

Hey don't mouth off me!

It wasn't me that blabbed too much, so if you are regretting you posted that boasting, don't come complaining to me you have a big mouth, you couldn't keep shutt.

I have no idea who that red head is, nor will I. Nor do I care! Even if I would ever be in the market for any of your products or services.

So you were boasting about this great guy you contracted. Very ineffectively, pointless in fact, as your audience here has no clue as to his greatness, and isn't allowed to have any.

It isn't me you should worry about, or AVS members, but the people who do know him, and have deeper pockets than you do. Being vocal will not prevent history from repeating itself, just make it more visible, in case it does.

Cineramax,

If the dp-2000 at 16,000 was a typo, then what is the correct price?

+1.

The DP-2000 at that price was very tempting.
